How does your game fit the theme?
The map is looped top to bottom, like a tube, and you're stuck in a short time loop.

It is a very very great concept and a solid base. Actually with some improvements and more feature this would be a game that I would play as a full realease. It felt really greate when I was almost out of time but I could still manage to get back to base, so I can by some upgrades. However I have some suggestions:

  • I think the movement speed should be increased becuase currently it feels really really slow. I know that would require to make the level larger as well, or the amount of time you get smaller. this is a balancing issue to be honest.
  • I would also add upgrades to not increase the time, but the movement speed in percentage. That is basicly almost the same thing but you can feel the benefit directly during the level.
  • I think I would rather add more gems to the level (or valuables) and not respawn them. I know the current theme was looping, but I think in a full release you don't need to stick to the theme anymore.
  • also the doors should remain open and make the keys much more expensive.

I really like this game loop (hehe), that you always need to go back to base, but you always need to go farther and farther and so you need to buy upgrades to get farther for more resource etc...

Good game, keep up the good work!

Nice game! I'm not sure about the player being so slow, i know it's by design to make it hard to return to base, but it doesn't feel very fun. I liked the overall cohesion of the entry though!

I liked how I have to risk getting a little greedy with the gems or getting back in time. I hadn't realized I played for almost an hour... It was really fun!

The setting and the core concept were well done.  I liked the balance of trying to decide whether you wanted to stay closer to the safe zone and collect the cheaper gems vs. taking the risk of not getting back in time but collecting higher gems.  I do wish the character moved a bit faster, or that the clock and the pill were less expensive, because trying to grind up to them did start to feel a little tiresome.

Lovely pixel art and a haunting soundtrack

Great game. I like the tension of not getting back to your base in time. but the movement is way too slow. I could see this getting expanded into a full game. Almost a metroidvania with a time loop twist!

The controls could use some work but the art is amazing! Can't believe this was a 4 day jam submission! Great work here!

Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!

Do you have some specific thoughts about the controls? Someone else suggested the arrow keys should also be movement.

Yeah. I'd agree

I like that you have to learn the layout after a while to optimise getting money quickly. Would be nice to move a bit faster, but overall felt pretty good! Nice work!

What does the book do? I bought it and have no clue what it did?

For keyboard, wasd and the arrow keys should do the same thing. I don't see why they can't both be menu select and movement. I think it's because the controller support, but I also don't see why it can't be both left stick and d pad.

I think maybe the first time power up needs to be cheaper. It's taking ages to upgrade it and I don't really want to explore if I don't have time, making the grinding less interesting.

Might need some progression tweaking, but it's a pretty good game and loop theme!

I like the balance of picking up certain kinds of gems over time. It gets a little repetitive (to be expected), as there aren't many things to do differently each time once you've found a good route.
