Thank you very much for making this game!  I can tell that a lot of thought was put into it and it's a very interesting fun idea. I like infinite climbing games, funnily enough I also made a climbing game this year as one of the game's alternative game modes.
My only criticism is that the jumping controls can be a bit awkward sometimes because the guide makes you think you can make certain high blocks.  It's not bad, but maybe it could be better with some tweaking. Or more likely, it's probably just a skill issue on my part  :)
I noticed there was a list of words in the games files, it would be cool if you could add your own custom language and words through these files. And also have more font options to support languages with other symbols that might not be supported by the current font. But I can understand that it might be too complicated of a suggestion.
Another suggestion would be an option to disable or skip the intro, so the next time I open up the game I don't have to wait to get right in.

Once again, thank you so much for making this game. I hope you had fun making it and coming up with ideas. I really appreciate the amount of effort and little details.

Great work!

My current High Score

Current High Score

Not sure if that's the best solution to the strengthening mechanic, but I can't think of anything either.
Having the option to auto move is definitude a good quality of life update. I just tested it and feels pretty good. I think it would be cool if you could speed up slightly by fast tapping, like hypertapping in Tetris (big Tetris fan, so I can't help using it as an analogy).
Keep up the good work!

Congrats on ranking in the top 20! It's the only one I played from the top 20 😅
It's one of my favourite games from the jam, well deserved!

Amazing! You managed to do so much! The art, story and sound were all really good.
It felt really creative and a very complete experience. It's crazy how many different unique characters and enemies there were. I kept on dying in the spider part, but it wasn't too difficult.

I'm sad I only managed to play it after ratings ended, but I'm glad to see it got a really high rating.

Great job!

Yes, your assumptions are correct that I made it a lot easier with considerations for the jam. The controls were meant to feel a bit awkward in revenge mode, which ended up making it a bit too difficult. I did some subtle trickery to make it easier by increasing the hitboxes and adding a little aim assist as well, without compromising the weird, jet-pack-like controls. The difficulty does slowly scale as you play, but it's very gradual that it would be hard to realise. So I think entering revenge mode becomes a riskier strategy as you advance. But because of the lack of enemy types and maybe special boss-like phases, it lacks any feeling of progression which would help players realise the game is getting harder.

I really wanted to add a story that plays once at the start of the game about why the character is cursed. The death curse mechanic is a really good base for a little story that could work across different settings. The issue was I didn't want it to be just a paragraph of text, I would want to show image or animate it a bit, which is not something I can currently do very easily or quickly.

I agree about needing some more little indicators. I kept it in the back of my mind during the entire development, but never came up with a solution that I could implement quickly. I think the best method for this problem would be to just try different solutions, like the one you suggested, and just tweak and iterate until finding something that works. Which wasn't going to be feasible within the time constraints.

I really appreciate people like you who show genuine interest in other people's projects and give good suggestions. Thank you so much for your detailed feedback!

I do remember, around 10 billion

Cool game, felt very visually polished.
I kept getting frustrated because I kept dying from silly deaths, then running out of lives and having to do everything again from the start. I think the hitbox of the corpse on the spike should be more forgiving to avoid dying from  grazing a spike. The final jump  at the end of some of the levels was really annoying, very easy to mess up.

I liked how there was the aspect of having to actually kill yourself instead of just having a kill yourself button like some other games I played during this jam.

Really well done, good job!

Cool vibe and game!

I did find the spot where enemies stop following you early on, it was really hard not to want to hide there and snipe the enemies.

I didn't like how I was forced to only pick one upgrade even though I had plenty of soul coins left, it was if it was forcing me to sacrifice as early as possible. I think it would be better to be able to upgrade multiple things if you have the coin for it.

Really well done, with lots of fun ideas. Good job!

I saw it was mobile compatible, so I tried it on my phone. Performance was good, but was struggling by the end as my phone is old and not very powerful.

The gameplay was fun. At the start I was running around, but then I realised it made more sense just to stay put and just focus on deciding the upgrades every loop.

The scaling was very broken, but that made it more fun.

The amount of enemies and effects was super impressive. I made a arena style game and was only able to make one enemy with two attacks 😭

Amazing job, I had a lot of fun!

The audio and visuals look really nice.
Although, I can't read the small text. I know I can tap the card to zoom in, but it feels unnecessary when it should be readable with a better font, thickness, and contrast.
I tried to make the game bigger by zooming in but it just ends up breaking the game UI, which is unfortunate.

