Cute poses on the tricks when I could pull them off. Feels a bit too fast though.

I love the concept and the art! But the game is overwhelmingly hard for me. Jump windows are too small and didn't figure out how to evade the penguin. Also getting hurt when failing to slope-jump feels a bit too much.
Other than that, nice entry! And good theme implementation. It could be a really enjoyable game if well balanced
Really loved the animations on this one. The main character's different poses when they're speeding up/slowing down/jumping/doing tricks were top notch!
Unfortunately I'll echo some other comments here about the jumping - it's very difficult to pull it off properly, and there's not a lot of feedback to tell me why I did or didn't succeed on doing one of the huge wave jumps. Additionally, the small jump (with the spacebar) is so short and quick that it gives very little time to clear the obstacles in your way. The large black birds required almost a frame-perfect jump on my machine anyway.
That being said, there's a lot of charm here, and a really cool mechanics with getting a high enough surf score to get past each level, so great job on that front!
This was a good start for a 'platformer/scroller' with the waves theme. I found the jump a bit 'jarring' as well. Meaning the jumps were a little high and landing let less realistic feel. Overall, the core pieces to a solid game are presented and good pixel graphics bring the game to an honest submission.
I don't recall hearing sounds, perhaps its my volume. Also I fell less in control of how to jump and surf the waves. Honestly I didn't read the instructions as usual, so the surfing, speeding up and things were less obvious and could probably be improved.
Maybe it's my dexterity but I found it really difficult to ride the waves the intended way and since that was punished, I had to start over again and again and couldn't get to the point to nail a trick. Could be really cool and fun though.
I believe the game could have used more focusing on the main gameplay mechanic - surfing waves. I found it far too difficult to dodge the white birds on the light blue background, and taking damage when not surfing the wave correctly made me restart a lot. The tricks and their animations were a really cool touch, and the floating to the surface after landing a jump was nice :)
I think maybe decreasing the gravity and the jump height could have made the jumps feel better.

Amusing game! I think taking damage and having to restart when you 'die' took away a bit from the gameplay, I think it could be improved by focusing on tricks and higher scores, maybe chaining tricks, and instead of losing health maybe losing points?
I may also be unskilled however ;) Nice submission!
