you're so good at creating an immersive atmosphere! I usually don't scare easily but this game had me at the edge of my seat from time to time.

The audio, the art, the lore, it's so well polished!

The puzzle mechanics were also very clever. I could definitely see this expanded onto a fully developed game. great work!

Thanks so much!

Hey Tytan! I just finally got to play your game and have to say: "The Colour Out of Space" has gotten a really interesting interpretation here. As I may have said before, I love Lovecraft stories. For example I loved "Eternal Darkness" very much because of it. It was the reason I bought a GameCube back in the day and the only game I owned for it, lol. So you already got me with this alone.

I was very much disappointed when I reached the mushroom. Not because I didn't know that the game is not yet finished, but because it was so entertaining and suspenseful that I wanted it to let me know how it continues. But I understand, how could I not? My own entry suffered from a lack of time to finish it. :D

At first it was a bit confusing to be starting at day 499 and be then thrown to day 1. But I actually like that really much. The sounds are fitting, the atmosphere is awesome, the graphics are minimalistic yet stylish and satisfying.

What can I say? I will not be surprised if you get one of the upper spots in the ratings. Because of the really tough competition it will be a hard fight for the first place though. Good luck and very well done! Love it!

Thanks so much! Yeah The Colour Out of Space was definitely a big inspiration (in fact if you've seen the 2019 movie with Nic Cage, it was where I took the colour from haha).

Starting at day 499 was kinda my attempt to include the "End is Near" theme (aside from it being an end of the world scenario), since we're starting at the end of the story before jumping back to the beginning. Glad you ended up liking it!

I'll definitely post in the Discord once the final version is up (should be in the next few days) so you can see how the story concludes :)

First thing I did was test out standing in the door as it closed, perfection...

I really liked it! Great atmosphere and artstyle, I liked the puzzle mechanics of the fuses, even though I did get stuck on the day with the mushroom. (if you have any tips for that level, let me know, would love to try finish it!)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying it, I'm glad you like the door haha :D

Sure, what point did you get to in the level?

Submitted(+1)

It was day 179~ (the one with the first occurence of the pink mushroom beside the lift down), and once I'd gotten down, I couldn't figure out the right combo of fuses to get through the door on the left 😅

Developer(+1)

Ah I see, if you're where I think you are you just need to get a fuse into the fusebox on the upper left part - go back and see if there are any fuses that no longer need to be in place :)  (if you still get stuck I can send more detailed instructions later on)

Submitted(+1)

Thank you for that, I had missed the fuse on the right hand side, I made it to the temporary end! Really enjoyed it, despite being thoroughly jump scared 😂 Following to see more when it's released!

I also could not solve the day with the mushroom :)

Developer

Let me know what point you got to, and if you would like some tips :)

I don't play horror games very often. This showed me that I need to start doing that. I loved this. The sound design in this is amazing. One small thing that happened, other than the walking animation bug off of the lifts that someone else already pointed out was when the purple tentical monster thing popped out, I obviously panicked and died the first time, the second time I saw the solution with the fuses but then my brain was like, wait I could also just squash it with the lift. I didn't think that squahing it would actually work because I noticed the fuse solution which was being built up to anyway but I tried it for science and it didn't work which resulted in my death. My point being some people might think of that first and get frustrated when it doesn't work. Other than that, the atmosphere in this was genuinly stunning and I hope that I can one day be good enough to make something like this in only 72 hours

Thank you for playing it and for the excellent feedback! As I mentioned, I'll try to add something in for when you squish the creature with the lift :)

Like I said in Discord, the really reminds me of Flashback. Also really reminds me of a game I was developing/learning how to dev that has a really similar style and feel. Feels very polished. I noticed that if I didn't wait to start moving at the top or bottom of a lift, I'd be moving but not animating. Was the only bug I noticed. Great work. 'Out Here Alone' looks promising too!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I'm not sure if I ever played Flashback but I definitely was a big fan of Another World :D  And yeah I'm aware of the lift animation bug, I'll try to get that fixed for the final release :)
