Your Game feels really polished. The Sprites, Animations, Music and Minigames fit together quite well. I failed quite often in the beginning but after learning the Minigames and getting some upgrades the experience felt very smooth

Submitted(+3)

I really enjoyed it. I was a bit confused by the thumbnail mini-game at first and failed a few times quickly, but once I understood it, it became simple. The mini-games getting progressively harder and the members approaching faster made the experience very tense and exciting.

I had a lot of fun with this game! Reminds me of WarioWare which I’m a big fan of, and mixing it with and endless runner was cool. The aesthetic, art, and music were also really cute, the polish on all the assets feels really nice.

It definitely feels a bit rough before getting double jump because of awkward spawns you can’t evade, but it’s smooth after that. I also should have read the description cause I couldn’t figure out the recording game for a bit, but I got it eventually. I admittedly did not pick up every uprade so might have missed something, but I got most of them, and I do wish there was some kind of scoring system in general but especially for once you collect every upgrade.

Great work!

Developer(+1)

Once you get a game over, you can see how far you've ran, which counts as an informal scoring system.
Though I understand this could be expanded on!

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

I did realize this after I wrote the review. I probably lost too much focus as it was late and I was quitting out the game over screen fast but I did recall seeing how far you went and just forgot about that, so my bad on that. I do agree though that something more formal would be cool too. Thank you for replying!

Submitted(+3)

good multi tasking game. Its a bit frustrating at first because two mistakes in succession would be enough to end the run.

Submitted(+3)

Pretty good!

The humor was great and the gameplay was pretty solid. At first I had lots of trouble with the minigames but nobody said being an idol was easy!!

The best part of it was... the Triple Jump!!!

Congratulations, such a good game with a pretty good theme :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Everyone always talks about the skills required to be a Hololive Idol, but most people don't realize the importance of Triple Jump on your rƩsumƩ.

Fantastic work.  The minigames are fun, perfect for auto-piloting while focusing on dodging.  The changing difficulty of the minigames was handled great, just disorienting enough to keep things fresh.  The upgrade system is especially neat for a mini-game focused project like this, really nice job on that.

I feel like the signing game doesn't match up using the whole keyboard while the rest uses just two buttons, but I'm not sure what a better option would be.

I do find it funny and ironic that a valid strategy is to hold off finishing your minigames until the last second so you have more time between them.

Developer

Finishing your work at the last second before the deadline is a time-honored tradition, and one we are glad to represent in our game! Of course, since minigames give you coins, there's a case to be made for trying to finish as many as possible.

The signing minigame is indeed the odd duck, but I personally like its quirkiness. Don't ask me how we would add controller support...

Submitted(+3)

This game is adorable and very well done. I like how the tasks change just enough to keep it from being repetitive. The inbox jokes were perfect.

Developer

I'm glad the inbox jokes are well-received! We aren't giving you a lot of time to read them all, after all, haha.

The tiny jump annoyed me a little at the start, but it got pretty fun after I unlocked bigger jumps

Developer

You have to have something to work for, after all.
Fortunately, the first jump upgrade is pretty cheap!

Incredible Kiara simulator, really makes you feel like living in her shoes haha! Stunning work! The art style is beautiful, sound effects are crunchy and the music really gets you going! Farthest I got was 1085 meters. Love the mini games with all the references, and the progression of difficulty in them as well! The backwards sign really got me the first time lmao. And the yappers start going crazy fast at some point. Very engaging pacing! Amazing game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, and for the very kind compliments!! It's great to hear that everything came together well!

To yap, or not to yap... that is to be yapped upon...

Jam Judge(+3)

Fun and addictive game! I ended up maxing out all upgrades. XD

I like how you adapted tengnose's sprites into the game and crafted an enviroment that fit well with the style.

The minigames were varied enough and fun to do! That reverse signature minigame came outta nowhere and was pure evil! XD (I hadn't read the game's description and wasn't prepared for that haha)

Good job on the music remix too!

My best run:

Developer

Thanks so much for playing!! Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself and the work we put into this littol game.

