Really a good idea to cover the theme this way, and also to litereally put the entire track into the inside of a looping shape, rather than do some 4D math to simulate the looping.
Thanks for your comment about this project ! Why make it hard when we could do easier ahah Glad to see you’ve appreciated our method !
I don't really get how this fits in the theme of loop, but nonetheless congratulations on your first entry. The game is pretty fun at first, but it gets boring quickly. If you do decide to expand it into a full release I'd suggest adding more mechanics to spice up the gameplay. Perhaps you could buy new upgrades something like in subway surfers/temple run.
Thanks for your comment about this project ! You’re running in a wheel that is spinning in a loop, or rather, you are spinning this wheel in a loop so as to move the boat and its crew forward. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to refine the boat management during this Jam, and we do hope to add improvement management or other things for the future.
I think the web version in cursed. I've tried trice to reload and all the time the game didn't work properly.
Thanks for your comment about this project ! Yes, we noticed the same thing, the web version seems to need a browser cache refresh to work as needed on some things, at least the client works perfectly.
Congrats on your first jam! I like the style you went for and running around the inside of a ring is something I haven't seen done before. Like a few others said, some of the obstacles felt a little unfair. For me, it was mostly the pair of bridges since I often needed to make a left/right decision early because of the previous obstacle before I could see which bridge was blocked. I think making it clear which side is blocked at the start of the bridge instead of the middle would help since it still tests the player's ability to look ahead but gives them a better chance to act on it before they get locked-in from another obstacle. Regardless, I liked the challenge and polish and hope you continue entering jams!
Thanks for your comment about this project ! We had considered placing a possible sign indicating the correct bridge, but it seems that after other tasks, it has been forgotten. But for sure, we will have to slightly rework the vision of the character and the obstacles ahead.
I am not good enough for this game! Is the loop procedurally randomized, or do you start in random places? Nice concept
Thanks for your comment about this project ! The platforms are rerandomized each time you complete it, making the loop always different. The starting place remains unchanged, so like that you can see when you complete a loop :)
I love synty assets. Used them as well. Congrats on your first gamejam!
keep it up.
I admit, for my part, I haven't been working hard enough on the platforms and, therefore, the post-processing. However, three days is really short! :D
For a first gamejam, kudos to you, def not an easy exercise. For the game, it is a cool idea but pretty had and unforgiving haha, but I had fun playing it ^^
Thanks for your comment about this project ! That’s true, we could add some type of extra life or anything other on a later update :)
yo nice concept, quite difficult not gonna lie but i love it, kept me hooked!!
Thanks for your comment about this project ! Ahahah, glad to hear we were able to hook a player into this loop !
Visibility on upcoming obstacles is a little low, but presentation is very nicely polished. 3D art is excellent
Thanks for leaving a comment about this project ! Visibility wasn’t an easy task, we thought that not showing too much would make the gameplay more thought-provoking, but perhaps reviewing its degree according to the difficulty could bring a plus ?
Has a good start. It could benefit with more level variation, or change in difficulty. The leaderboards were a cool implemented feature that added some incentive for replayability.
Thank you for leaving a comment on this project ! I completely agree; we talked about the possible variations between difficulties a little late, but we’ll definitely do it ! Yes, I think the leaderboard is a must have for this type of project, to allow players to always try to beat the displayed scores.
Very interesting endless runner, i really liked the leaderboard system, adds alot of competitiveness to it
Thanks for leaving a comment about this project ! We tried to make it really fun to play and yeah, the leaderboard, I spent a lot of time on it, looping runs to get the best score possible. :face_palming:
