Hey! Sorry I am late but I am actually surprised many here in the comments say that the game is unbalanced, the first note I wrote to myself about the game is how well balanced I think it is.

Yeah I mean it's a bit slow, but it fits the kinda cozy slow paced vibe I get from the artstyle, and yes there was no tutorial but as long as you provided some kind of explanation in the description, I think it's fine for a game jam. I gave myself the goal to make a pretty garden personally. And my only remark is that I wish I could long right click on a flower in the shop to sell many flowers at once. Personally I really liked your game, I think you should be very proud. Keep going!

It took me a little while to figure out how to play and get seeds but after that I just wanted  to keep playing! music was very fitting and simulates gardening pretty well too.

I think it would've been nice if you there were some seeds and if the tulips also were worth more money!

I found this to be a very peaceful experience~ I appreciate the long wait times as an element of the game. It feels as though it would make a great desktop idler. Something nice to check in on and grow between periods of work. I would absolutely carry on cultivating my digital garden forever given the chance. Great work <3

Very impressive that you did the art, music and code! I'm glad you had the instructions in the description otherwise I would've been completely lost. I enjoy relaxing games to unwind but I couldn't tell if my plants were growing or not at first. Like other comments suggest, having a meter/bar to show the progression of each plant would greatly help. That aside, it's a very fun and calming game. Great job on your second game jam entry!

i know your tricks buster, you're trying to keep everyone hooked on your dopamine diet of chill gardening so nobody will have time to rate any other games, after 16 hours and 15,000 dollars earned from selling pretty flowers im finally onto you

(good game)

Shhhhhh... you know too much.

Played this for ages! Really enjoyed having this as a slow background game while I ate my lunch

Super fun concept and execution of the idea!

Having the little garden screen was very fulfilling to see your "collection" of gathered plants, as well as going to the shop to see what was new.

I do think on gameplay wise the game is a bit too slow (on progression and economy), and I would have loved more feedback on the growing of the plants (maybe a bar or indicator). The visuals and sounds are also great!

The game was not super intuitive without reading the description. Making weeds sell for 1 even would make that part a bit more enjoyable. Fullscreen and volume adjustment settings would be very welcome.

I love that the plants grew even when you were not on that screen, the game could have more fun stuff to do but looking at the garden is chilling enough :)

Thank for playing! I definitely agree that there are a lot of issues with the balance of the game, and I would have loved a proper tutorial, but there just wasn't enough time to implement one unfortunately. As for the settings, I definitely wouldn't mind making them much more extensive with a proper settings menu rather than just a few buttons. The windows download does have the ability to adjust the screen size, including fullscreen, but I couldn't get it to work properly on the web version so I had to remove the option entirely.

This is SUCH a calm, satisfying play. The gameplay is intuitive and it's so much fun to plant & prune. The character sprites and object art is so cute, and really adds to a great nostalgic/calm atmosphere. I love that the music is also un-invasive and calming.

It would be so nice to have a bar/timer/indicator of how "ready" or not a flower is, so the player is able to have a clearer idea of whether or not the flower is doing well, or perhaps overwatered.

You should be really proud of yourself with this!!

Hey, thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it! A growth indicator wouldn't be a bad idea at all. I'll keep that idea in mind if I ever revisit this game!

The description was helpful for teaching me how the controls work. Then the only question was to figure out what flowers are worth it to grow and sell.  I ended up running a daffodil operation until I had enough to unlock all the pots and collect all the flower types. Here is my garden :)

Such a cozy garden game. It´s so artwork are so charming.

I love the art, music, and the cozy vibe! I mistook the fertilizer as the seeds initially, and was wondering why the plants weren't growing after 1 minute HAHA

Would have loved if hovering over the item would show the item name + what it does!

Developer

That's a really good suggestion! It would certainly help with the confusion I've seen a lot of people experience with this game.

It looks like a super complete game for the short period of time you had ! Well done ! :)

Submitted(+1)

I like the concept and it's a cozy game. I wasn't sure how to make money though

Developer

Hay, thanks for the feedback! I just checked out the vod and I could see how confusing this game can really be. The lack of a proper tutorial is definitely the weakest part of my entry. If your curious, you can sell anything from your inventory by right clicking it while in the shop.

You've got the bones of a good game here. A few notes for improvement:

- Starts off way too slow

- I need something to do while waiting for plants to grow - especially at first, when tending them is a non-issue. I spent a lot of time just starting at them wishing for a fast-forward button

- Needs some sort of "grow X daisies and Y lavender to unlock Z flower" to entice you to keep going

Developer

Hey, thanks for the feedback! I definitely agree that the early game is very unbalanced, and there was plans during development for either a little time waster mini-game or something to do while waiting for flowers to grow. Unfortunately it was scrapped due to time restraints. :( On the last point, I can see what you mean, though you do unlock different flowers in the shop by leveling up, that may have not been super clear due to the lack of a tutorial.

Submitted

One option would be to have time advance in increments when you leave and go do something else. For instance, if you visit the shop and then come back, all the plants will advance 1 growth stage. Or if you go talk to an NPC, the plants will advance their growth. Basically incentivize going to do other activities and returning to your plants to do maintenance and check if they are done growing, rather than just sitting there waiting for real-time to pass.

Very cozy!

Very intuitive even without a tutorial! I do wish the colors were a little more colorful or vibrant but that's more of a subjective/personal preference.

I really love the art and music. I also feel like it is such a nice to game to relax to or something you could do while multitasking with other stuff.

Submitted(+1)

I love the coziness of this game.
The gameplay mechanics are easy to understand, and the music fits well with the game's vibe.
I really liked the NPC, the flowers, and the garden's design.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Calm and cozy is definitely the vibe I was going for so I'm glad it came across. I'm especially glad to hear about the music since this is the first time I've actually committed to making music for my game

Submitted(+1)

For a first time, I think you did a great job. The music complements the game so well.

good luck n_n

Art is really well done, was a little confused if what I was doing was good or bad and felt like I was doing a good amount of sitting around waiting, but over-all cool project!

Developer

Yeah, unfortunately I was working to the deadline so I had very little time for testing. Much of the game is unbalanced because of it, if only I had just a bit more time. >.<

I keep over watering... whoops, haha.
