Very nice and well written! Loved piecing together parts of their story. It’s one of those where you just want more. Angsty pining is my favorite after all. Made me tear up a couple of times :’) The voice acting was really nice as well!
There's clearly a whole wide story and background behind those characters and damn, I always love that. I need to say that visually it's pretty damn neat, especially the smoke took me out for a moment. I think I'll need to replay it in a bit just to make sure I got everything right and got every detail
aaah thank you for playing and for your comments!! the smoke isn't perfect but I was still proud of it!
i ended up replaying this one a few times to pick up the details i knew that i was missing... building a fuller picture of how complex this particular heartache feels was a trip that i really loved gnawing on - AHHHHH i'm such a sucker for twisting classic phrases to take on new meanings. turning over the phrase "memento mori" takes on a much more complicated, sharper edge to it in this story. love the polish, the subtle smoke effects, and clean VO work. great stuff!!!
thank you sm for your kind words 🥺 😭
Tragic and bittersweet, I'm left sitting here wanting for more!! When people can leave you in ways that aren't just physical... devilishly scrumptious... ~M~,
thanks for playing!! (it hurt me to write it!)
Packs a lot of heartache into a short game! As a romantic I can’t help but wish the best for both of them, but I could see their story developing a number of ways and still being very satisfying. Great work!!
I wish the best for them too (I say, as if I don't have control over it all)... thanks for commenting <3
LUNAMAKAIO LOVE INTEREST :FLAME EMOJI: :FLAME EMOJI:
im stupid and at first i thought you were declaring ME a love interest... like okay tbf whatever robo says goes
I can't rate this, since I haven't made a game, but I wanted you to know how much I loved this.
It's absolutely beautiful! I tend to avoid anything that looks sad or even bittersweet, but when I saw you had made this game, I didn't hesitate to play it, and I'm happy I did.
For anyone considering this game... It's short, but it will grab your heart with a vise and squeeze it until you feel choked, but there's so much emotion in it that you won't regret it. The art is beautiful and James is incredible (I expect nothing less from the author!). I definitely recommend it. Now excuse me while I drop some drops in my eyes, because they are burning something fierce.
Wow thank you so much for the kind words! I usually try to avoid things like this but it seems once a year I must let the angst out in some form :')
sorry for the burning eyes!! </3
So many great aspects all around, from the aesthetic and art, to voice acting (which was so awesome to see within a 10 day period) to the story itself. It had very poetic notes and the atmosphere created while playing this really put me in the headspace needed to process and feel what the MC would feel. Great work!
thank you so much!! so glad you enjoyed (and poetic notes, waah i weep) <3
This was beautifully made. Really!
But, an army guy? ... I pass ... ^^ (no impact on the vote though)
Thank you!
And haha army guys in fiction I'm all for... army guys in real life? 👀 ... yeah nevermind 💀😂
Ooh, this really left me curious about the situation at play in this game, and how the dynamic would change with MC and this new "James"!
I'm pleased it left you curious, thanks for the kind words <3
Memento Mori’s greatest strength is in its specificity, both in the prose and in the production. The protagonist and James both have such a strong voice as they dwell on a very specific feeling. Its script is extremely tight, and that tightness imparts a confidence that absolutely carries Memento Mori. The setup and payoff with grief sapping the color out of the scene is so well executed. It sneaks up on me every time. It’s also worth mentioning that having strong voice acting in a 10-day jam game is a testament to both the tightness of the script and the diligence of Memento Mori’s production. Great work <3
Narrative praise from you is a dream, thanks Michael <3
This is an entire time. I find myself thinking back to the story and wanting to know more about everything, so good job!
glad I could create some intrigue, thank you!
