Really like this submission. I found it really difficult but that's mainly down to me being impatient and running around constantly haha. Love the lighting and the sound design on those enemies :)

Developer

Thanks! Thanks for streaming it to, managed to catch a bit of it at a later date. No, I think I made it a bit too hard. I've slowed down the enemies when you get spotted on my version which ill upload after the voting ends. I wanted it to be very tense coming to every corner, but watching people play it, it don't think it really panned out how I imagined. Haha no one should like my home brew sound effects :) had allot of fun abusing random sounds I recorded in audacity, but I will definitely be teaming up with a sound designer for my next game jam!

I'm probably being really stupid here, but how do I move the character? x3 I can press S to make sound and space to close eyes, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the little dude to move >.< I've tried pressing all the keys on my crappy laptop and moving the mouse but I'm stumped!

It's not really the sort of game I usually play, but the sound concept seems cool :D I won't rate until I hear back cos that would be unfair, haha.

Never mind! It was just my dumb laptop being crazy laggy >.< the arrow keys are working fine for moving now xD

So yeah, I like the close eyes mechanic, that's pretty neat cos it's nice to have some kinda safety net when facing creepy creatures, haha. I don't think I would manage to escape the maze no matter how much I play cos my laptop is too laggy to react in time even if I hear a creature coming + my memory totally sucks so I'd probably just wander forever in there going over the same paths I have already explored repeatedly x3 It didn't take long for me to get munched first time around! Lasted a bit longer on round two!

hmm are you playing the browser version? it should (barring my crappy programming) be a small game to run and should run on anything (i mean if doom can run on a fridge...). I'll have to look into what godot does to make the browser version as i must admit i am very green at that part. Maybe in the mean time you could try the windows downloadable version, I'm assuming without chrome bloat wear layered on top of the game it might run smoother?

Glad you enjoyed the game though! And if I'm being honest, I've never managed to make it out of the maze either, i clearly never played enough brain training games growing up :)

Yeah, I was playing the browser version! I didn't realise there was a downloadable one as well... I'm an idiot >.< oops! My laptop is awful and sometimes even struggles to run short visual novels xD It's not the ideal thing to be making or playing games on, but I can't use my PC very easily right now cos halfway through the jam, I returned to my dad's house to visit, and my PC is hooked up to a TV in my room here cos there's no space for a desk. So to play stuff on my PC here, I would have to sit on my bed with a keyboard on my lap, which isn't very comfortable >.<

Well, I at least feel like less of an idiot now if you haven't made it out of the maze either, haha. I mainly just play story-heavy games, so my general gaming skills are fairly sucky, unless it's a rhythm game, for some reason I'm pretty good at those xD

I liked a lot the rendering of your game!

Moreover, it controls pretty well!

Overall, gg for your work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! really appreciate it! Anything you would improve about it?

The encounter with monsters, I felt powerless, and the fear feature felt quite confusing.

But for a first game jam, it is pretty nice! Keep it up!

The perspective of the maze from above and the foggy effect look sweet. I also liked the horror mood delivered in the sound and the dark illumination.

See you made it in Godot, if you turn off the filter on your sprites it will make them look a bit crisper and less blurry. Like the game though!

Developer

Aww man, that looks so much better now lol thanks for that, will definitely be implementing that after the voting period finishes!

kinda noisy for a game about using sound tactically. i found it fun to play, but you maybe tried a little hard to be edgy in the menus.

Developer

haha all about the edge :) thanks! You think the background music was too loud or too many other sound effects?

Submitted(+1)

combo of the background music and the heartbeat I think.

Developer

cool, thanks for the feedback, ill make some changes and upload after voting ends!
