Yes - I'm new to game jams!
How does your game fit the theme?
Just like how all my life I’ve wanted to make games, but I always make excuses for myself, waiting for the perfect moment and motivation. In reality, the best thing you can do is to just get started!
The game’s story revolves around a caterpillar wanting to eat some tasty berry is a symbolism of everyone’s desire to do something but are not willing to put in the effort.
This game will encourage the player and make them realize that the desire to get the berry is not enough in itself, if you want something to become a reality, you must start small and slowly climb up. As long as you try and never give up, you’ll one day achieve becoming something more.
If anyone has read this far, let my game be proof that you shouldn’t wait and just get started!
P.S.
I have more details in my doc about my game dev journey, thank you! Wiggles is my first game jam ever, zero experience on anything and yet I did it!

EDIT: If you are struggle but still wants to see the whole map, the ending and a good demonstration of how to Wiggle in this game, here's a video!

<very hzrdcore and sometime weird physic but good idea
Thank you for playing! ✨
Wiggles is quite hardcore indeed, will adjust the physics post-jam, I will do my best to make it feel better to control!
Really good job for a first jam! (I'm a newbie too XD) I admit I raged a few times playing this lol
If you have some time, try my game! I hope it will be a good experience!
Congratulation for finishing a game! 🎉
Us newbies are basically classmates haha, would love to see you make a game again on the next Shovel Jam. Will definitely try out your game and leave a proper feedback, thank you for playing Wiggles!
Managed to reach around 50% before i plummet all the way back to 0 :'). Really unique and cool visuals, controls felt a little wonky for me tho. But a really nice rage game overall
OMG excellent job for 50%, you were half way there! 🎉
I will definitely tweak and adjust the physics of the caterpillar post-jam, I will do my best to make controlling feel better. Thank you so much for playing, if you do win, please send screenshot or total time, would love to see how you perform!
w game I loved that u had the play In browser cuz other people don't have it and not very many trailers or videos r available for any game your's is the first time I saw one tbh and the art was so good it was I loved it the game mechanic is unlike every other and the percent of how much the map is completed was a nice idea
Glad you enjoy the game! ✨
I wanted to communicate the progress in some shape of form to make the player feel better each jump, number go up is usually a good idea. I appreciate that you like the graphics, it's what I've envisioned for this game, I personally love old retro pixel art style games.
Thank you for playing! 🙏
For those who weren't able to reach the top, here is a video of me beating the game in around 3 minutes.
Spoilers for the whole map, the ending and a good demonstration of the "coil up" technique I was hinting at in the description.
Enjoy! ⭐🐛
9/10 rage bait, 10/10 game :3 good stuffs!
Thank you for playing! ✨
This game has caught my attention since the start, the visuals look good, I really like them!
The little trick of jumping higher is fun, but I think if the camera was a bit higher to the worm, so there was more space to click above the worm, it would be a bit easier to do. I found myself trying to do it but I raised my mouse so high that I ended up clicking too high that sometimes the game didn’t detect it, which isn’t a big of a deal, but I think would make it easier to do.
Outside of that, the game feels good or you can climb back where you fall quickly, I liked the worm and it’s good that the song is calm because it helps to take it easy while climbing. The game feels coherent in a sense that visually and what I hear is good.
I couldn’t finish the game but I wanted to leave my impression of the game, great job for your 1st game, keep going! :D
(Also I read your GDD, nice work :) )
OMG thank you for the huge praises! 🙏
Thankfully I found some amazing CC0 license assets that lives up to my vision, in the future when I learn how to do pixel art and retro music, would love to make my own stuff for my games! Never thought of the camera suggetion, that's so smart, with my limited knowledge I will try to attempt to code what you describe.
Thank you again for playing and reading my GDD, really poured my heart out for this project, I wanted to prove something to the world! ✨
nice looking game and i like the sound effects
it was very hard at the beggining, maybe i would make the jump higher or something like that, but very good work!
