WOW, this was great! For how little time you had, I think this is amazing! No bugs, and fairly well balanced (though I didn't know how to dodge the 5 beams + dash attack). I managed to get through it on my 4th or 5th attempt in 1min 28sec, but I have no idea whether that's a good time or not, lol. The combat was very satisfying and the mix of 2D and 3D was really cool. Great work!
REALLY FUN GOOD GAME
It is very polished and the gameplay is very Niceeee
Overall VERY COOL
Nice entry
This was a fun fight! The attacks made sense and were fun to learn, and I liked that they slowly got harder. I also really liked that hitting the painting did damage to the player as well; it meant that you couldn't just stand there and spam it in between attacks. It'd be fun to see a game expanding on the lore more, and having this be the final boss fight or something. The only thing is that I think the game could use a little more connection to the theme; while hitting the painting also hurts the player, I feel like the other actions don't have much weight behind them. The only weight is that if you don't play well you lose the game, which feels a little generic. But it's still a great fight!
Basically everything about this game is good. I loved the mechanics, I loved the visuals, the sounds and music were great. Awesome job!
A very interesting art style. The game was difficult but still very fun.
I love that the game felt very polished, but it looks extremely similar to your "Zone of the spinners" game... The exact same UI elements and the same indicator ring beneath the enemy, I don't know man.
I did re-use the sprite for the AOE attack indicator from that game, yeah
That said, about the only thing similar in terms of UI is the placement of the UI elements. The actual sprites are different
Thank you for playing none the less
I did not mean to offend you and the game was lots a fun. And it's totally legit to make a similar arrangement of previous games, so no worries!
very good game, good use of the theme, I love the aesthetics :p
This is such a weird entry for me to rate… While this is unquestionably the best game (tied with a couple others) in the jam I’ve played so far, the rating criteria kinda pull it down. Enjoyment is an easy 5/5. The graphics serve its purpouse well, however I am not really sure if I like them that much. But since I cant point out anything mayor it gets an easy 4/5 in graphics. The music, and sfx are fine. Nothing great or bad. So 3/5 for me. The theme interpretation however, I do not like. This is kinda the most basic possible type of game you could have made for the jam. A lot of games here have the health = stamina approach. This happens to be the best, out of all those games, however I would never recommend this game to somebody else just based on the concept alone. So while this technically fits the theme, it gets a 2/5 for theme interpretation from be, because its so basic and safe.
So overall, while this is one of the few jam games i would actually pay money for (if it had more content), I cant really say I want this game to win, because I’d rather see something more creative/experimental win a jam
Thank you for playing and for the feedback. I completely understand and agree with what you said about me playing it too safe with this game lol.
Admittedly I had a few more ideas to give the combat system a little more depth based on the main mechanic, but I had two issues preventing me from really going further with them.
1. I realised I wouldn't really have enough time to polish those ideas, and that would it would probably be better if I kept the mechanics of the player simple. Just to ensure that anyone can jump right into the game as smoothly as possible. Unfortunately that also resulted in the game being a little too safe as you mentioned
2. The boss needed to be finished, but unfortunately even then, it's currently unfinished lol. It's basically missing another attack that it was supposed to do towards the end.
Frankly, everything about this game in it's current state is more or less only 30% of what I had planned, so I thought I'd try and polish what was there at the very least.
So yeah, I completely get what you mean about wanting a game that takes more risks to win. Frankly I hope the same lol
Thank you for playing and for your thoughts
Great combat system! Lots of juice, feels great to play ^^
There was only one fight but it was a cool one!
Wicked cool! It was really satisfying, felt like a boss fight from a well-polished adventure. Only thing I’d add, if you keep working on it, is gamepad support.
This battle system has so much potential! Really fun, great job!
Loved it so much ! well done !
Cool idea, great execution. Overall very fun to play
this is really good, sadly i dont have enough time to post something to the jam thus i cant rate this. if i was able to i would rate this with 5 stars on basically everything !!
Really cool game, I especially love the artstyle and animations. The concept is also cool and it feels good to control. I like the risk reward of having to stay low health to increase your combo, although the dash attack feels a lot harder to dodge than the rest of the moveset.
