Figured I'd open up the discussion if people want to talk about what they plan to work on during this jam. Plus, if you share the game you're planning to update, people can check it out before it gets changed.

As for me, I'd like to add a bit of content to Pillow Fight, one of the games I released about a year ago. I've not often gone back to games I've released in the past so I'd like to try doing an update for once and see how that goes.

What about everyone else?

Well, i'm gonna use the time of this jam to get back at my main project: Heartless: Vice Essence.

I had a problem with my PC being stole, and now after i bought another garbage PC (literally) i figured out maybe i should go back at this project, since it was quite fun (and the MAIN reason of that project is proving that literally anyone with enought desire could make a game)

If ye wondering my PC is an:

 Intel I3 (smt like 2.4Ghz).

 2 GB Ram

Integrated Video Card (abt 100mb vram)

Notebook (no the battery don't work)

I paid smt like 100 Reais (or  abt 20 Dollars)

<3 ~ Now plz someone else comment their history i like to get to know them!

I think I should update my Cells project written on Scratch, where you are a researcher of microscopic life, spectate the predators and prey, feel like a real researcher in a facility and prevent the simulation from going off-control.

Not sure yet if Ill have the time but I'm planning on working on my game Starburst. Was made for a sort of Game Jam called Games Fleadh where it won 2 awards but it definitely needs a content update since it's really repetitive right now.

Link to it if anyone's curios: https://shadowmalteser.itch.io/starburst

I'm planning on updating Penguin Bros Boarders.  The game is still relatively new but it needs more play time. Right now there is only 4 tracks and not much to do after the 4 races. Right now it could use some general feedback to help guide updates. I'm not sure how much time it will take but i plan to add a new game mode to it and some new tracks.

I'd like to improve my most recent project, Slimy Scales, a silly platforming arena fighter I made for a game jam. I believe it's a really good game, but I was unable to realize just how difficult it was to play while I was making it. I hope to make it more fun and fair for the player with the time I have during this jam. Specifically, I'll add more health, make the platforming smoother, rework some of the visuals, and maybe change up the gameplay a little.

If anyone wants to play the difficult version, you can check it out here: https://liminaldirectory.itch.io/slimy-scales

just played it and it was pretty cool

Okay.

Now what?

Your goal is to defeat as many slimes as possible. Hitting them with your dash (E or shift keys) will damage the slimes. If you haven't already, I recommend playing the tutorial, as it explains everything from controls to gameplay mechanics :)

I want to improve the first game i ever made, skeleton summon for the 2025 pixel jam since it's a bit junk right now lol, its not really fun to play yet, i want to add a dodge mechanic and i would like to adjust the hit mechanics mainly, i also want to add health displays!

Ah.. i just remembered the glitch that was driving me crazy cause i couldn't fix it, I have a few ideas now at least

I'll update my game toe-tal-freedome, a weird philosophical platformer where you can only jump by stubbing your toe, that I made for a jam.

It has cruelty squad inspired graphics and it was fun to work on, but I don't think it's actually fun to play, so I'll have to work on that.

Im planning on update Eternal fall, my oldest game on itch.io for now. I made this game september on past year for a game jam (almost got lowest score :D), and since then i made so much stuff lol. I dont really know what to work in, so i just upgraded the visuals of my game, added more obstacles to dodge, made the game more challenging when you have more points, and added a new world to it (pretty overkill but i liked it). Idk what else to add so...

9 games is such a short time is very impressive

you would be shocked with the amount of side projects i have lol

Honestly? Tell me more about your process! Quick turnaround is what you need in the beginning when you're finding the fun. A lot of devs, from indie to AAA, myself included, never quite master the art of the Minimum Viable Product. How do you do it?

As someone that have plenty of free time (im on vacations at school so), i usually get one day and create a small, minimal game idea or get a game where i already made something, and rush some levels in it. I usually get codes i made before for other projects as my game logic is pretty much always the same (one code for scene loading, other for stuff to persist between unity scenes, one to rotate objects etc), and almost always the most time consuming part is making the levels.

At the beginning of my projects, i make pretty much whatever passes in my mind -  even if is copy-pasting the same structures over and over and adding a giant rotating boss on it - and pick the test levels that got the most fun to play. After some time, i either create other levels buffing the already cool levels, for make challenges for skilled players/me, or i start fixing not so cool levels i made (if my motivation is running out, i probably wont create original levels lol)

After that, i make an UI (usually the most boring part as im getting tired and making UI is zzzzzzz), and add the best levels to my game. Then, i add stuff like URP and post processing, and make the game look overall cooler with bloom, ACES tonemapping (whatever it means), and even color curves to make color palletes (because why to make color palletes the normal way when you can edit curves that changes the color of stuff?)

Even though all of this i can easily make in a day, the game is pretty much done after that. I just add some audio and done. I can release the game, but as i dont have playtesters, is hard to me to predict if the game is fun or not. So i usually delay the game release, after some time i play it again, and see what could be fixed. Maybe after ssome time i release the game, and gg, thats how i can make tons of games in a few days

you also need to purchase upgrades and get items to progress further

What's your longest run? I played just long enough to learn that I wasn't capable of learning anything. All the information needed to make good decisions is hidden. I don't feel like I can grow or improve without dying.

Hi Warp, i've now added a tutorial system and new indicators for showing how things are unlocked, please check it out and let me know if it meets your concerns about the information available.

The game goes to 7 weeks, i've completed it. Hopefully with these new systems in place more players will be able to as well!

I think I misread the description of this Jam. I've been remaking an old game of mine from years ago. Does that count? Or does it need to be a game that's currently available somewhere online?