Tengnose's sprites are indeed beautiful, and were easy to adapt where needed — although funnily enough, we made the backgrounds before choosing to use the sprites! As for the signature minigame, well... we had to earn our place in the Usual Room somehow 草

Developer

Thank you very much! We had to do all our programming in just 4 days, so I'm very happy with the result, even though my mind is still racing with ideas for improvements.
I'm glad you liked the reverse signature. I must admit, I was grinning whilst thinking it up. :^)

Submitted(+3)

Really enjoyed this submission!

All the minigames are unique, and easy to manage while avoiding the other members (except for the signing one, but that's intentional of course). The music is great, the art is fantastic, all the little references around between the thumbnails and the IMs are hilarious, there's meta-progression to work towards in the background. I think this is pretty much a perfect expansion on the endless runner genre, and all the new features the team has put into it slot in perfectly!

Everything in the game was polished, I didn't seem to encounter any bugs, and managed to max out all the upgrades in probably 20 or so minutes, so it was a perfect bite sized experience.

Overall pretty much top marks from me, excellent job from the team!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much!

It's funny, on paper I thought the signing may be too simple. After all, you just have to press the same buttons every time.
In practice, it's actually pretty hard to manage! But personally, I find it exactly the right amount of tricky, haha.

Submitted(+3)

The art is really cute! The multi-tasking is crazy but it shows the hectic nature of their work.

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad we could capture that hectic nature of facing deadlines!

Were you intentionally trying to make the signature minigame confusing? Cause the first two times it I got the second version I thought it was a bug, and you game page instructions only made it worse. Similarly, the thumbnail creation doesn't make it clear what the point is, and the answering of emails initially looked like a trivia prompt.

Hey! Since I can't catch you anywhere else:

Don't delete your feedback, I know your feedback is meant to be genuine + you self-describe as a hermit, but:

  • Can you edit / write all of them in a way that is constructive and doesn't come across as offensive or rude?

The devs will be able to receive your feedback and improve w/ it, instead of getting hooked on "this guy is an asshole" LOL

You do a good job w/ some feedbacks, saying what you liked and what could be improved + an example / suggestion or thoughts to consider -> but your post here & other of your posts offer critiques that read less as constructive "I didn't like X because Y, what if you tried Z because W?" and more as berating or offensive in a way that discourages the dev and leaves them w/ no room for growth... which plenty of gamers do that, but that doesn't help devs improve now, does it? 😌

So, just to give you some context on the comment you highlighted, the part I referred to on the instructions page is "T.KIARA keys — :^)", and the first version in-game is always "TKIARA" for 1 or 2 times followed by "T.KIARA", with the requirement of typing the period if and only if it shows up. The likelihood of missing that difference entirely seems like it would've come up already, and that pointy nose face makes it seem like there was supposed to be a humorous element to that. As such, my initial question "Were you intentionally trying to make the signature minigame confusing?" was entirely literal, and I'm not sure how else I could ask that.

Host(+4)

I appreciate the context! To clarify: devs + admins and I are less worried about this game's comment, and more others. English is a very flexible context-aware language, which is why I think you did intend to give genuine feedback...

and I do think you left good useful feedback on a lot of games (which I appreciate ya playing all of them, I read all the feedback too); namely "Just In Time", "Wrath of Kanaeru", "Overtime Overdrive!", "INASHI", "Cecilia Immergreen and the Clockwork Nexus", "In a timely manner", "HoloJam Simulator", "Kronii, I Shrunk the Holos!", "Ameverse: Dimensional Peril", "Ame Pocket - HoloJam 7", "Holo: TimeChaos", "Gigi Ceci Quest", "Holo Fly Frenzy", "No Time To Reap", "Da Work and La Work", and "Cleanup, Time!"

