Really enjoyed this game! One of the most fun experiences when playing games in this jam. Took me a while to beat the last level but I'm glad I didn't stop and got the ending for Skippy :^D.
I also think the game benefits really well in having a cute character to base the game around, since the player will have more of an emotional connection and not want Skippy to die. I found myself really getting immersed and not wanting for Skippy to be a red puddle because of this :v.
If you're going to make this to a more polished game, capitalizing on that might be good, Maybe adding more interaction around Skippy and the player or something like that.
But these are just recommendations and not really critique since I thoroughly enjoyed the game and I didn't have much to say about it. Maybe the pushing the boxes mechanic was kind of frustrating at some points but that might be just a personal thing. Over all really enjoyed the game!!
Omg thank you for such great feedback, and for playing my game :) I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yea I agree. If I were t continue with this project, I would add a lot more story and focus on fleshing out the character so you feel more attached. I'd probably add in optional stuff like other chickens to save in the levels which you don't have to save. There's a ton of directions to take this, although tbh I'm not sure I will continue with it not.
I appreciate the recommendations. It's always a pleasure to hear ideas from other developers :)
Cute, unique, and interesting! Great job! Was really confused about the torches at first, wondered why they went out so quickly, because I thought the goal was to light all of them when I couldn't see the light to guide Skippy to. Turns out I was totally wrong, haha!
Its a really nice puzzle, really well done, its challenging but not that hard, well for me, I got stuck on the last level cuz I did not know what I needed to do, I just didn't know that you could put crates on spikes and the spikes would just stay there.
Super cute and fun idea! Love the physics of pushing boxes around with the bird too. It felt like it was going to be tedious at first, but after it was revealed you could sprint and interact with objects that made it a lot more interesting. The ending was pretty cheeky too ;) Great job
No, this is an exploit that some people have found. An oversight on my part, or perhaps not since it allows some people to finish lol
Spoilers! The actually solution is to push the box into the first row of spikes while they’re down, theyn pull the lever once more. The spikes won’t come up while the box is on top. Then you’ll have a path to get through ;)
Amazing! Accompanying a chicken from darkness to light feels like a noble act. Great job and cool idea!
10:10 ; 3 deaths ; Loved it! Love the idea of leading a character with your pointer and using light to obscure and reveal what needs to be done. Well done!
This game has my bet for winning the jam! The world was atmospheric with nice music. It had an interesting main mechanic that was well used, with short and sweet levels.
Solid art, SFX and in game tutorial. The mechanic of solving puzzles while a chicken follows a light was innovative but don't feel like it was a home run in the fun factor. I might be alone based on other comments that liked the dual nature of the light solving puzzles while also guiding the chicken - each to their own.
