How does your game fit the theme?
The main character is a bopping edgy orange cat that can stretch and jump into loops, both horizontally and vertically. Players can also control the platforms that are actually an audio loop to help our main character run through the entire song track and if they fall, they will be looped back to the beginning of the song!

🎶 Meowsic – Patch Update V1.2 🎶
Hi everyone!
We’re back with the final patch update for Meowsic, and it’s a big one. After listening closely to your feedback (thank you again to everyone who played, shared thoughts, and reported bugs!), we’ve worked hard to address the rough edges and add some highly–requested features.
This will be the last update for Meowsic as we shift our focus to our main IP, Drone Defiance, but we wanted to make sure the game felt stable, polished, and fun before we wrapped it up.
✨ What’s New in V1.2
🐾 Gameplay Improvements & Fixes
Cat movement & jump bugs fixed → controls now feel smoother and more reliable.
Platform movement clamped → no more dragging platforms all the way out of bounds.
Platform overlap issue resolved → platforms can no longer clip into each other.
Platform reset on fall → if the cat falls off, the moved platforms reset to their original positions.
Celebration on track completion → when you reach the end, cat movement locks and a victory message awaits!
🎵 Player Experience
Added checkpoints → no more spirit–crushing full restarts; you’ll respawn further along the track.
Music looping fixed → the base track now loops continuously instead of stopping.
⚙️ Optimization & Tech
Platform logic moved to C++ → smoother, more optimized performance.
Keyboard reworked in C++ with Animation Blueprints + states for petting, playing, and idle hand animations.
Unnecessary files cleaned → build size reduced from 398 MB → 273 MB!
🎨 Visual & Polish
Original platform materials restored (missed in the jam build due to time limits).
New icons, splash screen, and loading screen added for a more complete experience.
❤️ Thank You!
This patch is our way of saying thank you to everyone who played Meowsic v1.1 and shared feedback. Your support helped us smooth out the bumps and bring the game closer to what we originally envisioned.
We won’t be updating Meowsic further, but we hope this final patch gives you a much more polished and enjoyable experience. From here, the team is turning our attention to Drone Defiance, our main IP – and we can’t wait to share more about it soon.
Thanks again for playing, and we hope you’ll give Meowsic V1.2 a spin! 🎶🐾

---+++++++++++-++
Hi everyone!
First off, thank you all so much for taking the time to play Meowsic and leave such detailed and constructive feedback, it means a lot to us!
We’ve noticed that many of you encountered similar issues, and we wanted to be fully transparent: due to a last-minute merge right before the deadline, some core gameplay values were unintentionally reset. This unfortunately slipped through our final checks and resulted in the bugs and rough edges you all picked up on.
The good news? We've already addressed these issues in our internal build, and everything is now working as originally intended! That version brings the pacing, controls, and rhythm-based mechanics much closer to our actual vision for the game.
Unfortunately, per jam rules, we can't upload the fixed version until the voting period ends. but we’d love for you to check it out once it’s live. We’re confident it’ll feel like a much more polished and fun experience!
Thanks again for all your support, and we hope you’ll give Meowsic another spin after the update drops! 🎶🐾

I love the aesthetic of this game! The cats are adorable, the music theming is well done, the colours pop, and the computer/room environment are detailed and lively. The cat is so full of personality too!
Unfortunately, I didn’t end up getting too far - I found the gameplay really confusing. The controls page lists over a dozen buttons and button combinations, so I was already overwhelmed going in. The cat has two separate movement schemes, both of which are pretty slippery and frustrating. At the same time, I had to remember the key shortcuts to select and move platforms, which I had to stop playing and remember to do (I couldn’t seem to get that working for me fsr). Then I had to pet the cat sometimes, which required two entirely separate key combinations.
I was constantly trying to remember which CTRL key did what, whether shift or CTRL launched me forward, how the selecting system worked, etc., to the point where I wasn’t really focusing on the actual gameplay and theming. And during all this, if you fall once, you have to do the whole thing over - which is easy to do because of how slippy the player is.
There’s a cool idea in here about platforming on the MIDI blocks (I think they were making music when I stood on them, but I couldn’t pay much attention), but to make that shine, I think you have to pare down a large chunk of the mechanics. Give the cat simpler movement, make it more intuitive to move platforms, and maybe just nix the petting mechanic. Simpler is often better. (I also suggest limiting key combinations. Having to press two or three keys for every move is really confusing for the player.)
Overall, a really cute and stylish platformer! I think with some pruning, it could be a fun take on the genre.
The art style is amazing, especially whoever did the background desk art! I think the main problem is the gameplay itself. The cat was way too floaty and hard to control as a platformer. It appears that the left "ctrl" button doesn't work, but only the right. It was hard to figure out how to move the platforms, and it looks like you can just select one and then take yourself to the end of the game. Perhaps limiting the direction that these blocks can go will make it more challenging.
Nice!
This game definitely scores points on aesthetics and creativitiy. Would have appreciated checkpoints, because it takes a long time to get through the level each time. Good job on the jam!
My biggest piece of advice would be to playtest fast and early with people who aren't working on the game! I agree with a lot of the other concerns here in the comments... it's not obvious that only Right Control works, and selecting the blocks can be pretty confusing. I think the core mechanic of being able to move the notes is super cool and it's audibly very satisfying, but from what I played it seemed like the best strategy was to just find a small block and... take that all the way to the end. Cute game though! +2 for petting the cat.
Massive credit on your art! Thanks to Nebster's comment I got clear on the movement, but I would suggest adding more to your info about that.
This game is BEAUTIFUL are you kidding me???? Doing the super jump combo is really fun! Great job!
A catchy aesthetic and fun concept but it does have a few areas to improve. It should be made clear in the controls that you use right CTRL + Arrows as I have seen some others claim it didn't work. Secondly, I found it a bit hard to know when I was moving or selecting the blocks - perhaps just make the lines a bit thicker or had some shadow to elevate the blocks away from the track. Finally, I managed to make the cat ride one block a good distance before having to move to a different block, maybe make it disable moving blocks you're standing on. With some more work this could have some real potential!
Loved the art style and music (until it cut out), but the character was way too floaty and would frequently catapult themselves way farther than what I think was intended. I also couldn't really figure out what was going on with the moveable platforms. I understood that you could move platforms that don't have a blue border, but the playable space of the screen was so small that I wasn't ever to sure what I was supposed to be building towards. While the art was good, all that space would have been better used for the actual playable game itself.
Based art, ggwp!
first of all, the art is amazing. I liked the different expressions of the cat and how we are "building" the song track. The cat was a bit difficult to control, I ended up relying on standing on one of the controllable platforms to bring myself across the level. I think I had trouble estimating where the cat would end up when I would jump/loop. However, the concept is interesting and I liked the idea of creating your own level/solution in a way.
The art: incredible. The vibes: immaculate. The platforming, is not there. The CTRL+ArrowKeys movement didn’t work when I played it. HOWEVER- You can pet the cat.
The art is so COOL! Really love the artwork and the idea.
I found the cat really difficult to control though so couldnt really play the way I wanted to. Felt like it wasn't consistent when jumping so was hard to control. Maybe I was doing something wrong?
