This is a super tough one for me because I really, really love the art style and the characters (their interactions are brilliant) but as a player, I generally don't like to have to do too much when playing a VN because I just essentially want to lay in bed and read them like books (preferably with choices) on a touch screen of some description where I can easily control it by just prodding the screen x3 whereas this didn't really feel like a VN to me because of the RPG elements.

That's just my personal opinion though! It doesn't take away from the fact that it's a great game :3 It's just not really my cup of tea play style-wise is all. And despite it not really being my preferred way of playing a VN, I still had an enjoyable time going through the story, and the walkthrough is much appreciated :3

This was an absolutely lovely game. I adored the witty banter between the characters, and it really seems to hint at a larger story overall that is in the head of the creator. The designs were wonderful as well and I enjoyed the color palette quite a bit. Wonderful game!

This is an impressive game with lovely graphics and engaging humorous story from start to finish that perfectly fits the Halloween theme of this jam.

The pixel art is so cute and pretty! I like the mix of the lower res look for the interior of the house (reminds me of SNES games which still allow a lot of details compared to GameBoy), but that you also got high res sprites for the characters to bypass the problem where you wished you could tell what a character looks like in old games. It gives us a demonstration of your pixel art range through the cleanness of the rendering of both the simpler and complex designs. Alicia's sprite in particular is really cool, I dig her.

Great job on the comedy writing. The interactions between the duo is funny, and so many flavour texts to read where it's like an Eastern Egg hunt to find them all because the comments are always priceless.

The RPG style interactivity is enjoyable, such as that part where you had to use the lighter from the inventory menu to progress.

Spoilers:

The big choice that decides the ending is settled in the confrontation by the end. I prefer it for games where you can easily find endings without a walkthrough by deducing what major choices you had not made; which is the case here, so I'm content. Normally I try for bad endings first, but I did find the good ending by chance, only because I couldn't resist not to pay the toilet a visit, but it shows Alicia's cleverness. You almost had me scared with the 'boss battle' against Beaford because I wasn't sure if I had to bring the correct item; luckily he's just a pushover!

THAT WAS FUCKING AMAZING, FROM THE STORY TO THE ARTSTYLE I THINK I FELL IN LOVE CAN I GET MARRIED TO A GAME????

Cute art and story! The only thing that wasn't worked with me is I'm unfamiliar with Game Maker mechanic so it took me quite some time to figure out how to do X haha

Developer

Thank you! I think some parts of the mechanic definitely relies on familiarity with rpgmaker games, I'll def see if I can make it clearer!
