Pretty cute game! I like the 8-bit graphics & music.

It took me a while to figure out exactly how the 'possess' mechanic works, and that I could possess multiple objects.

I got 'stuck' on level 3 - I guess I possessed too many objects because I didn't have enough candy, but the kids stopped coming and the game kept going.   I had to reload the browser window, but I was able to beat that level when I tried again.

its really good. but how do i get out of level one?

Great job! I love your game boy aesthetics, really well done! My only issue was that I got stucked on lvl 2 because I possesed one extra thing thinking there would be more kids coming, and then I couldn't do anything else than to restart the whole game.
But it's a solid entry and very fun :) Well done!

Developer

Oh man I thought I caught all these to stop double possessions

I really enjoyed this one! The boxart looks super legit ^_^ You nailed both the retro and Halloween aesthetics. I also appreciated the inclusion of tutorials; they made it easy to dive right in.

The only hiccup I ran into was that I couldn’t hear the audio. I double-checked that my tab wasn’t muted and that my headphones were working, so I’d appreciate any tips on how to get it playing.

Overall, great job! This was a lot of fun!

Oh, and if you get a chance, I’d love for you to check out my jam entry too: https://masterzeromus.itch.io/hauntlings

Nailed the Gameboy Color  aesthetic, takes me back :D Cute game, well executed retro style, good job!

I would be really happy if you could give my game a review as well!  I promise it will not take much of your time, its fast paced and played rather quickly :)

Played yours and really had a fun time with it! The way you weave in little surprises kept me on my toes, and the art direction gives it a strong character. Great job!

If you’re browsing around, I’d love it if you checked out my jam entry too: [https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977](https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977) — thanks for sharing your work

Am I doing something wrong. I can't seem to get out of the first room on either side

Developer

You need to possess the tree as it says in the intro, then a kid will show up and get scared, and drop the candy, grab all the candy to complete the stage

awesome game! i like the art, it screams cool retro, the controls are responsive and the gameplay is a creative puzzle and action game.  I would suggest that the first level, the tree would be an optional tutorial stage , so that the player can dive right into the action . This has good replay value , overall I enjoyed playing this one, congratulations! keep it up!

Wow, super cool submission here. I love the Game Boy audio and visual representation, super clean! I also love the fact that I was able to possess a cat and scare a kid in a video game. Love it! Well done!

Developer

Haha thanks plenty of Halloween themed ones this week

I really like the aesthetic! It really reminds me of a Game Boy game!
The mechanics is really interesting and I recommend you explore it more in the future!

Really cool art, love the GB aesthetic. The possession mechanic was fun, especially having to plan it, and trying to do it faster to beat your score. Nice music and sound design too, overall really fun game!

Thanks for your comment ☺️

Nice job on your game! The possess mechanic is really interesting. You really have to plan out where and when you want to use it in the later stages. The visuals are awesome, and I like how you created it is as if it were a Gameboy Color game. The only thing I would recommend is changing the visual keys to what they are on the keyboard (Z instead of A) since it is being played on a computer. Well done!

Thanks Ryan appreciate the comment. You hit the nail on the head, I wanted to add a level or replayability so you can plan it out and complete each stager faster you get more points, and the final score is then added up. The game will also run on an original Gameboy colour also as tested on one and the download files are both .rom and .pocket formats

Wow that's really impressive. I don't have a Gameboy color handy, or I would definitely try it out on there too!

Same boy is a good emulator for all them old Roms :-) https://sameboy.github.io/

The art for this game is great, definitely the best thing about the game - but of course possessing items to scare the kids is also a cool and interesting mechanic.

this looks great. can you make it playable in webGL please?  Id like to rate but wont be downloading games.

Developer

The browser version is playable without download

Cute game. Neat idea for the mechanics. I wasn't sure if you made a GameBoy game to tie into the TV theme or not, but I do enjoy the nostalgia.

It felt a little difficult to figure out what can and  can't be possessed. The only thing I found on the second level was the cat.

Good start to a game.

Developer(+1)

Cat, pumpkin, lawn mower, then level 3 there is actually a hint at the load screen it hovers over each, should be, tree, chair , cat , lamp

Wow! This is adorable and really well done! And I was blown away when I tried to open it and discovered it was an actual gbc rom file. It ran via emulator with no trouble at all! If you don't mind me asking, what software did you use to make this? I would love to check it out myself.

Thank you, made with the brilliant gb studio tool
