ty for making the best game in jam will give all 5 stars i tink

i saw some of this game in the discord while the jam was going on, and i was very sad to see that it ended up with no audio at all, since it's so obviously gorgeous to look at

i would definitely recommend working that in gradually so you never end up having to scrap that aspect of the game entirely because of time, definitely would have been willing to help out with sound and stuff but I'm assuming you probably wouldn't have had any issues finding people for it if that's something you wanted

this song is giving like "regina spektor guest starring in a kids tv show" and idk why

very cute, looks cute, sounds cute, and it's interesting to learn the movement and just explore

wait a minute, girly high-intensity parking? that's the most genius idea ive ever heard

i know your tricks buster, you're trying to keep everyone hooked on your dopamine diet of chill gardening so nobody will have time to rate any other games, after 16 hours and 15,000 dollars earned from selling pretty flowers im finally onto you

(good game)

ok yeah this one's a delight

it's interesting when you find jam games that clearly just have a lot of design behind them, mostly these kinds of games end up showing off a lot of great art but fail to deliver on interesting gameplay, or they manage to nail one fun mechanic but can't really place it in the interesting contexts that make it into a structured, evolving challenge

this one has none of those issues, it has fun stuff that interacts in a cool way, and there is clear intent and structure to all of it

the visuals are also very charming and varied, i will say that i think the music could have had more variation to it, or maybe had an extra song added, it did start to get on my nerves a little by the time i got all the flowers, no shade tho it was catchy and cute, but also didn't personally think it fit the exploration and the vibe that the rest of the game gave me since it was so jaunty, that's just a taste thing tho i think

great job yall fr

aww thanks, that's sweet of you

/the music person

happy to hear you liked the music, i thought it ended up being really catchy and that it all came together very well with the rest of the game

neat! can't say i played many of these games as they were popular, but i do remember the vibes

really cool music too, did you make it?

peak vibes, visuals are great and the little touches of audiovisual feedback makes the game feel great to play

personally i think the music could use a bit more energy and the core gameplay ended up being a bit frustrating at times, although this arcade score-based style isn't something i would usually go for so maybe i missed stuff and didn't give it enough time to learn the mechanics right

would be interested in seeing how you expand on this

a critter who was assigned to do music

a weird little creature with a computer and a midi keyboard

heck yeah I'm so full of cheer after hearing that you don't even know

//the team's assigned music critter

damn cool to hear you liked the music, I'll pass along the praise to santa because he actually made that one himself if you can believe that

I'm still available for stuff, also started to release a few game music covers over at https://www.youtube.com/@splitprune just to update this page with more recent music

I just read that as you and a programmer and composer looking to make a game ngl

Hello! This seems like a neat little project, gotta say. I appreciate how clear and detailed the description of your project and what you're looking for is. In case you haven't found anything yet, I'm a composer with a lot of varied experience in different styles. My stuff is over at: https://soundcloud.com/homerrrr and you can reach me on discord at splitprune

Cheers and good luck!

I'm assuming that's meant to answer the budget question, is it unpaid then? But what kind of people are you looking for, what roles do you need?

I don't know if the title says it all. What kind of help are you looking for? Do you have any kind of budget?

Hi! I'm a musician with experience writing a bunch of different music, which I've done for 6 or so years. I have an education in game design, and have been involved with a variety of smaller projects over the years, meaning I can handle the development process and picking up new tools, on top of the ones I already understand.

I can do basic programming, I've worked with Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, Game Maker, and I can implement my own stuff if necessary.

I've done SFX and implemented both that and dynamic, interactive music through stuff like Fmod and Wwise.

My SFX work, and the projects I've been involved in can be found on my itch page, but I would mostly recommend checking out my music to see if there's anything you might like. Links below.

These three are a decent sample of the stuff I make:

https://soundcloud.com/homerrrr/salted-caramel-fudge?si=7f7099d1af8a45d0ab51ba39...

And then if you want to check out more you should listen to this slightly larger scale project I did a few years ago. It's aged but I feel like the stuff might be a bit more coherent and well-developed, if that makes any difference to you:

If any of this sounds interesting or if you need some unique atmosphere or character in your game that you just can't get from those royalty-free sources, don't hesitate to reach out! Or if you still aren't sure whether I could pull off whatever it is you're looking for in your game, just hit me up and we'll talk about it. Either way I would love to hear from anyone who's got a project or an idea going or anything, I haven't worked on any projects at all for a bit.

I'm on discord as splitprune

Take care y'all, cheers!

Hello! I'm a musician who's done work in a variety of different styles. I've also done some SFX work and I understand enough basic programming to implement my work in the engine and through some middleware.

I'm mainly a guitarist and I gravitate a lot towards jazzy stuff, which seems to be what you're after.

A collection of stuff I've made that you might want to check out is at my soundcloud. Putting some links.

A pretty groovy and chill track, not all that dark: https://soundcloud.com/homerrrr/salted-caramel-fudge?si=df08b9341bb247aababdb8fd...

This one is a bit Drum and bass, both dark and jazzy I guess: https://soundcloud.com/homerrrr/artificial-storm?si=85a9525cd14f42c4922eddef2bd6...

And these are from a school project from a few years ago, a bit on the darker side I'd say: https://soundcloud.com/homerrrr/sets/deathdealer-soundtrack?si=6edf306c18ce42f19...

If any of this sounds interesting my discord is splitprune

Cheers!

Holy moly this is all of our good ideas, except you actually implemented them too!

I feel like doing that was probably your best idea, we'll steal it for next time if you don't mind.

Hey! How are we supposed to compete with something like this, huh?

You take our idea and then you go and make a fantastic, flawless game, what the heck?

Yeah, very addictive game. Spawned a lot of rats, got 10 000 meat, not really sure what the other minions do.

Got some uh, balance issues, both with the gameplay and with how the music is only playing in my left ear.

But very good rats, and music and visuals are good too. Until the sound effects for the flesh piles and the ungodly amount of rats on screen start to take over everything else.

This game is really cool! It is very similar to a concept that our team was working on, we never got that far but I'm thrilled that you made it work this well.

The color idea, combining different actions and painting them onto the tiles, reads really well, allows for some interesting gameplay, and is a great foundation for adding more and more complex actions and interactions. It's interesting how the game is presented like a platformer but the gameplay consists of problem-solving, though I feel like the character resetting upon any interaction with the environment kind of disrupts the gameplay and adds very little in return. In my opinion, it would have been better to either have the player start the character movement with a button, or just let the player interact with the environment while the character is moving and design the challenges to require faster reactions and more creativity, depending on which type of challenge you want to create.

But this game is lovely, very polished, easy to understand, and the music is really cool too!

Why would anybody want to do it for free though? What do you have to offer instead that thousands of other projects don't already have? That is a genuine question I'm not trying to be rude. If you want any takers on this that is something you have to adress.
