Did your team create most/all of the graphics yourselves?

Yes

Did your team create most of/all the audio yourselves?

No

How did you incorporate the theme "COMBINATION"?
I borrowed the quick time events mechanic which is quite common in narrative based games.

In this game, you would need to press a "COMBINATION" of keys which is prompted on screen in order to launch a missile to attack an alien spaceship.

Loved this entry! The controls were a bit hard to grasp at first, and then I figured out that mashing the four keys or cycling between them randomly was way easier than trying to press them all at the same time.

The SFX and visuals were splendid as well! :)

Simple but good looking and fun game, the main mechanic is not that easy to get at first but it makes sense when you try a bunch of times xD

Developer(+1)

Ah yes. Appreciate your time.

I think this has become a common response for the mechanic in this mini game.

Wonderful insight for future games I want to make. Thanks!~ <3

Small, but pretty fun! I could see it easily expanded upon with more elements. Great art, very polished, fun gameplay, great work!

Developer

Hehe thanks buddy!~~ appreciate it!

I can say that I'm not that good at playing this type of game/QTE. But I do like how you set up the whole game page; all the details that I needed to know were there. I've always been a fan of pixel art games, I wish I could make art like this. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Heyy 😅 Yeah you are not the only person who said it. I have problem balancing the game. I dont know how fast or slow the qte should be.

But thank you for your compliments and your time! <3

woooow super cool game, pretty hard for me, to be honest I suck at QTE games, but I love the idea, really nice game :3

Developer(+1)

Hmm yeah that seems to be the general responses from alot of ppl who tried it xD
I should do something about it

So, you made a rhythm game, IMO. Which is awesome, there arent enough rhythm games. Obviously this is a jam and theres only so much time, but if you continue developing this game and make a solid sound track that has a beat to the QTEs, I think that would be super sick. Good game, thanks for making

Developer

Wellll its not exactly a rhythm game, coz theres no rhythm. I just wanted it to be quick time events. But I can see the similarity with a rhythm game.

Perhaps I should bridge the gap in the next dev cycle. Let's see.

Thanks for the input tho! <3

Sorry, I should've explained myself better. That vibe i personally got from the game was that it was a rhythm game! Yeah, not trying to say "well your game is this hurr durr." Sorry for the confusion!

Developer

OUH! Hahaha, I get it now. No worries. xD I might have read it wrong too.

What I liked

  • I'm a big fan of the art style.
  • Implementing QTE is pretty ambitious, so huge kudos on that.
  • I liked the music in general, but I will mention it again in the section below.
  • The theme is clearly implemented without having to be explained how the theme is implemented.

Suggestions/Feedback

  • Personally, I felt like the music was a little too loud in comparison with entity sounds, I feel like entity sound volumes should take priority over the music's volume. They're the main concern so the player should be drawn to that.
  • The downside of implementing QTE is that a tutorial is basically mandatory. Not having one, you risk a lot of players giving up because they don't feel like scrolling back to the page and re-reading everything again. I think its even more critical in your game's case because of the art style.

Overall, its a good submission. If you move forward with this project, I'd love to play again when a tutorial is implemented!

Developer

I like a constructive feedback!~

I didnt realize the music was too loud actually. This is something I need to look into.

Not designing tutorial was big mistake for me. A mistake I have repeated twice.

No problem. Good feedback helps us get better!

I really like the art! The game loop  is straight forward and you get right into the action. Nice job!

Developer

Awesome thanks! <3 Like your hair combing game too!
