Hard, but fun!

A very cool twist on the genre, the enemies losing sides and becoming easier as they get damaged is an extremely nice touch

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you appreciated the difficulty scaling!

Usually I just stick to the same spot in a bullet hell game, but your take on it forces me to travel across the screen as if I'm doing objectives while dodging bullets. I love how the theme enabled you to come up with an elegant solution for a problem I had with this genre :)

Developer

I'm glad you liked my take on bullet hells, thanks for playing!

I had so much fun with this one! I really enjoyed the gameplay and the music. Not sure if I’m just bad at it but it felt really hard for me. I lost so many times but I still had a great time playing.
If you have time, can you check out our game as well?

Developer

I'm glad you had fun! Yeah the difficulty was something I didn't have a ton of time to perfect. Seems like people are split between thinking it's too hard vs too easy- the difficulty modes are kind of a bandaid for that

Submitted

Got scared for a moment, I thought there were only two levels but didn't read the text :))))
Love this concept! Will you continue it in the future?

Developer

Thanks for playing! I think so, feedback has been quite positive. We'll see how motivated I am (:

Really neat idea with circling the enemies to destroy them. It's really not the kind of game I play normally, so I was really impressed with how you introduced the controls and GUI during the play. It was too hectic for me to read the text, but I grasped the shield stuff immediately, very impressive.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for noticing the tutorial! It's something I learned to include after a few jams, always bugs me when I have to read walls of text to get a game haha

Really nice little game! I love that you sticked to super simple graphics, it works really well and reminds old arcade games. The gameplay is fun, the sound design is perfect for the style. I missed a bit of 8bit music! Also, maybe the default difficulty is too easy? The first run wasn't really challenging. Well done overall!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed! You must be cracked at bullet hells, haha I actually thought the normal difficulty would be too hard for most people so I made it easier right before release. If you play hard that's the one I was developing with

Out of the many "draw a loop" games I saw, this one is the most unique I'd say. Everything is cool here, the effects of the enemies, the music and the sudden pitch shift (did you record the boss laugh at the end yourself?). Also mad respect for taking effort into making the tutorial, and not just writing controls in the game desc!!!

edit: nevermind I read where the boss voice is from

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah the boss sounds were my friend recording then messing with the audio. I think he nailed my request lol. My other friend made the music, pitch shift was my way of making the one track go further

This was delightful. The bullet hell mechanics weren't too punishing and I loved the inclusion of the shield. I kinda gave up on the boss, I didn't feel like I was making progress after killing the enemies twice. So I circled him and then died (which was great)

Developer

Yeah I forgot to include the boss mechanic in the tutorial; you're supposed to just keep killing the waves and eventually it dies. Thanks for playing!

Oh, that's fun. Only thing I'd say is please make it so I can't get lost off the bottom of the screen.

Developer(+1)

Yeaaah I forgot to make a limit on the screen edges! Thanks for playing

Love the aesthetic and the gyrating vertices - it looks really unique and suits the music well. The multi-stage enemies are a great idea and I also really like the boss and shield/draw mechanics. This is remarkable for such a short jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I landed on the vertex graphics early on and just ran with the style, I'm glad you enjoyed it

That was super fun! I played the game on the hardest difficulty and couldnt put it down!

great game concept to fit the theme also!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed it and were able to beat the hard difficulty! Fun fact, that used to be the "normal" difficulty during development but I realized it would be way too hard. I also wanted to add some fun achievements or a sudden death mode to reward a zero hit run but, alas, that would have been too much scope.

Submitted(+2)

Damn that's like black powder from TBOI but made into entire game... and actually pretty fun

Developer(+2)

Oh wow I played so much of the Binding of Issac but never encountered that item, I'll have to pick that game up again. Thanks for playing!

hmmm.... Ball

great job! It was nice to play a little more chill of a bullet hell game, being able to take brakes by just not looping was very nice.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah I was hoping the ability to pause and "read" the bullet patterns would make up for the difficulty, so glad you picked up on that :)

Submitted(+1)

Good game, especially for being done in just 48 hours. I also made a bullet-hell like game, so it was fun seeing another entry and how someone else made it.  Solid visuals i think too.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The visual style was something I came up with in like an hour and just ran with it, and it kinda became my favorite part of designing the game so I'm glad you liked it
