I like the twist on Balatro, and the balance seems pretty fair! But for a drum sequencer game there really should be more emphasis on the audio sync, for example, the scoring really needs to be on beat, the sfx was distractingly off-beat!  A bit of bass and chords in the background as well would really sell it, as well as better samples. And if the patterns made some interesting sounds by design for example.  Nice game!

Really cool idea, it felt quite satisfying creating your drum pattern!! And of course big numbers make brain go brrr

I couldn’t quite figure out what the patterns did, but it’s a pretty solid base for a balatro-style roguelike!

Good idea with good music, I very liked it

Can you try my game too? :)

Cool idea - I think there's a lot to be done around sound choice and it would be nice to have some melodic or harmonic elements underpinning it. I didn't quite understand the modifiers etc, but there's loads of scope here to expand this into something really great.

Very interesting idea of a Drum Sequencer game that could be developped into something more. Nice

Nice idea, feels a bit lifeless without a score behind it, and some of the percussion sounds made no sense

This is really cool! Love drum machine aesthetic for it! And really like the Balatro style score chaser mechanics for it. The music-based games for this theme have been my favourite.

If you want more of that score chasing mechanic fun we built a deck-builder for our jam game, and would love your feedback if you wanted to try it too!

I don't know anything about music theory but this could be a great way to learn about it!

I have to say that the gameplay is kinda addictive, big numbers make me happy.

Good job, great game feel and its also satisfying when you hear a good beat!

This is an incredible piece of art. I really enjoyed my time with this game

Really nice little drum machine :D

Really fun take on the balatro-type of games, I enjoyed it!

Also a really nice introduction to drum programming for someone who hasn't done it before :D

Good submission!

Wow, really interesting and unique idea.

Wow loved your game - for now its the best I played this jam. I built my strategy completely arround "Sound of silence" - with that I reached round 12 and a score of 893. ^^

Maybe one constructive feedback - the score is summed up immediately, so its hard to see what one individual loop scored.

"Highscore Roguelikes with 3 choices" gotta be one of my favourite genres. Great idea and implementation!

Nice!! You should really keep playing with this concept because it's really cool that the loop is always playing. I think some other comments have already mentioned the separation between trying to make cool sounds and the incentive to just put the best blocks up there. But if you gave me just four days to try to solve that dilemma I couldn't do it lol. This is really great and I hope it can expand to include combos like "make a backbeat" or "four on the floor bonus"!

Great game overall, the sound and graphics are awesome and the build up in each round just feels nice!

I think some patterns with variable beats could be an interesting addition, like Kick->Anything->Snare, so you can combine your patterns in more interesting ways. Or maybe patterns like "Have a Snare at the same time as a Kick" to make a connection between the layers. But it's already great the way it is!

Thanks! Yes there is definetly a huge universe of possibilities on modifiers and patterns to make it more interesting or sound better, I definitely considered making modifiers for between-layers interactions!

really creative

no you 😏

Interesting idea! I like that you can hear all the loops as they stack up. I tended to repeat the same sequences rather than make up different ones. For some reason I focused on the sound of silence modifier in my run and passed 12 rounds with a highest score of 936. The visuals are simple but clean, and the scoring animations are fun. Great work!

Thanks! 💖
