Since there's no twitter hashtag or discord (if there are then let me know), let's share some of your work-in-progress screenshots or arts or music and stuff.

I'll start:

Tbh I don't know if I could even finish a game but let's see how it goes.

Nice design! Looking forward to your game

There... is actually a twitter hashtag #MagicalGirlGameJam; though I guess the hashtag is not viral :(

But good suggestion. I'm thinking of sharing some of my own progress there. Follow me at @d_reille if you're interested.

As for discord unfortunately I have not made it.

Thank you!

Oh... I totally missed that hashtag haha. Maybe better if you put it somewhere in the main text so people like me doesn't miss it.

It's gonna be a small game but a lot of passion went into our magical girl's sprite and official artwork! :)

current in-game sprite:

it's a compressed version, the raw is huge:

Nice design! Looking forward to seeing it in action.

Currently trying out the submitted games. Just wondering if you've finished your game yet, I'm really curious and wanna try it. XD

Unfortunately a big setback happened irl and it took much time away from it, I had to leave the jam since I would never make the date :(
I haven't abandoned the project, but I will have to release it separate from the game jam, it's called 'Sparking! Ezme'
I'll be sure to reply to you with a link to it (probably gonna put it on itch.io and/or Newgrounds when it is complete! :)

edit: on that note, since I no longer am limited by a date, I will probably take the extra time make things look prettier than they would have. I'm not gonna add any extra content though, I still plan on keeping the game short/simple like it would have been so it doesn't lose that 'small game' integrity.

Hey, no worries! Take your time! I really like the title, by the way. :D

Hi ! Late on this jam that'll try to do in one week i guess ^^.
I plan to do à print-yourself card game. The magical-girl theme gives me good idea for that.

I'm mostly an illustrator, and will stream some of my research / work here : https://www.twitch.tv/perceval_robin
You can drop by and chat about the jam if you wish.
Mainly, i'll have to do :
- some magical girls (duh)
- some companions
- quite a lot of villains
- some icons
- maybe a sprinkle of scenery

Continuing graphic research for my card game today : D.
Let's strike good sentaï poses, and put ribbons on everything.

Nice! That's looking good!

Thx ^^

Wow! You have to have an animation background. This is such a great pose and you can feel the weight of the character.

Thk you : ). Still no animation background at this point, but some comics, games & drawing.
I'll stream some work on the game this afternoon. https://www.twitch.tv/perceval_robin

Finished the background for cards & icons yesterday.
Will try to ink the caracter & monsters today : 3.
Don't hesitate to drop by and have a talk about the jam : ).

A Magical Girl Crashed Through My Roof So We Went On An Adventure (or something like that)

Got the finals of my intro cinematic done today, I think it's a smashing success. Working on a simple battle system now, nothing too special but enough to get the job done. The main thrust of the gameplay will be with its narrative, which I've been thinking a lot about. However, I'm also right in the middle of working on final year university coursework - including my dissertation. Hopefully something will be finished, even if it's not quite what I had planned. Also; need to find music! I'm planning to make some of it myself.

Either way, this'll be a game about two people going on an adventure. Discovering new things about themselves, and where they've ended up. Meanwhile, characters known as the 'Lost' are trying to prevent them from investigating the world further.

Nice intro! The premise seems like it could be pretty fun. Looking forward to what's next!

Submitted(+1)

Thanks! Hopefully it'll live up to expectations, I don't think it'll be a long game but hopefully it'll be something that leaves people thinking a little after finishing it.

Submitted(+1)

No worries, I hear you! Despite my game having 4 levels with 2 major bosses, and probably 100+ hours of work... it will likely be beatable in  minutes with a little practice. ;-;  So is the nature of a Game Jam Game, haha.

Submitted(+1)

I love the intro and the premise of this game. Pretty ambitious with that other stuff going on and less than a week left in the jam but I'm excited to see what you come up with.

Submitted

Yeah, just a little bit. Though that's what makes jam games so interesting, gotta find ways to get maximum value out of minimal systems. I wrote my own engine for a piece of coursework, and a server too. Using Unity is like a breath of fresh air compared to my own [buggy as heck] home-brew software. It's one of the reasons I chose to participate. Hopefully people will enjoy the finished game!

(+1)

I love the duo idea. Can't wait to play it.

Submitted

Sadly, it's not gonna be done in time. My coursework took priority over the game and it won't be finished by 12:00 tomorrow (my time). I'll continue working on it in my own time. Best of luck to everyone who submitted thus far, and those are just about to upload their own creations!

Submitted(+1)

Is there a partially complete version you could upload? Or is it more in a state where some things are finished but isn't really playable?

Submitted

At the time it was completely unplayable but I finished it this morning. It's still missing some sound effects but it's mostly complete.

Submitted(+1)

Maybe the Jam creator will allow a late entry? Unless that's explicitly against the rules. But you've posted progress during the Jam, so I feel like they might cut you a little slack.  I can't speak for them so maybe ask them on the rules sticky!

Submitted(+1)

Turns out that won't be needed. I got up early and finished it off, though I had to cut the battle system.

Submitted(+1)

Congrats on making it in time!

Seeing all the great art in here, I can't wait to try out your guys' games.

Here's a link to the soundtrack for A Change of Heart.

Thanks again for all your great work! It really lifted the quality of this project to another level! :)

Heck yeah! Thanks for reaching out to me!
