This was actually super fun! The art and mechanics were *chefs kiss*. The only critcism I'd have is what bittyBIGstudio mentioned in their first point too. The margin of error for small guy jumping spikes is so small that I did not think it was an option. I had to read the comments coz I thought lvl 5 was impossible.

That aside, the mechanics are super smooth and the level progression is great. I struggled in lvl 4 (not knowing small guy can jump spikes) but then realized small guy can move independently when big guy is recovering from double jump. Very satisfying and engaging and i like that there's different ways to get thru levels.

Thanks so much! Yeah, that’s a good point to bring up, it’s definitely tough getting the balance right, that’s a good suggestion and we can definitely fix it in the future! Thank you again for taking the time to play and review!

there were very few issues, as such, everything is really quite nice. So the few things are nitpicks and should be seen as such, overall game is very good. I really enjoyed the sound effects, and the them usage overall. Highly rated experience.

  1. the jump height of the main player is only enough to clear the spikes pixel perfect, and that is a bit annoying, more than challenging.

  2. touching the side of the spikes kills you even when you’re not jumping. again, that’s annoying more than challenging.

  3. art difficulty, in spikes on that one level where the spikes blend in with the corner of the 3 grass tiles, just try to avoid that or make the spikes more clear

  4. The final level…no. lol

Developer(+1)

Haha entirely fair, thanks for the review! Your 4th comment made me laugh, I think that is a solid critique on how to improve the game in a future release, thanks for playing!

Submitted(+3)

Quite enjoyable. I liked the puzzle solving more than the platforming. :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Could you elaborate a little bit more on that? What did you like with the puzzle solving? Did you dislike the platforming? Could you explain a bit more?

Submitted(+1)

Sure. But first congratulations for winning the jam. Obviously your game was great overall. :)

I think what I didn't like was, that the jump and run mechanic is momentum based, I think. I know that works in sth. like Super Mario, but here, because you have to align with the bottom character, I feel a jump mechanic with a more instant velocity would have benefitted. (I did a lot of times in the last screen, because I was fiddling with the velocity.)

Also the spikes were hard to see sometimes, maybe a different color would have been more visible.

But in the end, still a good game and idea. I think my gripes are just about balancing issues, between two distinct genres. :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!! That's interesting to hear, I really appreciate the feedback! Yeah, a lot of people said the spikes need to be more visible, we'll need to go back in and fix that. And dude, no worries, I really appreciate you taking the time to give a critique, that's how we will get better in the future, thank you!

This is amazing, truly. The art style, the music, the mechanics. It made me want to continue playing, even tho I am soo bad at puzzles that I managed to get stuck after some levels. Only suggestion I have is to make the blades that kill you more different from the grass, and then it's perfect.

Developer

Thanks so much, that's great to hear! That last note is a really good one to hear. Someone else brought to our attention that the spikes were hard to see, your insight provides better clarity on that point, thank you!

hey!! just played this and i am honestly mind-blown by how well the mechanics work together. the character controlling is such a brilliant and deep interpretation of the duality requirement!!

the double jump impulse feels incredibly satisfying and the level design does a great job of introducing the concept through the menu and the first stages. the visual and audio feedback are super clean and it really makes the experience feel premium.

everything feels very intentional and well polished, definitely one of the most clever entries i have played so far. great job to the whole team!!

that was the best game of the whole jam, i'm pretty sure!!

if there's one thing I'd like in a future update, it would simply be more levels! nothing else.

congrats on the submission!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for that feedback, we did our best to make the best game we could, Sam Larson,  the artist, was even  badly sick during the jam and still manage to make all the assets for this game.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

sorry to hear that, hope he gets well soon! congrats to him, again the visuals are stunning. you both surely did an amazing job.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, this was such an awesome review to receive, thank you! I was the team member who was trying not to die from a day flu during production of the game haha! I hope we can do more levels in the future, I would love to flesh out the game more and see where it goes! Thank you again for playing!

Submitted(+1)

mad respect for pulling this off while feeling that sick, man. you really killed it on the art!!

definitely looking forward to those extra levels if you guys decide to keep going with the project. take care of yourself and thanks again for the response !!

Developer(+1)

It was a rough weekend haha, thank you so much! I will try to let you know if/when we come up with more levels, hopefully we can get you to playtest them! We have a couple projects to prioritize right now, so it may take some time before we come back to this one, thank you so much again for playing and for leaving such an awesome review!

Great game! The final level was kind of frustrating because of the thigh timing and positionament, but the game was fun anyways.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! That is a good note, I had a buddy say he got stuck on that level for about 15 minutes, that is definitely a fair point, thank you so much for playing!

Submitted(+2)

To be honest, I liked the jump system and the graphics are simple and clean.

Great Work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, that's great to hear!

I like the jumping mechanic, nice idea!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing!

I won! I liked the concept a lot and the simple colors made it easy to tell what was going on. The only criticism I have is that it bugged out and my players went invisible. (I just refreshed the page to fix it) Awesome game!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Yeah, that is a very valid critique, did anything happen before they went invisible? Any weird collisions or anything? I didn't encounter that glitch, that's a good one to know about.

Submitted(+2)

I did go off the tab when that happened, so probably some really big lagspike

Developer

That's good to know, thanks for giving us the heads up!

Submitted(+2)

Very nice game, the only downside I noticed is that the spikes are almost invisible.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! That's an interesting note, if we come back to add more to this game in the future, we could look into how to define the spikes more. Thanks again for playing!

Submitted(+2)

The type of game to pop into my head when I'm trying to sleep wishing I had thought of it, so well made and so clever!! The concept is so unique it's very enjoyable to play. No notes, just that I wish the game was longer because it's fun to play :D

Menu animations go so hard too it's crazy, solid first impression to have that be the opener.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! That's amazing to hear, thank you! We spent a couple of hours brainstorming together struggling to come up with a concept, we were so pumped when we finally came up with a concept that would work! Thank you again for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Fantastic game! Completed all the levels in no time

Developer

Thank you! I wanted to make more levels, but I couldn't come up with ideas for more.

Submitted(+2)

Cool game!

I love how you introduce the meaning of double jump in the menu already.

This is as far as I got. I suck at games.

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Haha glad you enjoyed it, in that level is best to not use the big guy's jump till the end, the small guy can jump those spikes by himself.

Submitted(+2)

SICK!

Developer

Thanks so much for checking it out!!

Submitted(+2)

That's really good game!!! interesting mechanism, cute art and good SFX!!! I pass all levels and i hope i can play more levels.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'm bad with level design, and with that mechanic, it's even harder for me to come up with more levels haha hope you found them interesting at least.
