Why is this so creepyyyy, I love the art style and the sounds, very handmade in the best way possible. Also very creative and well made game. Pretty cool overall

Very unique story, I loved the premise, very creative! There were also many different enemies and their artistic depiction was phenomenal, quite abstract, loved it!

this is the abstract n weird atmosphere that I live for...  the visuals and audio are awesome! I really love everything the game does here.
thank you for your service IMMORTAL JELLYFISH WITH GUNS

Great game, love the attention to detail on the controls. Big fan of seeing whatever new gun the next cycle is going to bring. Kept surprising me with funnier things for the jellyfish to hold. Where did he get that arsenal I wonder

Hella underrated game! The art is super unique and the gameplay is really fun!

Very unique theme and story I must say. Nice game.

That was a really good game !
The art and the ambiance are just: beautiful, love that !

I really liked the cycle mechanic, it really forced me to change my playstyle to make the most out of each phase.
And I really enjoyed the more calm, methodical approach of the combat system. Its not slow by any means, but you don't feel like you're in a rush.

I really liked how the UI was integrated into the game ! Really inspiring stuff.

If I had critiques, I would say that to me the game feels a bit dull, and would probably use some more player feedback or some juice, even though the austerity that comes out of not having too much player feedback serves the atmosphere, I think a middle ground could be found.

And also, I often felt like the game was too punishing. The hitboxes felt like they were a tiny bit too big, like I kept getting damaged for scraping by enemies.

But that's just me nitpicking !
I really enjoyed playing through all of the game !

I liked the cycle mechanic.

It is really good idea to put all the UI near the character.

Art and music create so great atmospere!

Overall: ★★★★☆

Creativity ★★★★☆

This game is beyond creative (or proll better say "Artistic")  but taking down a star as I believe the Loop theme isn't that strong here. As for the atmosphere, !wow! disturbing as hell

Enjoyment ★★★☆☆

Here I will focus on mechanical part as overall I really enjoyed the game, it was despite mechanics most of the time:D

- Battle system felt reeeaally slow and not require concentration nor strategy. Would prefer it go deeper into direction of fast paced bullet hell, where you endlessly adapt to changing jellyfish arsenal you have at the current moment

- Starting again and again from the base form each battle felt boring for me

- Boss design is quite basic. Loved in later level that there started to appear bullet patterns that were quite hard to dodge, but probably expected something like this from the start

- Would love to see multi enemy battles as I think the game would benefit from multiple points of danger on the screen

Narrative ★★★★☆

It exists in this game and grotesque is the least I could say. The whole atmosphere works well for this game and makes emerged into this wacky world. I think with more time put into polish and enemy design this could be a game that talks with player only through boss mechanics and would do it really well.

Artwork ★★★★☆

Art is probably one of things that makes this game standout. Art itself is gorgeous, but there are some points that I think could be improved:

- Attacks are readable, but colliders used for OnHit sometimes feel off

- I think for this style of a game UI indication of hp/energy should be incorporated into sprites themselves as abstract indication breaks the immersion a bit (though I think in game indication was done beautifully)

Audio ★★★★★

I don't know how, but it just works, I think sound is probably the one thing giving that Atmosphere I cannot stop writing of to this game

Wow!! I love wacky stuff like this. Your art was incredible, I really can't drill home enough that this game is like an art gallery.

I have never thought as a whole of "this" as a whole, and now I will 👍thanks for telling me

I liked this interpretation of loop

Really enjoyed the psychedelic artwork! I found the slowing down to be a bit jank, but I definitely get why it's there.

Absolutely love the aesthetic and art direction?!?! Would love to learn to do stuff like this in godot!

Developer(+1)

The graphics are just free stock images of sea life mashed together with GIMP, any game engine can use them. The only graphical thing done in Godot is a shader for the dithering effect.

Submitted

Yeah the dithering is what im talking about, looks very cool!

Developer

That shader is actually fairly simple, it takes a "number of colors" parameter, then multiplies the color on screen  by that number, rounds the result (removes decimals), and then divides the result by the number of colors.

Since in Godot shaders each color (red, green, blue) is represented as a value from 0 to 1, the shader sort of "flattens" the colors in similar range.

The weird "moving/pulsating dither" effect is done by messing with the number of colors in-game.