Really great job, I love card games like this. The first game I uploaded on itchio was a recreation of a dungeon crawling card game, so it makes me appreciate this game even more.

Well done!

More of an experience than a game, but it's really well done.

The art is really nice. How was the art made and added to the scene?

I noticed that some elements seemed to be layered on top, very interesting.

Well done completing your first game!

Saw your video, I think it looks really good!

Like everyone else, I can't run it because it's missing key files. There should be 'circle of life and death_Data' folder and UnityPlayer.dll.
Definitely upload the fixed files as soon as you can so we try it out

Good luck on your next project!

I think it made the experience even more memorable! Of course, it's probably something you would want to fix just to help with the player's immersion and make it feel more polished. Don't want you to think it ruined  the game for me :)

Once again, great job!

I think I hid the tutorial a bit too well on the bottom left, but honestly, I don't think it helps that much. It's a lot better to just figure it out by trying, since the controls are relatively simple. The revenge / blood jet mode is supposed to be a bit harder to control, although there is a trick to it, so you can get pretty good at it.

Of course the original plan was to add more enemy types and hopefully a boss. I left it for last just in case I ran out of time, which I did, so I'm glad I planned it that way. But it's a real shame it didn't reach it's full potential.

Thank you so much, that's a pretty good High Score as well!

I agree with the map no really needing it, could be just a fun thing to try out. That's why I mentioned just making it minor and exaggerating it a bit with FOV.  Just an idea I got because of the minor diagonal speed bug, since it was fun speeding around a bit.

It's great to hear that you have ideas already for the other things I mentioned, I hope you end up implementing them. Either way, it's good to think about these kind of things since it's good experience for future games, which I hope you keep making :)

Good game and art design. Monica was very unhelpful.
Normal mode feels almost impossible, it requires good button mashing and keyboard skills which most people don't have. And having a nice keyboard probably helps.

Felt like you managed to do a lot in such a short period of time, very impressive.

Excellent work, well done!

Did you try windows version? The web version runs poorly on old laptops.
If you did try the windows version and the performance is still bad, I think I might have to try an optimise a bit more.
I tested it on my 10 year old laptop (intel i7-5500U dual core 2.4GHz) and I was getting over 120fps on windows. But maybe that wasn't too bad for the time.

Amazing! I can't believe how much  you did in such a small amount of time.
The art style was really cool and the sound was well done. I thought the mechanic felt very creative and fit the theme well, as well as the additional theme call out right at the end.

The area opening mechanic was a bit confusing at the start, since you can't see it opening.
In the torch hunt section it would be nice to know how many torches are left.
I'm not sure if you were aware, but the speed is a lot faster when moving diagonally. I think it would be nice to have a way to sprint, even if just a little with the FOV increase trick to make it feel faster than it is. But I get that walking probably fit the spooky game better.

Really good vibe and story, felt like a complete experience.

Excellent job, well done!

Weird experience, felt like I had infinite money glitch.
I was confused most of the time while playing.
But I had fun, and I liked the drawings, and the septic eye reference.

I think you were very ambitious given the time frame, they really didn't give us a lot of time 😭

Well done, great job!

Does this mean I beat the game?

Looks pretty cool, shame there is no game yet. Here is some feedback: The mouse sensitivity felt really slow, even after I set it to the max value. I think you could increase the fov slightly when sprinting just make it feel a bit nicer, you can play around with and see what works. Even if it's just a tiny bit, it should help with the movement feel a little bit. Performance was good, was getting close to 1700fps.

Really cool vibe, well done!

The art looks really cool. I was a bit disappointed there wasn't much to do, but it's clearly a project that needs a lot more time.

The only feedback I have is that the text/font is really hard to read when it's just a single letter or a word I don't recognise. For example, when it said press e it didn't really look like an e. Or your username, I couldn't really tell if it was an I or a 1, and h or n.

Good luck with your development, it's looking pretty cool!

Very fun, runs a lot better on windows! I was playing for about half an hour, it was very chill.

The driving felt really good, although at lvl 12 speed it became a bit unstable when turning, had the car barrel rolling.

I think there was a bug with the levelling up system as the money text wouldn't update when purchasing upgrades, I think the engine and fuel were swapped, every round it would reset to for example 0/10  even though my level wasn't 0 (maybe that's on purpose, idk) but this meant that each initial upgrade was always the same amount each round, which probably made the game easier.

The sound design was really good, really enjoyed all the little sounds.

Amazing work!

