Congrats on releasing your first game! I liked the use of the theme for the gameplay loop and the art was cute. I do agree it was a bit repetitive once you had to grind (especially for speedrun mode, I feel that should come free from completion), but the controlled environment is nice for the speedrunning too.

On paper, speeding up movement to help you get through the dungeon faster was nice. However, even at speed 2 it started to feel a bit fast as to be hard to control for me. It is necessary to have the speed boost be high but maybe there might be a way to control the speed a bit more.

The hitbox on the attack felt a bit tight, a lot of attacks felt like they should have hit slimes but didn’t.

I think the sound effects were nice but I think collecting a pebble also should have had one, feels like it’s noticeably missing with everything else having a collection sound.

Good work overall!

I had fun speedrunning this. The loop was simple but i really liked how high the skill ceiling went, especially landing those perfect ohkos on slimes without breaking momentum. I wish there was a quick reset button though. Lotta runs died to missing a good slime hit. I think this is the current comments section PB. I challenge the next person who sees this to beat it >:)

Wow 34.81 that's crazy good o.O Really good point with the quick reset button! If and when I'll touch it again I will definitely add this, maybe es an early shop item after the first clear so farming coins would also be less of an hassle when it's only about getting the timer haha. Thank you for putting so much time into my game! :>

Jam Judge(+1)

The game is well balanced around getting the powerups and learning the optimal path in each level to get enough time to reach the goal.

I managed to clear the game with 2 speed powerups and 3 sword powerups.

Cute heart shaped pebbles at the end. :)

Solid pixel art and appropriate music.

The time limit/loop also fits well with the jam's theme.

I like that you can unlock a speedrun mode after beating the game! Nice replayability value!

Some improvement suggestions:

- Add volume controls

- A visual indicator when the "speed up" buff is on would be nice feedback for the player.

Good game.

Developer

Thank you for for playing my game and taking your time to write some good suggestions on how to make it better!

That was really fun, the art was really cute and the gameplay was really fun.  I love games like this where you strategize and optimize over multiple runs.  And good job getting a progression system like that, fantastic work.

It was a great idea to add a speedrun option, although I think the price for it is rather high.

I hope you enjoyed the game jam, and learned a lot from this experience! :D

Developer

Thank you very much!! Yes even tho it became really stressfull near the end and thought about throwing in the towel and don't submit anything at all I'm very happy that I pushed through and see the reaction of all the people who enjoyed my silly little unpolished gem :D Learned alot about aseprite and godot too haha

Fire speedrunning game! Had a lot of fun trying to optimize the run but it's pretty hard lol. Well done for your first game!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for putting the extra time into my game :> Very good time! I think I couldn't get it under 42 or so during playtesting haha

Cute game!

Good job on the sprite work and the music!

And a persistent system plus save file in your first game is really impressive - that took me like 4 games to start looking into lol

I also like that the enemies have a chance to drop items to help during each run.

I have to second it gets a little repetitive, but I can see where the idea came in of trying to find the best route through all the rooms, and leaving them in order means the player doesn't have to worry as much about what room they need to be prepared for next, which randomization would take away from.

But regardless, good work, and congrats on your first game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for your feedback! I just mentioned in another comment that I originally planned alot more randomizing with the rooms but my vision was too ambitious and had to be cut with my current skills haha. I could have increased the drop rates abit to make grinding easier, the enemies have a 50% chance to drop either a coin, speed up or time up with chances from highest to lowest in that order haha

Very impressive to have a working upgrade system on your first game! Love the programmer music LOL.

Gameplay is fun, but it kinda gets a little repetitive after a few runs when grinding for coins, I think you can easily reduce the repetitiveness it by sprinkling a few randomization here and there. Doesn't have to be drastic, just change the placement/appearance of enemies/pebbles/items on each map, I think it will help a lot to increase the replayability.

Great work! Thanks for making this!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback!! My OG vision was to randomize level 2 - 9 with different tasks and to finish it with a boss, on top of having a hard mode with double the stages and a true boss lmao. Both was sadly above my skill for this short time and little time in general so it sadly had to be cut haha.
And again, thank you for playing my silly game :D

Everyone else already mentioned my nitpicks, though I'll add I think the ramp up to get going is a tad long for buying the power ups. Good job!

Developer

Thank you! OG Ramp was abit steep, that's why the timer costs 100 coins. It would have been in line with the other items but again with time crunch I just left it ontouched after nerfing the cost of the other items. Might at least keep walking speed low because level 0 walking speed really hurts after experiencing level 3 haha

Well done small game. Every my complains already been listed in the comments. Keep a good work

Developer

Thank you!!

Neat Hades-like, it kept me persisting. Everyone else mentioned my nitpicks already though.

Developer(+1)

Ty! :> Haven't played hades myself and only watched some videos about it but now that you mention it, I think my original vision for it was pretty similar without it realizing tbh lmao

Managed to finish the game in under a minute! The gameplay is simple but biboo is cute. There is a lot of controls on the left hand but none on the right. So it would be nice if the arrow keys could be used for movement as well.

Developer

Thank you for playing my game this much! Yeah I thought early to add the arrow buttons too but when the time started to run out I simply forgot lmao

Submitted(+1)

Artwise the game is pretty cute and has it's own charm. I would say the game could be better, but it's a gamejam so it can be excused. One thing is definitely the combat as the hitbox is pretty misleading, although the game itself is pretty straightforward so it's easy enough to understand the mechanics.

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback! Yea I wish I could have decorated the stages more, sadly ran out of time and and to cut alot of corners (besides not being an artist tbh lmao)
Hitboxes are abit buggy yes, thought about offsetting it by making the hitbox bigger but forgot about it at the end haha

Submitted(+1)

The combat is not as bad as I usual see for someone's first attempt, but it's slog to get through. After I hit the second stage with slimes I just lost interest.

Developer

Thank you for your thoughts! Yes originally I wanted to make it so it should be possible to get through the game on the first go but because of time I scrapped that and now it's more recommended to get 6 coins for the sword upgrade asap so you go from a 10-shot on enemies to a 4 shot and so on...

Submitted(+1)

Very cool! I like the gameplay loop of going through the levels over and over to try to find the best routes that will both get you coins and give you enough time to beat the game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you!!

Awesome game very fun to skidaddle on high speeds but I think endless mode should be free instead of 100 money, feels a bit discouraging to even try it out! Also that music lmao.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! It's my first game I've ever done so that's very encouraging to hear!
