Game Description
A short 2D action-platformer where you shift between parallel dimensions to overcome challenges.

How does your game tie into the theme?
The protagonist’s magical mask grants her the power to shift between dimensions. The theme reflected both in the story and in how the game plays around Godot’s collision masks as the center mechanic.

This project is very well polished and I can't get over the art style, the character animations are so good! Such a good design. I love the way the mechanics make for some interesting platforming, kinda wished there was some kind of visible grid to reference to make remembering where platforms are in each dimension a little easier, and I feel that the controls are great for the platforming, but not so great for combat. The boss was pretty frustrating for me, if it took less hits to phase it and/or the player had more than one health, I'd be a happy camper, but as is it forces a very cautious playstyle and adds in a lot of wait time, which feels asynchronous with the high energy music for that boss fight. But there's a lot of good potential here, I'd love to know more about the world and these characters if this were ever expanded into a full game.

Fun game, the dimension shifting mechanic really spices up the platforming! However, I do feel like the controls feel a bit unresponsive. Because it takes time for the player to reach max running velocity after holding left or right, it makes it hard to steer the player, which makes it hard to do precise jumps. Also, I've noticed that attacking locks the player's controls which made a lot of awkward moments when I would fall directly into a pit after hitting the boss. It also could be that I'm simply a terrible player lol, because the estimated playtime is 5-10 mins and my playtime is 40 mins 💀 Even saying so, the levels were genuinely well made and beating the boss felt a bit frustrating (especially with no checkpoints) but I still enjoyed my time.

Great puzzle platformer. The transition between modes was really well done! The eye shape is very memorable which is vital for jams like this to stand out. I do think the low air mobility really hurt the feeling of fairness in the final fight. Like died more to that damn pit then the pylon guy. But great work regardless!

Developer

Thank you! Glad the mode swap stood out! The air movement of the player is definitely something I’ll tweak in future builds.

Good and polished art and gameplay, well applied theme, very smart level design. Good job!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words and thanks for playing!

I really loved how smooth the mechanic felt to use! This was very well done, personally I would have liked if when you had the "eye" open you could see a ghosted version of the original tiles behind it, as I kept turning it off and dying due to being stuck in a wall that I forgot was there (but I'm very bad at games so...). Great submission though all around!

Developer

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the mechanic, and I really appreciate the feedback!

This game has very good visuals, audio, and gameplay. My only gripes are the low air mobility, the cooldown for the sword affecting the ability to toggle the rift mask thing, and the fact that the final boss can kill you in one hit. That first area it goes to is a pain and often the first shockwave it sends out hit me because I was already standing there when it teleported.
If you fix some of those and add some more mechanics and levels, you would have a game that can do very well.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the detailed feedback! I was actually eyeing those issues too during development, but I wanted to see if the added difficulty would make things more interesting. Seems like people are a bit divided on that decision, so I’ll definitely need to do some further study/testing if I continue developing this. Thanks again!

Really fun!! enjoyed the mechanics, it feels very polished. Just wish the boss was easier to dodge :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I’m glad you enjoyed it. And yeah, I definitely could’ve done a better job telegraphing the boss’s attacks 😅

I don't like that you have to stand still to slash. the boss at the end was very frustrating to fight. I like the art tho. got jump scared by the music at the end

i give it a 104 gold coins out of 500 chicken nuggets

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! (and sorry about the "jumpscare" music 😅)

This game is so gorgeous! I thought the player controller felt quite good, and the final boss was challenging but I definitely felt myself getting better over time. The end screen and credits were really beautiful. Amazing work, and congrats on your first submission to GWJ!

Thanks a lot for the kind words! I’m really glad the difficulty and ending resonated with you. It means a lot to hear that from another jammer!

The character controller feels like we're constantly dropping inputs for no reason, hitting the attack button slightly early completely fails to attack at all - not a great feeling when the attack is already quite slow, and any mistake means instant death. It's also pretty frustrating to not know what's in the other world until you mask/unmask, and potentially die because there was a wall there and you didn't know about it (even after playing a level before, it's hard to keep track of the *exact edges* of tiles you can't even see).

The concept and art are quite good, but the gameplay left me frustrated, and the lack of saves or any kind of health in the boss fight made me abandon it at the third teleport.

Developer

Thank you so much for trying out the game and for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate you sharing your honest thoughts — it helps a lot to know where things felt frustrating so I can improve on them.

The shifting is super fun! Character art really pulled me in, and I like how new mechanics / concepts are gradually introduced. Though I still wasn't ready for the challenge in that end boss, and I died more times than I care to admit haha. Enjoyed the challenge, great job :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you found it enjoyable despite the amount of difficulty put in 😅

Super nice platformer game, and a unique game idea.

The level design was very good. I can go through the level without any issues.

The control could be a bit better, and the boss was brutal xD

The art was also very unique, have a nice color palette.

Very good work.

Also play Spectral Mask, we got a cute ghost here with nice platforming here
