Very well done! I really enjoyed trying this out. I don't think my computer could handle it though because it was really chugging and the tab eventually crashed! Haha, if you put time into anything else with this project I would suggest optimizing some of the code so that it doesn't crash for other people as well!

Developer

You are right, there are many points to optimize. Big problem was, that i made some bad design decisions at the beginning, and didn't realized it until it was to late to rewrite it. Next time i know better...
I hunted bugs until some minutes before the deadline. The binaries run much better.

The splash screen was killer!
This is one of the most polished games I've played for this jam, everything about it was top notch, not to mention the fact that to make an rts for a game jam is sort of overkill, great job!

Developer

Thank you!! <3

Well, i try in every jam something i never did before... I'm suprised how well it went this time xD

Nice RTS, especially nice for a game jam. The audio is really good too. Good job!

Developer

Thanks you <3

I am very impressed. One of the better RTS games I’ve seen in a game jam! It did start to slow down for me later in the game, but I was playing in my browser so that might have been a factor.

The spice must flow! It’s got a great Dune feel to it! (Reading your comments down below, I see you also experienced a childhood addiction to Dune)

Well done. I browsed your devlogs too, good job pushing through some disappointments to deliver a great little game!

Developer

Thank you.

Problem with the HTML5-Export is, that its a debug-build. There is still a tiny bug, that crashes the Release-Build after 30-45 Minuts of gameplay and i cannot find it... This does not happen in the debug-build...

Wow! Nice RTS :D loved it, great graphics and sound.
A title I'll get back too :)
Would not recommend the browser version, just download the binary :)

Developer

thank you, i'm really glad you like it <3

This is fantastic! I could never imagine someone could pull of an RTS in a weekly game jam!

Amazing! First of, love the oregano as a resource. Second, the moment the first map was loaded and I saw the units waiting for instructions and the fog of war it reminded me of the first Warcraft game that run in DOS...

... and when I sent a tank to explore using the minimap... and it actually went to explore... and then I glanced on the commands: Explore and  Search and destroy... congratulations! This is amazing! I have no idea how you pulled this of! Like, how?
Is there a tutorial that helped you or anything you can recommend?

EDIT: Smart usage of all the Wildcards there :D Respect!

Oh god, thank you for so many kind words!

Acutally i got 99% of my inspiration from Dune 2, which is more or less the grandfather of all modern RTS. (There are several open source remakes) I was highly addicted to the game when i was a child...

I have not used any tutorials. Infact i had no time for this. i just finished it 20:30 :x
The only thing i looked up on the internet was a mathematical function to get coordinats in an rectagular spiral from an integer. thats how the harvesters search for oregano without killing the FPS...

You can download the project folder if you are curious on how i made specific things. But beware, its a mess... Its still my first RTS, and i made alot of mistakes in the ground-structure.... next time i'll be wiser xD

If you have any questions on how i have done stuff, feel free to ask :)

And how...
Well... i worked every free minute on it and slept not enough... *cough*
Now i'm completly done xD But this makes me even more happy that you like it. It really means alot to me.

Its amazing! Not used any tutorials??? What have you worked with in the past if you can make an RTS IN A WEEK without any guidance???

Have a good rest! I will be applauding *silently* while you sleep

Developer(+1)

I'm not the big tutorial-guy... i like to figure out stuff myself. of course it often helps to see how other people code their stuff, but i learn much more, when i find my own path. and then trash it, because its shit. and find a nother solution. and again and again xD

btw, i still consider myself as a beginner... or better something between beginner and "knows more or less what he does"

"btw, i still consider myself as a beginner..."

(Makes an RTS without tutorials in a week)

(haha just joking man I think you are a awesome, I know what you mean. )

Developer(+1)

LOL, you made my day xDDDD

well, when you know enough to know how little you know, you falls back to beginner-status... (very philosophic xD)
thank god that happend years ago...

Very good and polished for such a short period of time! Well done!!

Developer

Thank you! :)

Absolutely brilliant! Its so polished and actually quite well balanced, something that is not easy to do! Amazing job! I played it for like 45 minutes straight just because of how fun it is.

Developer

thank you! Your words make me really happy! 😍
