A very interesting take on the theme, I found the game very good overall, I had a good time :)

P.S.: If you would like to check out the game I worked on, I would be grateful 🙏 (In your free time of course)🙏

Hi! Saw on the GMTK server that you're looking for some genuine feedback. So here I go!

First of all, this is a really smart interpretation of the theme. So kudos to you! The cup mechanic is something I don;'t think I've ever seen before. Really cool!

Now some feedback:

- I understand why you made C the button for Cup, but I found having E and C be the keys kinda unintuitive. I suggest picking keys that are closer together. Z and X for example.

- I like that I can use WASD or Arrow Keys to move, but you should let players know this. Also, if I can use WASD to move, I should be able to use keys on the right side of the keyboard to interact and use the cup. When it comes to controls, giving players options is always a win.

- I wasn't able to tell if I HAD to wait for the "searching..." animation to finish before moving on, or if I could click it and continue. Maybe some UI to show the searching progress could be helpful (similar to the UI used above guards to show how close they are to spotting you)

- Some fanfare when you find a page would be a nice touch. Just something that lets me know that I've actually found something. I didn't realize I found anything until I looked at the UI in the bottom right corner.

But honestly, most of these are nitpicks. You did an excellent job with this! You should feel very proud :)

Cool take on the theme!

I really loved the little dialogue that you could listen to through the walls!

Well done!! :D

This is absolutely the most interesting take on the theme that I've seen so far! And I've played 130 of the games so far. Truly this is awesome! I had so much fun running around like a little gossip! Great fun!

Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!

The only stealth game I have found in the jam so far and it was a really good take. I would have loved for the guards to put up a bit of a chase but who has time for pathfinding when you only have 96 hours to make a game! Great stuff though, I enjoyed this one... I guess you can be the true In the Loop 😉

Developer

You've hit the nail on the head there for why there's no chasing! I would love to add something like chasing, or even searching for sounds etc if we work on this further...

Super cool take on the theme! I love the music, the art, the way sneaking around was stressfull but still forgiving. My favorite part was the eavesdrop mechanic, I haven't really seen that. In my opinion, that would have been an even better focus for your game!

Fun game my only small gripe is that the cup mechanic didn't really help me along the way and I just sort of stumbled upon the puzzle solution

clever use of the theme and super fun to play!

If you don't mind, please consider rating my game as well :)

Only got the theme after reading the jam comments haha it's a very fun spin on the theme. I think the listening in mechanic was very creative!! Nice work!

Okay so at first, I really didn't understand the theme. Then I saw the title again and I got it. A creative interpretation for sure! I also liked the song, it really fit the atmosphere. I also liked the cheesy "The conspiracy goes deeper than we thought" line. It made me feel like I'm in a cheesey noir movie or something hahaha. So great job on the narrative and the concept and the atmosphere!

A few pieces of feedback though: for a game where you listen to guards, some of their dialog is quite "throw away". For example: the first guard says he will leave his shift soon. I thought this meant I have to wait a bit for him to go away so I can proceed, but instead he just keeps walking around, so the first piece of information is not actually meant as a hint, which was confusing. Secondly, I got pretty close to guards but they didn't catch me, so that could be improved a bit. So the first piece of info made me think I really cannot get close and I have to find ways to get rid of them,, like waiting for them to leave the shift, but in actuality, i can just walk past them pretty generously. I would definitely make the guards see more, and you really have to stay on the other side of the wall in order to find ways past them.

But yeah other than that great job!

Thank you so much for such detailed feedback!

These are all valid points that we hadn't considered, I can see how you would think the guards would go away... We'll address all this if we make an update post jam.

I hope it will help devlop the game further in the future!

By the way, it would be great if you can also rate out game! :)

I loved the use of the theme to create this game and all the funny commentary from the guards and ended up playing to the end.  Also, Thanks for the feedback on my game!