Thank you for playing and compliment! ✨
I will definitely consider adjusting the physics behind the caterpillar, will do my best to make it feel better for the players!
Super cool game! Controls were hard but I had fun trying to get up higher. Great work!
So glad you had fun, thanks for playing and compliment! ✨
Fun conceit, maddening controls, good rage game.
Thank you for playing! ✨
I like the way it *wiggles*
Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle~
Wow this being your first game is insane, I only got to 20% something but that¨s just a skill issue ig haha. At first I didn't get what was going on but then I got it, it was a bit hard t ocontrol and felt inconsisten sometimes but maybe I just didn't figure out how to control the catterpillar properly so I can't say much. All the graphics and sounde effects feell like they belong together which is really good, it's a unique visuual style too. I personally would have liked checkpoints but if the game is meant to be punishing then that's just how it's meant to be. Really good game and it being your first just makes it even better.
Thank you for playing and high praise! ✨
I am glad that you enjoyed the mechanics, the caterpillar is tough to control, will definitely do my best to make controlling the caterpillar feel better, and yes I am also considering a adding some sort of checkpoint system!
Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated! 🙏
I like the game, the controls felt pretty good although I think I was just not very good at controlling the caterpillar! I only got to 15%! Good job, though!
Thank you for playing! ✨
I notice a lot of people struggling in my game, I will definitely do some difficulty adjustments post-jam, but if you ever wonder what a whole run looks like, I've provided a video in the comments today!
I like it, very silly looking creature. I did get skill issued, cus I couldn't figure out how to get a consisten high jump out of it.
Thank you for playing! ✨
Very silly creature indeed! It does take awhile to get consistent high jumps, from what I can gather, people starts to understand around 15-30 minutes deep, but I've also seen someone realize after 2 hours deep too, will consider difficulty adjustments!
Very fun game. Had a bit trouble with the controls, but maybe I did not get it fully. :) Good job.
Don't worry, the whole comment section is with you haha, my game is difficult.
I am considering adding a optional systems such as checkpoints post-jam!
Thank you for playing! ✨
The game is a bit like Getting Over It; one wrong jump and you lose all your progress. But that's a good thing! It makes the game super addictive.
Yes! "Getting Over It" design philosophy was a huge inspiration!
Thank you for playing! ✨
Really nice game! Unfortunately for me I am not at the level to get further than about 25% lol. I can absolutely see the appeal here though for people that enjoy the rage genre of games! Nice art style also!
Thank you so much for playing! ✨
The artstyle that I chose really fit well with my vision, in the future when I become a better solo dev, would love to make my own assets!
25% is great! Good job on Wigglin'
This game is difficult but addictive! The mechanic is hard to master and a rage-baiter masterpiece. Sadly, i could not finish and gave out lol. Maybe next time...
Thank you for playing and compliments! ✨
Even if you gave up now, you can alway try again in the future, I believe that one day you will be able to Wiggle your way to the top! 🔥
This game has bested me, I cannot get past 25% I swear. Skill issue from me tbh.
That aside, it's really fun! I was physically making sounds in my room trying to get the worm to the places I wanted to, and to me that's good sign (I promise lmao). The simple art style was also really pleasing and effective too. Really enjoyed playing, I'll try and get to the top for sure when I have some more time
Thank you so much for playing! 25% is great, good job! ✨
Sounds like you were having a lot of fun, I am very glad, just don't freak out too much haha
I can't wait for you to beat it, please do screenshot if you do, would love to celebrate it!
I normal don't like these types of games but I think the lil' worm and your amazing trailer made not get angry. While I only got to like 20% I had fun while I played it. Also great job at making a game design document!
Thank you so muchhh!! 🔥
Glad that you like the trailer I made and thanks for reading my design document, it really help me with handling scope creep and keeping me on pace with finishing Wiggles. ✨
