Coll little game and well done on the game jam!! The sound is cool and the mechanic to throw is nicely done as well! Had fun playing this game and hope you all can check out our game as well! Thanks!
Hi, thanks for playing! I'll definitely give yours a go.
Cute game, loved the art and the SFX, they were really charming! It took me a while to realize I couldn't jump while holding the sheep. Surprisingly difficult puzzles, I got stuck in the third stage since the sheep were too slow or maybe I was dumb lol
Thanks for playing! I probably should add that you can't jump while holding things to the description (if anyone ever reads them anyway!). Shame you got stuck, I tried to do a little progression and introduce the mechanics but lack of explanation probably makes things frustrating. You can run faster than the sheep and chucking them changes their direction (actually a bug, but helps!).
This is quite an interesting puzzle-solving game. The sound effects are pretty cool, and the fact that the voices were done by your kids, especially Dave, is really impressive.
I noticed some other reviews mentioned adding visual indicators, and I agree with that. It would be a great improvement, especially for the last few levels where throw sheeps may require more precision. There are also a some of minor bugs when restarting or continuing (like being on menu but the game is still playing behind the scene), but nothing game-breaking.
I managed to beat the game and save humanity and at the cost of Dave begone (sorry Dave, but go back to where you came from). That said, a few puzzles in the final levels, like the one shown in this screenshot, felt like they required either a bit of luck (method 1) or some unconventional techniques (method 2). In this case, I had to throw the sheep, jump, and catch it mid-air just to avoid the traps. I feel not many players would think of this approach, so I’m curious if that was the intended solution.
Regardless, overall, great job making a complete and creative game from start to finish!
Oh wow, thanks for playing and thanks for the detailed review! Really appreciate that you took the time. Agreed there is some annoyances with the menus, they took way longer than they should and still were having issues with the animations restarting - I resorted to hardcoding forced states but it still breaks sometimes - really I need to rip that bit out and redo it.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to make a progression of sorts and introduce the items, but the fences needed more intro really, you can pick up the first one and place it further back to trap the sheep, I never even thought of chucking them over the scenery, that is amazing! Thanks again.
The game is entertaining and very original, I must say. The sound is very good. Although I might add a visual launch indicator, as it would greatly improve the experience, but otherwise it's a very good game. Good work!
Thanks for playing! Yeah definitely will add that if I decide to extend it.
I'm glad I tried your game. It's funny, but also creepy. Check out my game, and see if your kids can figure it out. All the best.
Haha, thanks for playing!
Humanity did not survive Dave's coming, but at least its last moments were spent on wholesome fun with sheeps.
I liked the concept of the game, and the overall execution was fun, especially the sound design. Personally, I would prefer more level variety and some visual indicator of the trajectory of the throw; hopefully, this is something you would consider if you are to continue working on this game in the future.
Thank you for the game!
Thanks for playing! Agreed I should have made time to add the 'charge up' for the throw, not sure if I want to continue with it but if I do it will be the first addition. As for levels - I did have a few more planned (and using the pumpkins more) but time - as always - didn't permit.
The physics in this game was fun. I like how throwing different objects (including yourself) each had their own custom death animation. These seems to be a narrative regarding Dave that I’d be interested in seeing expanded upon, since we only get a little info about him at the end. Keep it up!
Thanks for playing! Unfortunately like most of Lovecrafts horrors, Dave doesn't care about humanity. But we care about Dave.
Was Dave’s voice actually recorded by children? That’s awesome!
Throwing the sheep into the hole was a bit tricky, but I managed it after a few tries.
I found the idea of feeding the monster in the pit to protect yourself really interesting.
At first, I thought it was a game about escaping, but realizing that you can’t escape and can only feed it made it even more fascinating to me
Thanks for playing! Yeah, all the sfx were made by my kids! There really should be a 'charge up' bar to make it obvious that the length of click determines how far you throw things - I should add that to the description too. Thanks for the feedback.
Interesting little project. Took me a while to figure out how to properly throw sheeps, but aside from that the game was really good.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for playing and the feedback! It definitely looks like I should have added that 'charge' bar for the throwing.
I liked the visual style. Did you draw everything yourself?
Do I need to feed the creature and move on this way?
Hi, Thanks for playing!
Yes everything other than the fonts are hand made - sprites, animation, sfx (by my kids) and music. Feed the creature sheep - he's hungry!
Funny game, cute art! Enjoyed this one!
Thanks for playing!