Good game, the dash mechanic and orbs were very fun!
I felt like the death mechanic wasn't needed and added nothing to the game, I didn't even use it in level 5.  Felt more like a last minute add on than a core part of the game. And the few times I did use, it felt very forced and obvious rather than a puzzle that needed to be solved.

It's unbelievable how much you got done in such a short period of time.
Really well done!

Btw, I think you accidentally mixed the Spanish and English spelling of the word.

Really good game, the puzzles were very creative and fun! The art was pretty cute, a good stylistic compromise given the time limit.

Great job!

Really well done, the drawings and vibe are excellent!

I found myself going around in circles, but I never felt stuck since I kept on finding notes.
It's pretty funny how chill she was about everything, but makes sense given the mythological context.

Can't have been easy coming up with everything in such a short period of time.

Great Job!

Cute game, the simplistic art style and animations with the particles work really well given the time constraints.

I think the spikes hitbox needs to shrink a little so you can get closer to the spikes without dying. There  were a lot of moments where I felt like I didn't touch the spike (obviously did), making the hitbox a little smaller will help a lot with game feel.

I didn't like how as soon as you let go of a directional key in the air the character just stops. It feels really rigid, and forces you to hold the directional key and have to try and let go in the last seconds so that you don't move while on the ground.

Maybe you could show the entire level at the start, or have a button to toggle full map view. Because some of the levels are almost impossible to beat first try because you kind of need to explore first.

Well done, you did a really good job!

Web version stutters a lot, I had the same issue with my game not running as well on the browser. But windows version was smooth.

It was a fun game but I feel like the death mechanic doesn't quite work. Felt like you might as well just keep dying and upgrading everything instead of powering through it.

The art was good, some of the enemies were pretty funny looking.

Well done, it was fun!

 I win

ez :)

Fun but short little game. It's a good starting point, shame you ran out of time to expand the concept and come up with more intricate levels.

I found the sound effects pretty funny, especially the dying one.

Will be cool to see your progress in the future. For a first game jam, it's pretty good!

Well done!

Where is the windows download link? Seems like a fun game but it's struggling to run on the browser, I'll like to give it a try on windows!

The dirt look like the monster's waste, a number 2 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The vibe is excellent! Really fun idea

Well done!

I was a bit confused how suddenly it ended. I played again but chose a different path after the police and it still ended pretty abruptly. I guess you ran out of time, the time limit was a little short.

Really good effort for your first game! I think the ideas were there, just not enough time.

Well done!

Good game :)

The art is great and the controls were good. Although, it would be nice to be able to mutate without using the mouse (not sure how, but it seems possible).

Excellent  work, well done!

Really nice drawing and animation, shame you didn't have time to finish. I can see it being a beautiful experience once completed. I imagine the ending would be bittersweet.

easy climb, not sure what people are complaining about 😎

Same 😭

Wish I had extra time to implement all my enemy ideas. I purposefully left them last so that I would have a complete game first.

The game jam theme is tricky with a lot of interpretations. I'm happy I figured out an interpretation which fits with my original understanding of the theme.

I've played a lot of games which are wildly different to how I first interpreted the theme (this includes your game).  It's really cool, I'm glad people are so different and creative!

It's a very fun and creative idea!

I think you did an amazing job given the short time limit. I had the exact same issue of having to limit the scope even though I had more ideas.

The game has a lot of potential. I think it would be fun if everything had a proper interaction. I'm sure if you had 10 people play the game, all of them would come up with different creative ideas you hadn't thought of yet. Implementing all the ideas is another story. I'm sure the current game was already very challenging to implement.

Once again, great job!

Found your game through a youtube short, the graphical upgrade is really good compared to the prototype! I can tell you put a lot of effort in improving the graphics.  The game was fun, but very easy. Probably a good thing for a game jam, too easy is better than too hard.

Amazing work!

It's hard and frustrating , congratulations 😭

The art style is really cool. Shame I'm not really good at the game. Takes me almost 30s to get to this point in the screenshot and it's so easy to make a mistake. I wonder how many people will end up beating the game in the next 3 days.
Well done!

I reached the 5th floor. Not sure I understood how the death mechanic works completely, kind of felt like my choices didn't really matter since I wouldn't lose any progress and became stronger each time.
I think the solution to the movement complaints would be to add something like DAS in tetris, where if you hold a key for longer than a set threshold it automatically starts pressing that key, but still gives you that precise control.

I had fun playing it and the minimalist graphics worked quite well.

Well done!

More like art than a game. Very unique experience.

Well done!
