Got jebaited into thinking this is also a PICO-8 entry, but in the end it was a pleasant surprise. Simple little fishing minigame, where my only complaint sis the lack of visual polish in terms of particles, animations and alike. But they are not needed at all for the game to work, so nice job!
Reminds me of a simplified version of ridiculous fishing, I always forget to cast my rod back out after catching a fish. I managed to catch all types except for the last two largest yellow fishes. The gameplay was simple but I wish there was more of a way to influence the catching of certain types and sizes of fish just for a bit more variety. Simple but a complete experience.
Hm, fish fishing fish... I got all but the second size of 7th color.
This is a lovely relaxing game, well done! :)
I got all the colours of fish, but not all the sizes of each. Nice simple chill game!
Simple but surprisingly fun! I tried filling the log but my browser crashed for some reason before I could finish. Good job!
Chill fishing game. Tried filling the entire log, but I could not find the third sizes of the last two fish. Nice game.
Thanks! Yeah the last two colours are 6 and 4 percent spawn rates, combined with the randomness of the size calculation it did take a while to catch them all during testing
What kind of cannibalism is this? Hahaha, good job, I didn't expect the pixel art blood effect.
I really like the palette and the sprites! What I missed a bit was a clear game goal. In my own game, for example, I added a codex where the unlocked fish are collected. If the goal is going for the highest score, it would help to have some kind of penalty for releasing a fish. The effects are great, and I really liked the title music too.
There is a fish log, it's mentioned when you start the game and also in the description! Thanks for the feedback :)
I love fishing games and I've been wanting to make one for a while. The atmosphere is very cute and the fishing game itself works well. On the other hand, it lacks diversity, there could be different fish rather than just colors and sizes, and also in the gameplay itself what happens when you miss or when you let a fish pass... could there be objectives, time?
Thanks for the feedback - I was considering adding a timed mode but didn't end up having time to implement it. I'll keep these points in mind for future improvements :)
This is a great twist on the formula that I've never seen before. I was very happy when the bigger fish became the new player, that was so funny. I wanted that to happen and then it happened, and to me that's the best type of thing that can happen in games. Great graphics and song choice, the music doesn't get repetitive. I got 1048 points and my fish was an 11 pixel tall gold fish, I wonder if it can get any bigger or if I reached the max pixel size fish.
Thanks so much for the comment! Glad you liked it :D
That is the max size of fish visually, although you can keep getting new size records beyond that - would be kinda cool to have them get huge though!