-> but some of your feedback points (e.g. for this game, "CC's Day Off", "DoppelgƤnger", "Holomyth: Last Stand", "Chikoku Koseki", "HOLOPOP", "Grem Escape", "Kroniic Time", "Gigi Against The Clock", "Deadconcert"; and some in the list above's feedbacks) would stand better with brief explanations and suggestions that show why it matters to the player, such as the color contrasts and unhelpful / unnecessary / boring / "design you interpret as bad" moments -- e.g. stating why so, noting subjective vs not, what would feel better to you, considering other players and scope / dev time, offering suggestions that show problem solves / point to existing game designs that work well, etc

and minimizing remarks + wordage that can be misinterpreted defensively, like the "I guess in that sense you're in good company" after your negative Sonic design feedback (which you could rework to use helpful neutral language instead that shows why you thought so and offers helpful suggestions to avoid the same pitfalls, to avoid an accidental attack and give the dev a chance to think about it meaningfully)

does that help clarify my feedback for you? I don't mean to sound harsh or discourage you from leaving feedback, and hope it helps you understand how devs may be interpreting you!

e.g. for this game: with the extra feedback you just gave me for it, instead of "Were you intentionally trying to make the signature minigame confusing? ... and you game page instructions only made it worse." which is worded provocatively without helpful recourse, I would try (after listing what I liked) something like

The signature minigame confused me to the point I thought it was bugged, because the first two times gave me the second version and misled me in noticing the period <kano note: if that's what tripped you up, not fully sure>, and the "T.KIARA keys -- :^)" in the controls that hinted at the solution to that felt more misleading than funny (if it was meant to be). I think the minigame would be less frustrating for the player if we reworked that hint or got rid of that confusion </ and instead did X / insert potential suggestion here if present... if you don't have one, that's often okay too, as long as context & rationale is there>

(sorry tenchou devs for hosting this in your comments page ww -> great jam entry btw ^^, I echo others' sentiments and suggestions)

Developer (1 edit) (+3)

No worries! I have pretty thick skin, so I'm not bothered. Let's hope it can be a good learning experience for all of us!

Developer(+1)

Heya! Thanks for the feedback.
To clarify: The intention is that, the longer you play, the harder the minigames get. At first, you are allowed to skip the . in T.KIARA, but as you go on, you're no longer allowed to. (And it gets even worse later on).

If we do ever make a second version, I would like to clarify the thumbnail minigame some more. The point is to choose the 'correct' thumbnail, of course.

(+3)

I was needed few losses to understand that there symbol "," in T,Kiara

Developer

We allow you to skip it at first.... But later on it does indeed become mandatory.

Submitted(+3)

I really like the art and premise. Very cute interpretation of the theme. Even if I'm super bad at the multitasking required to be good, I had fun!

Developer

Thank you very much! We strove to capture the hectic nature of facing many deadlines. Properly dividing your focus is often the key, both in real life as well as our game, I'd say!

Submitted(+3)

Cute game, had a lot of fun playing.

Developer

Thank you! We wanted to make a simple, but fun game, and I think we succeeded!

Submitted(+3)

That was pretty good! And the first game I've played featuring another character for this theme! I liked the minigames midpath. (War flashbacks from Banana Kong)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Most of us have Kiara as our oshi, and I personally love going the non-obvious route. So the choice was kind of a no-brainer!

Submitted(+1)

This is very more amusing and surprising than going for the "obvious path" indeed!

Submitted(+3)

Really fun and addictive gameplay! I can totally see myself playing this for hours, the music, sfx and art is really well done too.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing!! And for the lovely compliments!!! Don't let your deadlines catch up if you do play for hours :P

Submitted(+3)

I like the fact that the gameplay involves having to multi-task, it captures that feeling of rushing trying to meet a deadline while desperately juggling multiple things lol
The art and music are cute!

Developer

Thank you for playing!! Glad to hear you liked the music & art! And that the feeling of deadline-panic shone through lol

Submitted(+3)

Really cute art!!! The game becomes basically impossible starting from 1000m lol

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, and happy to hear you liked the art!! The original character sprites are by Tengnose and were adapted by us, and everything else was made by the team.
Also wow that's a lot of coins in one playthrough www

Developer(+1)

We ourselves were trying to outrun our own deadline, so I never got to test how the game plays at long distances. I am incredibly impressed!
