Awesome game but really hard without checkpoints, and saving people is almost impossible :D
Excelent graphics and sound! Managed to save 2 people on my first run. Overall just an awesome game.
Good job, two is a good number π ! Saving all people on a first run is really hard, you need to move slowly and carefully. We wanted the game to be difficult without making sacrifice to get buff.
We're super happy to hear you've found the game awesome.
This was rad as heck (it is amazing how satisfying firing and reloading looks, sounds and feels considering the absolute pixel minimalism of the graphics). I agree with a lot of what UnityMember said, but I am nowhere near as good at this game as them, because I died plenty of times. I strongly suggest adding save points or checkpoints or continues or lives or SOMETHING as I'm not actually that terrible at video games of this kind but I feel like I'll never see all the content you made if I have to keep replaying the early levels over and over to get back to where I was.
Thanks for your feedback! Considering how short levels are we decided that checkpoints are not necessary for now that the game consists of only 4 levels. We know that the game is hard but I'm sure if you play multiple times you can actually finish it with 2 or 3 followers saved!
I finished the game with 0 people saved, 0 sacrifices made and 0 deaths. The game is fun, but the 'follower' part doesn't work in its current state. It falls on the same pitfalls that most games with escort missions do (GTA IV for example). For that I have some suggestions:
A) Make the AI have some kind of survival instinct and actively try to stay away from danger and hide behind the player (too hard and unnecessary for a jam game in my opinion).
B) Implement a "Stay here!" command to make the follower sit in place until the player cleans the enemies ahead and comes back to pick them up later (might not be very engaging for the player).
C) Make the follower invincible (this is the one I would personally go with).
Other than that, the game feels great to play. Shooting down zombies never got old for me.
That's right that the follower system is far from perfect but it's still really manageable to save some, of course it can be hard on a first playthrough. Probably a bit too hard.
The first option is something we should probably have tested more. I think the main problem now is that the follower is a bit slow to react.
But the stay here option is not the path we wanted to take and making the follower invincible would destroy the purpose of the game.
But we're glad you liked killing those zombies and had some fun !
I liked the game! The sound design and gameplay were great. The only bug I encountered, was an error message that occurred when you sacrificed a follower.
Thanks for playing and your feedback! I'll definitely take care of that error you mentioned.
The game feel is amazing! good job :)
Really appreciated the tutorial section at the start of the game! It wasn't always easy to get the followers out of harm's reach while running away from the zombies, but it still made for some exciting action, and the animation/sound effects/music really set the mood!
We'll definitely look into a system to make follower get out of harm's way. Thanks for the feedback!
Super cool! This feels like something that could get a full game release post-jam (and I kinda hope it does)
Wow good to see you liked the game at the point of wanting a full release π maybe we're going to do a bit more with the game after the jam, that's a mystery for now π
We're glad you liked the game! Have fun playing it multiple times π
Overall super fun and polished, great job!
Very nice!
