Very interesting game! It plays really well and I like that you can see your own tail! Ending was funny too.
I think it would benefit from a second weapon, maybe a dash that could chomp up some enemies or something like that, because then you'd get the sense you are really evolving (on top of the power ups). But this is a really solid entry and I didn't experience any bugs or had my GPU melt! Good job!!
The ending was a bit of tonal whiplash that somehow managed to wrap everything up nicely! I really enjoyed level 2, as the openness of it really complimented the combat loop that felt too restricted in the corridors of level 1. the boss fights were a nice touch, especially for a gamejam!
Huge game for a jam, surprised there was two different bosses with one becoming an enemy. Wished the enemy (white blood cell I think?) projectiles were a little slower it feels impossible to dodge them its almost hit scan like. Searching for the button is not always fun, but I think they mainly just need a visual tweak to stand out a little. Visuals definitely disturb me which I'm pretty sure is the intention so good on that (T▽T). I also appreciated the difficulty settings as I did not want to have to start over again but would've dealt with it if I had the time haha.
The sound is a bit laggy. The music is very well chosen, and I really like the location designs. The game has its own unique style. The worm's body moves satisfactorily. It's a pretty good, unique game, I like it!
Hhm weird I didn't notice any issues with the sound, do you mean a delay between something happening and the sound playing or something?
This is probably just my problem if no one else has had this. Sometimes the sound starts to crackle and cut out. It wasn't a big deal.
You did a great job on the level design and as others mentioned, I can see the doom inspiration! I hope you continue to work on it after the jam if you choose to.
Thanks! All the gore was fun to make, lol. I really appreciate it, will do!
Awesome Doom-like gameplay! The pixel style is great, and the music really drives the action. Had a ton of fun. Somehow I got stuck in a corner once and couldn’t move, but I just restarted and kept playing! Really solid jam entry, keep it up :)
Thanks! I seriously appreciate the feedback, and the bug report, haha. Sorry you got stuck!
Good job on the game! The scope is incredible, as is the level design. you managed to craft some good levels with boss encounters, variety and even puzzles. I initially found it hard to find the buttons as they seemed very similar to the pulsing light bulbs. If the shape was a little different I guess that would have made it easier. The gory atmosphere mixed with the sometimes funny tone of dialogue and the sequence in the end made for a crazy, action packed and fun game, you can be proud.
I would have enjoyed to have more enemy variety but you can't have it all! Also I see DOOM in here :D
Thanks so much! Yeah I would have loved to make more enemies, I'm just not the best at rigging, haha. Thank you! And yeah DOOM was a big inspo.
An overall silly game, I was expecting a lot when coming into this jam but at no point was I expecting a doomlike with surprisingly well built levels and well paced encounters and a downright hilarious ending. A few gripes would be that on hard the game is practically impossible as all that changes is how much damage you do and how much damage they do. A better difficulty scale would be to add more enemy encounters while only slightly increasing their damage, they already hit you pretty consistently so there's no need to decrease player health or damage. The level design also felt really same-y over the course of the game and it was pretty easy to get lost. Otherwise you did a wonderful job!
Hell yeah! Appreciate the feedback, and I agree. Maybe I'll build on it in the future and refine some of the levels and get more in there, either way appreciated!
Really liked this one! Gameplay was good fun, the ending was absolutely hilarious. Thanks for making this!
Thanks so much!
Looking great!
Let me know what you think if you try it, haha. I think I must have made the goriest submission thus far.
Absolutely! I'll be playing the entries on the weekend!
Nice! Same, I want to see what other folks have made.
