I love that this game doesn’t overstay its welcome, it has the perfect length for the amount of features you have.

Graphics were nice monochromic ones, audio was a bit too quiet, but overall it felt fine together.

At first I didn’t get the combat economy, but then I figured what I need to do, and started to enjoy it way more, the only thing I didn’t really get is why you need the first move, except for finishing out enemies.

Movement felt a bit strange, but as the game is quite short it wasn’t a big issue.

The final boss had appropriate difficulty in my opinion, it felt a bit challenging, but not overwhelming. I didn’t find the use for Gold btw :)

Here’s my play-through:

great entry! Tho the movement is funky, but the combat and the art is good!

Developer

Thank you for giving it a go! I appreciate it!

I escaped for this time!
I've enjoyed very much hand painted textures! Everything is lovely looking in one style. Going to spend all my 73 coins on sweat rolls
Thanks for a game!

Developer

And thank you for giving it a try! Enjoy those rolls hahaha

Nice and short game! I think the mechanics works fine for the combat. The movement in the  dungeon is a bit slow. I like the hand painted graphics, it sets a nice tone.

Developer

Thank you for taking the time to play it!

This is a lovely little crawler, and I say 'little' in terms of game, not filesize -1gb is absolutely criminal! I'm sure this is a learning experience and hopefully you can get that down to something more manageable in the future.

I  think the combat system is really well implemented and well tuned. It's simple by very engaging. Like CryptRat mentioned, it does incentivise pooling resources between fights, but I personally didn't mind it too much.

The movement controller is decent, I think some others have touched on potential improvements, but it's an excellent attempt for a first crawlers. The perspective is great as it is.

The art is perfect as it is, the hand drawn aesthetic worked perfectly. This was a fun game, which didn't outstay its welcome. Thanks!

Developer

Yeah, I gotta look more into how to reduce that. I had no idea that wasn't the norm tbh! I appreciate all the input truly! Thanks for taking time to try it out

Oh awesome another Unreal Engine game! :D  (There is three of us now! )  First time for me doing a Dungeon Crawler too!

Im guessing the turning not being lerped is because of the weird offset unreal adds to the rotations right?

The art style is really cool and the combat was functional. Good work! :)

Developer(+1)

Yes exactly the reason haha thank you for taking time to try it out!

I found out this method after the jam ended xD  Gives perfect 90 degree turns! Just make sure on the character Use Controller Rotation Yaw is turned on!  (If you don't set the values before the timeline starts it and the Lerp freak out)

Ohhhh thank you sm!

Controls are very chunky, would love if i could hold down a direction and strafing, combat is not that interesting, everything is static, but the art style saves a lot of the game.I would definitely play a more fluid dungeon crawler with this style.

Developer

Thanks for the input! I appreciate you taking the time to try it out!

I escaped the dungeon, enjoyed the journey.

The art is very cool (especially the dragon) and consistent. I really like this kind of combat system and then I had fun defeating the successive opponents although a pet seeve of mine has been that I don't like that stamina is kept from a fight to the next because you're trying to get your bar back high before finishing off an opponent which is weird.

Thanks for sharing!

Developer(+1)

Very valid to be honest, I'll have to consider other ways to get stamina up between fights perhaps. Thanks for the words and for playing!

I escaped the dungeon … this time.

Nice art style you have there, but does that really need to take over a gigabyte of space? The battle system worked well. Movement was a bit clunky, as there is no strafing or a back button. And what about the gold? Is there anything I could have done with all the gold I found? All in all I liked it.

Developer

I'm fairly new to game dev so I have NO idea why it takes that much space tbh. Something I'll have to work on for sure! As for the Gold I had planned on buying upgrades, but ran out of time. Thanks for playing tho!!
