Cute graphics! I included it in my Wowie Jam 2.0 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Oh thanks! 😄

I left you a comment there :)

I like the grayscale palette and the particles, I think that music and the sound effects would be nice in a next version.

Pretty cool, the graphics look amazing!! I just wish there was more than just a literal endless runner, also music and SFX would have really juiced up the game, but nonetheless good job!

Very nice design, Jumping from line t line could be soft :) nice game overall

Very cool artstyle ,but i think that some soundeffects/music would make the game better.

Feel free to check out my game as well. :)

Cool game. Sad that it doesn't have any sound :(

Good Game

A very good and interesting runner, to say the least. Graphics are one point, I wished there were more sounds / music but that's not a major problem
I really liked playing it and trying to go as far as possible. well done !

love the art and the core mechanics — which were super simple and just goes to show that simplicity can be so addicting! it would be really hypnotic with some music behind it, but overall great job :)

The game was done well, it was fun and above all the graphics, taking into count that it is a prototype, is developed really well.

However, if I have to be honest, this game has given me many twisting ideas:

In my opinion you were unable to give the idea of an "infinite race" in the right way. Every time I lost, it just seemed like the level was starting all over again, without giving me a choice, nor time to process what happened, and that doesn't seem good design to me. You have to give the impression that you are traveling in an infinite world and give the player feedback on where to go wrong, all this at the same time and without interrupting the flow of the game, and even if one of these things is done wrong or, even worste, is missing, the illusion of infinity would break. And that's why i think you have chosen a very delicate idea.

Let's talk about lives: are they really necessary in an endless runner like this??? A game over is the best way to stop the flow of a game (duh. They are made on this purpose) and, as mentioned before, stopping the flow of the game breaks the illusion that this world is truly "infinite". Maybe you can try to punish mistakes by slowing down the player...

Try to give some spyce to the whole thing: add some obstacles, arrange them in a different way, adjust the difficulty, who knows, try adding a story, maybe it could work. The game, right now, is too monotonous and in the long run it's boring.

Most importantly, the sounds: they are important to give atmosphere to a game and to communicate to the player what is happening. But I can understand that maybe you didn't have time, or maybe (I hope this is not the case) that you thought "this is a prototype: it dosen't need sounds".

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game, it was beautiful and all. I just wanted to tell you what I think about the game and give you some feedback.

Wow! man, thank you for your detailed review, I really appreciate it!

I'd just like you to read the game's description first, it explains some of the points you mentioned :)

Including why the game just cuts and resets when you lose (I know that it is not a good way to do that but that's what my time allowed me to do), I even based my story on that hahah!

The second point is the lives, I totally agree with what you said, but the thing is, that the lives system is a part of a bigger thing that I haven't implemented yet (I plan on polishing the game and publish it as a mobile game).

Also, I plan on adding various obstacles / enemy types, more interactions with the monster chasing you, power-ups, score boosters, and more...

About the sounds and music, the game is atmospheric (supposed to be), this will not be achievable without those, but couldn't add them for the reasons mentioned above...

And finally, thanks again for your great review Marxy , it illustrates some extremely important points from a game-design perspective!

This is some of the progress I made on the game the day right after the submission was closed, just in case you were interested and haven't see it yet :)

The game was okay but i know that's just a reskin of BlackThronProd Endless runner tutorial , with some different art styles , this is not a bad thing but i was hoping to see a bit more

Great visuals! The game is simple and fun, but you should add some saounds and music.

If you want to continue updating the game, add some scene transitions at the restart and for the browser build make the game screen bigger in the unity or on itch.io (don't know which one is the problem, but the game is cut).

I love the particles and the style!
