How does your game fit either (or both) genres?
Luna is a magical girl who fights with the power of the moon, while Angie is a magical girl who can construct various magitech devices. I guess if you stretch the definition of Metroidvania to include text-based dungeon crawlers, I do have some areas that are inaccessible or potentially hazardous until certain abilities are learned?

Chosen theme(s) and relevant explanations
Unity: The game features a 'Unity' stat, indicative of the bond between the two party members, which influences the endings. Unreal: Some chests and beds are unreal, and are actually mimics. The story also takes place in an unreal world. Construct: Angie can construct various devices to help with dungeon exploration. Rust: The prison the party finds themselves in is rusty. Python: Most of the enemies, as well as the final boss, are pythons. (This game was made with Python, too!) Pearl: Pearls which grant powers to the party can occasionally be found.

Optional challenges explanations, if applicable
PTSD Moment 1: Some beds are mimics that will attack if you try to sleep on them; you might also be ambushed while asleep. Jelly-filled donuts have a chance to be filled with poison, damaging the player instead of healing them. PTSD Moment 2: The game starts with the party having been captured and sent to prison, where they must retrieve their lost powers and escape. PTSD Moment 3: Prior to the start of the game, the party was knocked unconscious by a boss who self-destructed upon defeat. The final boss also self-destructs at the end.

Premade content
The true ending CG was reused from my previous MVM31xMGGJ13 Banner Submission attempt. Music and sound effects are free assets from a variety of sources, credited in-game and on the game's page. I used Ren'py Kinetic Text Tags by Wattson for the shaking text effects, as well as Achievements for Ren'Py by Feniks for the achievement system.

The windows download file having “Linux” at the end of the name confused me and made me believe it wasn’t playable on windows until someone else pointed it to me that was also the windows download file (not affecting the score im giving, just pointing it out it did confuse me)

Overall it was a cute roguelike, big fan of the Black magical girl having a pickaxe as a weapon, not as fan of her frog homophobia /s

Thanks for playing!

Btw the download has "win-linux" at the end of the name because the same build works for either windows or linux

Oh my goddo that is such a really wholesome game!

I knew these two were going to be yuri the moment I saw some of their banters x)
I really love them, they're very funni and endearing, it was a big delight helping them out to dungeon crawl, was always waiting for the next interaction.

God this game just softens my heart so much! I'm way too easilly attachable to characters and that feeling is something I don't see a lot in mvm! I assume it's probably more common on mggj, but seeing it here really fills my soul with joy x)

I kinda got the unity ending by luck since I just like, happened to split some donuts, otherwise my dialogue choices would have made me end up on the indifference route, but I'm glad it did because that ending was definitelly the sweetest one.
I am kinda very terrible for playing these kind of games where you have to make choices for characters that are actual characters and not just a literal self insert for the player in order to get the other endings, because I refuse to make choices that I believe the character's thenselves wouldn't do (In this case I thought it was more fitting for Luna to thank Angie, and for Angie to either disagree with or criticize Luna). Thankfully that does mean all I have to do to get the other ending if I play again is to not split donuts, so I'll see if I do that. (I just wanted to point this out because like, I feel genuinelly bad for having to make a decision for someone that isn't literally me, so I was very torn when these choices popped up lol, because it also makes me feel like I'm assuming their feelings, wich granted, we do so irl all the time, but still, It's not something I like to do)

The achievements are a very nice addition, they're funny and can point players towards interesting directions, and I appreciate you hid the spoilerous ones.

The actual dungeon crawling experience is super fun too! This is really a fully fledged out rpg and both characters have very interesting movesets! I also really like the resource management aspect to it, really adds that sense of risk vs reward while exploring and battling!
I also really like the final boss, I love how each extra phase represents one of the two characters with moveset and flavor text, and the random anime music playing on the background makes it heart pounding EPIC!!! xDDDD
(However, I do wish Luna didn't just like, flat out said it out loud the boss represented them, that felt kinda corny, but in her defense at least it wasn't an unnatural thing to say at that time since she did so to reflect about it, so I'll forgive her this time, headpats Luna)

I only did 2 runs so far, I died to the final boss the first time because I spent my mana like crazy on the first attempt lol, but on the second one I got carried by Overclock + Moon Phases + bombs, super fun combo would reccomend, and I do kinda wanna try doing the other endings later, if I remember to

But I think that's it for my comment, I actually don't really have any real critiscism I think, this is a super solid game

Loved a lot of things about this game: It is funny, there are a lot of interactions and choices the player can make, the battle system + pearl upgrades give some serious variety to the gameplay, and more!

It was a really solid experience!

Great game! The turn-based combat and roguelite mechanics were surprisingly engaging and the story did a good job introducing and explaining each of them. I didn't notice any bugs either, which I think is quite impressive for a project that clearly pushes the boundaries of a visual novel. I lost to the final boss the first time, and had to replay the whole game because I didn't realize I was supposed to save manually.😂 Fortunately it didn't take too long once I knew what I was doing, and I managed to get the Unity ending!

Might actually be my favorite game so far in terms of theme implementation as well, I really liked how the various themes were reflected both in gameplay and the narrative. I also enjoyed the writing and humor a lot and was quite attached to the main characters' antics by the end (which is why I don't think I'll be going for any of the "bad" endings, although I am kinda curious...).

If you're planning to continue working on it after the jam (or any future projects in this style), I think different backgrounds for the various sub-areas would be a nice addition. I rate this gay baby jail 8/10, would get jailed again!

Just realised I never quite explained saving (or anything) on the game's page, oopsie :x thanks for the reminder!

I lost to some derpy snake! Pretty cool dungeon crawling visual novel! I am pretty impressed that there is a full combat system, made inside renpy too. Good work!

The name of this game spoke to me, so I was happy to see it in my rating queue. I quite liked it!

There’s some funny dialog (nothing beats a jelly-filled donut!) and I like the implied worldbuilding and the dynamic between the two main characters. The decision-making about combat wasn’t the most interesting to me, it seems like just attacking and healing is enough to get you through most fights, and that + moondance was enough for the final boss. RenPy isn’t really made for combat so the fact that there’s a fairly extensive combat system at all is impressive.

Very ambitious to try and include every theme and optional challenge too, nice job overall!
