The atmosphere and the animation of this game is really nice. The door sometimes got stuck when and not closing after opened. Making it blocks the way from time to times.

The style was really unique! Scary too ahah really nice game!

W-w-why isn't this game a horror game yet? Heck I am damn scared from this..

Heck! great game

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you liked it. Threw a lot of time, energy and the blood of sacrificing 8 year olds while doing it.

Submitted(+1)

Yea! Thats the TEB Of gamedev!! Thats the best way to make a good game!! T.E.B. for life!! Hope the 8 year olds had a *fun* experience

"I was too damn sure that there was gonna be a jumpscare at the end, well... it didnt happen but still made me creeped out as hell. Awesome game, you should make a full horror game at this point lol" - Pwerrr

Developer

I am going to make it a full horror game! I'm truly happy with how it turned out, and I am even  more happy that most of the people who play it get creeped out or stay under great tension through most of the game.

So spooky! I love the atmosphere and sound design, it was consistently creepy all the way through. The chains are super impressive! I hope you hang on to that bit of code to reuse in a future project, because I'm sure that was a challenge to get working.

Developer(+1)

Affirmative! I've locked the code in a titanium box and I ate it, so it's in a safe place I only need to....

So good!!! I admittedly didn't finish (The spooky atmosphere was done too well! I don't have a strong enough heart for genuinely creepy things) but I enjoyed what I did play through! The sounds design was really good (spooky distant whistling got to me haha) and I enjoy your sense of humor (the 'cheers fellow cultist', framed picture of a broom, and the radio moment made me laugh) I also like what you did with the hanging chains and how they move (? I'm not sure how to describe it but I'm sure you get what I'm trying to refer to). Overall a great experience!

Developer

Yep I know for which chains you are talking about. Afterall it took me several hours to make them. Anyways, I'm glad you liked our ironic horror game! πŸ˜‹

HOW COULD YOU TROLL ME LIKE THAT WITH THE RADIO. I thought I had to go in there and I was mentally preparing. I felt like a fool when I walked in lmao (though very much relieved). Great stuff!! Really enjoyed this game :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! And yeah, that was the aim all along with the radio. More jumpscares in the future though, I'm going to continue working on that game for sure. At least until I make it how I had planned to.

Delightlyfully spooky atmosphere, the low-res aesthetic kept me on my toes, seeing things everywhere. Unfortunately as others have mentioned, the doors caused a bit of trouble, but otherwise a nice little experience. (There's something weirdly funny about horrible chainsaw sounds playing on a radio, too)

Developer

We were aiming for that PS1 look and feel only to make the game feel more scary. I think we succeeded at that. However doors are to be fixed, they seem like a lot of trouble πŸ˜–

Submitted(+2)

That was very atmospheric, I was on edge all the way through the game. The gameplay reminded me of my childhood when I was visiting Room Of Horrors attractions on carnivals. Great job!

Developer(+1)

What a great reference! Now I can use it to describe the game. Thanks! And yeah... game should have had more jump scares near the end but you know... time πŸ˜…

Submitted(+1)

Spooky stuff, to anyone struggling with the door. Run against it after unlocking it.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yep, thanks for mentioning that... I should've made it more obvious that it works that way. I might actually do it as part of the tutorial.

Fantastic use of audio

Submitted(+1)

Nice work with the audio, setting a spooky vibe. Great graphics as well. I had problems with the doors, not knowing how to open door at the beginning at first. It made sense after doing it once but it's not a conventional way and the audio when pressing E on it made me think it was locked.
Not sure where the end was either, I did the sacrifice and ran through the house a second time but stopped when I had a door block my way after opening it.

Good amount of stuff in this though which is impressing considering the time limit! :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah.. doors are kind of a problem. I'm going to work on them after the jam ends for sure.

Amazing atmosphere, did get stuck on a door when returning to the start. Great post effects and particularly enjoyed the chains!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed the chains XD. I had a hard time implementing them. And also It was hard to decide if it's even worth it (performance-wise). Mainly because our aim was to make the game retro(aka to perform well on basically all pcs). Anyways, I'm happy with how they turned out.

I should probably do performance update though.
