I got 27, but I am not accustomed to first person games (because of motion sickness ^^’). Your game is fun, but I wondered if you chose the formula for computing the score randomly or for a reason ? It seems quite complex :) !

Developer

You know, some things in life are just complex. However that formula is not complex, it is real.

"Just what?", I though during the whole duration of this game.

"Why is there a giant anime girl in front of me? Why is she T-posing? What does she wants of me? Does she loves me or hates me? How can she toss those hearts and fishes while not moving her arms? Why does she have so many fishes? From where does this music comes?"

So many questions, so few answers. I just know that my score is 34.

Here are some answers for you:

Yes, ergonomics, love and/or hate, both and/or neither, the power of love and/or hate, it's a good source of healthy fats, from the soul.

Thank you for playing. 34 is a pretty good score

pretty unique and funny! i just try my best to pick up hearts but don’t know the impact of the fish

Developer

Just like in real life, it is quite good to get some fish. They contain a lot of protein and are a great source of healthy fats, so I would not avoid them entirely. However, fishes should not be used as a substitute for love. You need a bit of both. It's probably best to get mostly love, though. You can't eat that much fish when you're full. A good ratio is one fish per four loves (both in the game and in real life).

Thank you for playing!

The game is utter chaos and it was fun.
My best score was 47
As Brett said the ability to restart the game would be nice (I played several times)
What would also be a nice improvement would either be a UI to tell you how many hearts/fish you collected, or some feed back as you successfully collect them (sound effects or exploding partials?)

Developer(+1)

Those would in fact be good improvements. Unfortunately, I am lazy and I suck at Unity. However I feel like adding a counter to show how many things you have collected would make the game too easy, which is why I will not be updating the game.

Anyway I am glad you enjoyed the game and I hope you look forward to the prequel.

This game is totally bonkers (in a good way). Minor request: add ability to restart at the end of the game. I couldn’t figure that out so I just refreshed the page.

Developer(+1)

Dang! I didn't expect anyone to want to play the game more than once, so you can't restart it. I guess I'll fix it if I get around to it. Thank for play!

Weird stretching character. Weird scoring system. Weird music. I’d say you squarely hit the mark you were aiming for =P

Developer

Ah, yes. That mark that I was aiming for was weird

I played this 3 times, and my best score was 62. I tried plugging the score formula into a couple graphing calculators to make sense of it, but it is truly incomprehensible, just like the cover image (and I am NOT about to break out calculus just to figure out the optimal score).

Of all the games I have played for this jam, this is one of them.

Good music.

Developer(+1)

Ah, here's a little hint: Instead of using calculus you can just brute force the best solutions to the formula. Given that f and h will always be integers, and usually less than ~40, you can just do a brute force search to find the best amount of things to grab (not that I expect you to (I haven't done so myself (I just created a random formula (because I thought it would be fun (mostly) and also because it's a metaphor about life (probably) (I think)))).

Glad you liked the msuic. I probably spent more time on that than the game itself.
