Cool game loved it
Really cool idea mixing the VN style with that chill driving mechanic. The dialogues are natural and the story really got me into the game. Great submission!
I didn't understand the story that much, apart from the mc leaving his town behind and all that. I'm sure you have to get all the endings and choices to understand the whole story but I think i'm gonna check this game out again at a later time and finish it.
Gameplay-wise, the interactive driving adds some form of engagement though having to hold W and not doing anything else get boring after a while, wish there were atleast an option to let it autodrive or atleast have something else to do while driving like turning roads and such.
Cool game otherwise, Definitely worth the time playing through.
Thanks for your feedback! Yeah we definitely should've cut some scope from the story end to flesh out the driving a bit more.
Good game
Thank you!! :D
Thank you for playing! I watched some of this (because I suck at watching let's plays of videos because I cringe at my contributions, lol) but I'm thankful that you put aside the time and thought the storytelling was great! You're a gem :D
I really liked the vibes! It felt very much like a late night drive with friends in trying to keep up with the conversation while also staying alert. I also really liked that the character talking had a light on them. I find it hard keeping track of everyones names in games so between that and the characters distinct voices in their dialogue really helped. The character designs were also well made. Being able to resume from certain parts was an excellent touch. Not having to replay everything is always a bonus with games you can die in or get an ending partway through. Very thoughtful.
As others have said the dialogue does seem to drag a bit. I appreciate being able to control the car as that adds a level of engagement. And the dialogue does succeed in adding to the characterization of everyone, but it still feels like there needed to be a bit more something to it. Maybe having the choices effect things a bit more or a scene where you can get out of the car at a stop to walk around? Or maybe letting the player part way through be able to choose something to add to the dashboard. Even just a small change of pace to make it feel more engaging and keep the player invested given the length of the dialogue that needs to take place.
I crashed the car at the start to see what would happen and the whole rest of the game I was really worried I'd kill everyone and trying not to lol. I actually stopped the car a moment before I hit the animal so the car was already stopped a safe distance away from it when everyone started freaking out.
All in all though it was a good experience and I really enjoyed it!
Haha, we'll have to fix the deer thing, that's one of the fun moments. Thanks for your thoughtful feedback!
Super neat idea, but the story really drags on and I found it hard to stay invested. Would love to play a more stripped down version of this because combining horror, VN and real time driving has a lot of potential.
Keep it up!
Ah yes, makes sense. Keeping it mind for the next time I write a story to maybe get to the action quicker. And to strip things down a bit. Thank you for the helpful feedback :D
Cool game, I personally found the story to be a bit slow, felt like there was a lot of small talk. But other than that I like the idea of a VN where you can do something while the dialogue is going on, seeing the characters in the rear view mirror was also a cool touch.
I feel like the driving aspect should be fleshed out a bit more as well. Maybe you have to make turns at some point, maybe there’s other cars you have to avoid, in general something to make it so you need to engage with it more.
Overall, cool game idea
Ah yes, we were aiming for a slow burn but I can definitely feel that. And I think it also would have been good to flesh out some of the driving sections. We definitely had a lot planned, and put in what we could for this jam - which was a lot, and psy was a machine in implementing a lot of it! Thanks for the compliments and constructive feedback. Very much appreciated :D
Really awesome game I like the story and themes, and this game is a cool combination of desert bus and a VN, but I'm encountering bugs or crashes that is making it hard to continue. Story is really good so I will try again later, I was stopped after hitting the deer and the game wasn't progressing so I drove around the two who got out and I couldn't make the game progress anymore or reload where I was at. This was after the game crashed after choosing a dialogue option after the "I printed them out" dialogue tree. Aside from the issue most aspects feel like a commercial game I would've paid for, voice acting would be cool though would make it easier to drive.
Ahhhhh! Thank you so much for your kind compliments <3 Yeah, there are some bugs/crashes in the current version, but they are currently being worked on by my teammate psy, who is a legend at such things. But thank you again for so many of your kind words, especially the comments about the commercial game aspect and the voice acting suggestion. Makes it all worthwhile that you enjoyed what you got to experience ^_^ (We'll fix this ASAP!)
Edit: Version 1.0 is up, with most of the bugs (hopefully!) fixed. (Yay.) Thanks for your patience, and enjoy the final game :)
I liked this a lot! Unfortunately the game randomly crashed for me when I was pretty far in and I couldn't seem to pick up from later miles. Was super intriguing though! Well done. Love the concept.
Ah, that's a shame... I'm sorry that happened. We're currently trying to fix these bugs (by that I mean psy, the resident code wiz of the group!). In the meantime, thank you very much for giving it a go and I'm very happy that you liked what you played <3
