How does your game fit the theme?
Seeing as "Everything is a resource", I decided to make the only mechanic I put into the game a resource; talking! You can only talk up to three times, and if you don't want to talk, you stay quiet. However, it does eventually come to an end (since I can't make unlimited dialogue if you stay quiet the whole time and only listen).
Easter Egg Challenge
To get to the "Egg Ending" you need to first ask "Where am I?", followed by "One day?", and then stay quiet for the next choice. After the dialogue that follows you will have the choice to get the Egg Ending (It's nothing special, really.)
Self-made & used stuff
Anything else you'd like to share about your game or development process?
This is the first game I've ever made. Though there are plenty of ways I could've made it better (visuals, story, etc.), I'm just glad I was able to make something within these 10 days.

very unique indeed. Knowing there were different dialogs got me resetting a few times. Still havent seen everything as the dialog is very slow and it's the only thing happening. Maybe clicking could fill the message instantly like some other games
That was definitely a unique experience! I liked the variety of paths you can take and the dialogue then changing!
The art fit the atmosphere, and the font was well-chosen.
Now comes the biggest critic: the sound! Man, if there was sound, it would be so much more horrifying ! (did feel a bit "empty"? without it)
The theme is also checked; nicely done!
Great concept and solid game overall :)
I’m glad you liked it! Implementing sound was on my checklist but unfortunately I didn’t get around to it haha
Really innovative interpretation of the theme, loved it. I played 2 times and the experience was totally different! Good job on the variety of dialogue and also the fact that even with such minimalistic gameplay, you managed to hold my attention. I think a nice mysterious background score would really set the mood nicely and also may be some basic text sounds (similar to Inscryption) But great writing for the game, well done :)
Thank you so much! And I was actually playing Inscryption yesterday and thought about how good that kind of text sound would've been haha!
haha awesome :D
I like the concept, some audio would have been nice! Great work, it was a unique experience for sure haha
Nice entry, really cool text and the 4th wall break, amazing, maybe was to much silence, some background effecto would be nice, or if the idea was to create that isolation theme, was really good implemented x3
Really fun and interesting gameplay — I’ve never seen anything quite like it before! One thing I noticed (and saw mentioned in a few other comments) was the lack of sound during gameplay. I believe that adding audio and expanding the game with more possibilities in the future would take it to the next level.
It was a pleasure to play your game! I completed both endings — the normal one and the Easter egg — and had a great time. Fantastic job, and congratulations!
Thank you so much!
Unique and definitely an original take on the classic video game.
For a text-based game, which I would usually find boring after a while, this one was surprisingly captivating! The dialogue was interesting, professional, and logical.
The experience, while interesting, did feel a bit empty. Perhaps some ominous music or clicking sound effects would have filled the void a bit better? Or maybe that's the way it should feel - a void, if that's what you are going for.
I did encounter a bug where I was able to speak 4 times and it would just repeat the same dialogue indefinitely and allow me to keep speaking, which was an unfortunate way to close the game. I would have liked to see an ending!
The theme could have also been tied in a bit better, yes, speaking is a resource and speaking is everything... but it definitely doesn't give that "everything" feel. Your interpretation of the theme though was very unique and out of the classic game developer cliche, and I have to respect that.
This game has a ton of potential - keep at it, I really love the concept. For a first game, this is an incredible start! Wishing you luck on your development journey ahead. 😄
Thank you! I did try to get some clicking sound effects for the dialogue but no matter how I did it the sound just didn't fit in well with the game. I was going for the void thing which is partially why I didn't add music, but I do agree it needs some sound! And sorry about the bug, I used a .json file to store all of my dialogue and I must've had a typo in it that made it loop back around. Instead of actually keeping track of how many times you've talked, I created each branch of dialogue in a way that it always ends after the third one (or in a few special cases, earlier)
I'm somewhat conflicted about this. From one side- there is very little in this game. Like, I'm all for minimalism, and all that, but still, Some background music and even a slight animation would be cool.
From the other hand... well, I liked the idea a lot. A game, where your only interaction is talking, and THAT being a resource? Pretty original. With the creepy atmosphere, and decently written dialogue (although I guess, that depends how much you like the game being self-referential), and it's something!
Either way- I see you are a beginner, and this reminds me a bit of a first game I made, years ago :)
Keep it up- game development gets easier the more you do it! :)
Thank you!! I'm already a lot better (I think) than I was before making this one, so hopefully my future projects will be much better.
I really enjoyed this game, the dialogue was charming and funny, and the concept was very unique for this jam. My only real complaints is that theres no sound, and the text could be a bit bigger. Hope this advice helped, and good luck on your other games in the future!
Yes it does, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the dialogue!
I liked the concept, like many people here, it seems. Of course, there could be more. The Easter ending is quite funny. And the text itself is interesting to read, but, of course, I want more features. Anyway, congratulations on the first game, and even on the Game Jam, I think you'll be able to come up with a lot of creative game ideas in the future.
Thank you!
I'm nixing my usual format. A text-based game doesn't do much visuals, and there is no audio to speak of. You've definitely got the best writing here, which I'm glad. I suppose I rank the copy editing with 'gameplay' on this. The theme's clever, though I'd like to see a meter on how many times I've spoken already. The meta-ness of the dialogue doesn't fit with the 'I'm gonna kill you' setting--I would've loved to have seen this go full creepypasta. Overall, if this is your first time making a game, I'm interested enough to see your second.
Thank you for the feedback! Yeah this is my first game and I wasn't able to implement all of the ideas I originally had for real gameplay portions of it, but instead decided to focus on the story and being able to choose what path you want to delve into. But, I will definitely do better with my next game and make it more gameplay focused.
Great game!Really enjoyed it and it fits the teme perfectly but i think the game would be better with some speech sounds
I think the concept of having limited talking is super cool and unique! The dialogue was very well written too! I wish there was a way to speed up the dialogue because I wanted to keep trying different branches but it's really hard to watch the beginning dialogue over and over again. I also think the game could be enhanced by adding adding sfx to when the guy is talking, and maybe the ability to look around the room. Overall, I think this game goes really good with the theme and I really enjoyed it! Keep up the good work!
Yes I did plan on adding a lot of the things you're saying but unfortunately it took a lot of my time learning the game development process since I'm a beginner, but I will definitely go back once the game jam is over and enhance it. One of the parts of dialogue even talks about DLC haha!
I totally understand! Learning game development takes time, I'm glad you had the courage to join a game jam!
