Nice visuals and creepy as hell. I was going to suggest compass but I later figured out I can just look at the shadow of trees (like a true hunter 😎)
Very cool, this is probably going to be the best visuals in the jam imo but I'll comeback and see. I decided to do video reviews this jam in case I wanted to compile videos:
Thank you for taking the time to review it! We're planning on having more endings and more interactivity, but for the sake of the producing something kinda polished and functional, we kept it to the minimum viable product XD
Also Temi did all the modeling, I only painted the textures this time around because I'm not very fast at 3D yet :D
Thank you for playing and for a detailed review! Adding to what Max have said:
Would you say the game was too dark? I've seen this issue on multiple recordings now, can't tell if it's a recording thing or if it's genuinely just pitch black for other people
As for the upscaled text, I couldn't figure out how to make it sharp lol but I'll definitely look into that
As for the "twist", I don't blame you for thinking it's cliche because. it very much is lol
Game definitely didn’t seem too dark to me? I’ll say that dithering always makes it look darker on smaller screens, I think your game doesn’t (I think it has a set internal resolution?) but that was an issue I had with “Goodbye Page” where when I was watching on my phone the livestream would go black because of how the pixels lined up when downscaled.
Great game, nice simple effective story and really good sounds and visuals.
Especially love the birch trees that have an eyeball pattern on them.
I like the eyeball trees <3 <3
And the eyeball trees like you <3
First of all, feel super validated for my initial pacifist attempts. Honestly thought it was going to lead to an alternate ending initially.
Love the opening, The "You are a hunter" text is honestly chef's kiss storytelling, so minimal, perfect.
I love trees and love how tall the trees in the forest are.
I almost wish as the game progressed the snow got heavier and heavier or something along those lines. Really solid game and its extremely pretty, super impressed.
If that makes you feel any better, we were planning on alternate endings but you know... Time ran out, lol.
The snow does get heavier (and the light fades out as well) but it's very progressive so it's kinda hard to notice XD
I really like the mix of 2D and 3D which mixed really well for the visual style. The atmosphere is really nice and sets the mood really well. GG gang
very cool twist, simple easy yet wanting more out of it.
Great job :)
I wanted to come up with a witty comment, but only sexist thoughts came to mind...
Incredible atmosphere! I really enjoyed that the trees are gigantic. I loved the game's simplicity in telling a quick story.
The atmosphere is amazing! So dense. I love the trees. The mix of 3D and 2D is great. Just a super cool game, really liked it. Also the conclusion really hits hard.
Wonderful atmosphere and use of environmental/passive storytelling. Gorgeous music. Loved it!
Truly amazing game. Amazing job. 10/10 The atmosphere and music are top-tier. Especially the music. Jost, good job.
Love the visuals and atmosphere of this one.
Trees having eyes-like marks drawing attention to the sky obstructed by a network of tree branches was a nice touch - gives you that feeling of being a minuscule ant in an unknown place.
The story follows a classic horror trope. Nothing special to say about it. Was hoping for something more.
Thank you for noticing the branch ceiling :3
People seem to miss it
the atmosphere is really good :)
Ayyy what dense awesome atmosphere man, I loved the trees being impossibly tall. I wish more games took place in the snow. And the sound design plays such a big part. Very lovely.
oh my fucking GOSH dude this was so good!!!! i was so fucking tense ,,, GOOD JOB Y'ALL
