Such a cute little game, I really believed in Nuwa's mission, and wanted her to succeed. It's a fun challenge trying to dodge enemy shots while collecting the different pieces of the sky, and I liked that you could actually see the sky coming back, piece by piece. The various power-ups were very cool too, I liked that you really leaned into that theme. Good work!

Simple but really cool to play! Cute design, the powerups felt very powerful! One improvement could be to better differenciate the bonus from enemies.

So cool to see a pico8 game, very charming art and fun sound effects, great work on this!

Ooooh, a PICO-8 game. You inspired me a lot with how you designed your player, enemies, and abilities. I just started using the PICO-8 so I can learn a lot from games like yours. I especially love the effect when you blow up an enemy. So cool! I felt pretty damn powerful after upgrading my weapon a few times, so great job using the limitation in that way. I do wish the collision for collecting pieces of the sky was more generous. Sometimes it felt like they passed right through me. But I know how collision can be with the PICO-8! Still, I had fun, great job on the game :)

Thanks for the feedback!

We made a slightly more sophisticated collision detection based on yours (and many others) feedback. There are a few other quality of life improvements, hope you have time to give it a shot again!

This was so cute and fun! It’s a really enjoyable small scope game. :)

This was really enjoyable, nice simple mechanics and a good ramp up of power to the point where you just press a button and everything dies,  the dream!

Pretty solid for a PICO-8 game made in just a few hours. I liked the retro arcade/Atari-style visuals and sound effects, and the pixel particles when killing aliens felt great. After a few upgrades, it was really satisfying watching the screen fill with pure pixel destruction. Nice work!

Despite being overpowered with the later upgrade, I still managed to lose. Not sure if it's skill or a skill issue lol.

Was fun, well done!

Only thing that I think really needs improvement is the hitboxes because there were times where I definitely touched a bullet but didn't take damage, and others where it looked like I avoided a bullet but still took damage. Not sure how programming with Pico-8 is so maybe it's due to the limitations of the engine.

Thanks so much for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

Totally agree on the hit box thing. We used the same simple calculation for every collision assuming everything is an 8x8 sprite, so there’s definitely some issues like you saw.

Cheers!

Really like how the cat becomes overpowered after a few upgrades. Nice intro and ability to playing with two players is a nice touch. Kinda miss those days when I used to have that option.

At first I was feeling pretty underpowered. I played a few times and didn't make it very far. But once I got the 5 spread shot and realized I could just hold down the fire button, boy did I feel overpowered. Great job!

Thanks so much! My daughter did all of the art, sound, story, and design for the game as well as the original PoC. I just helped with some of the typing :)
