Fun game! The speed ramping on the moving needs a little tweak, but the fireballs were really satisfying :) nice job with the enemy AI too :)

Thank you very much. If you enjoyed it. I made some updates based on community feedback and added it as a link in the description. It now has a difficulty setting where you can switch between old and new movement style

Loved the concept.Game seems very buggy, I think you can complete it post jam.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback.

What do you mean buggy? I didn't encounter any bugs. I did hear people say that they can glitch through walls but that's currently an engine limitation. Will be fixed in future versions of the engine. And I think it's less of an issue in the updated version that I posted in the description and in the comments.

Developer(+1)

I did realize that that link didn't work

Yes I could go through the walls.

Developer(+1)

Okay. Thanks again for the feedback. I'm gonna update my engine to allow for swept AABB collision detection. That should fix the issue. Having better performance would have probably fixed it as well.

Waiting for a post jam project.

I already made an update that should prevent the player from glitching out of the map. I cheated a bit though. I made the bounding boxes of the walls much bigger. So they expand outside the screen

The canvas now also scales to the window size while keeping the aspect ration making the game always full screen. Or at least full window.

Super difficult having to trade your own life force to save the Yogscast!  RNGJesus saw me all the way through after a few runs.  Slippery movement definitely made it harder - that's what you were going for so nice one!  Impressive that you made your own Engine for this too! Nice work!!

I'm gonna be a contrarian here and say I liked the fast, slippery player movement. All of your inputs have to be very measured and careful, it adds difficulty in a neat way. I only saved three of the yogcast so RIP

Developer

Maybe I should just add a difficulty setting. One would give double the points over the other.

Now that I decided to randomly play the game again I see what people mean with the character movement. After the jingle jam I will make an update.

For those that would like to try it now. Here is the new version:

I loved the art. As other users have said, the player movement is a bit slippy. A solid entry overall!

It's a pretty cool game and I like the art style a lot. The player movement was horrible though, as it felt like I was walking on ice.

I have been watching this game during the gamejam and I like how much it has improved.

Sadly it was not possible for me to finish the game, because every few levels either my character or the enemies go off-screen.
Still a great game and lovely idea! Big fan of the credit page, especially that last bit. ;P

Happy Birthday!

Also I manage to complete the first two levels ok, but it moves far too quickly in general, so if I have to move I don't have time to fire things.

Thanks. My 8 year old sister and other people that tried the game said the same. I shall try to find a better balance for my next game.

Great looking sprites! Bonus points for being able to shoot the Yogs! You sure do move rapidly though!

Thanks for the feedback. I'll remember that. I felt the higher speed kinda makes the game  a bit harder or feel more professional. But I'll take that into account for my next jam.
