Hi there!
I'm one of the 6 judges for this RPG Maker Game Jam 2025. I was one of the 2 judges assigned to your game, and we have been assigned to rate your games according to each metric highlighted on the game's main jam page, and submit these ratings to the organisers, who will then appropriate what happens with that. Please contact them in the Q&A if you have any further questions about the judging process. The judges will work on different time schedules, so even if I may have finished playing your game, the entire process might not be finished as of yet. Many of these reviews I am posting while still judging.
Now I usually have a VOD for every single entry, but for some reason, DECCI is the only entry in this jam that I accidentally did not upload, and do not have a copy of on my machine. I am so sorry about this. You are literally the only entry out of the 100+ that I played that does not have a video, and I'm really sad, because I was SPOOKED by this one's jumpscares, and it was a hilarious time. T_T But I think you were there for some of it, so I'm glad you at least got to see me play some.
I will review now, without the VOD (T_T) and I will not disclose my ratings for each category as of yet, but those will be revealed in due time. Not all judges are required to post a review or VOD to each game, but many will do so even if it's optional, including myself.
Here's where the VOD would have been if I still had it. (Still sorry... oof!)
Yeah, DECCI is a banger, banger, banger, banger. What a banger.
This game feels like a Five Nights at Freddy's type thing - I haven't played them but I've watched enough gameplay to know that it's sort of about keeping your eye on various things and making sure they're all okay, otherwise you get jump scared.
And it works so well!
The "Beyond Expectations" theme was employed *really* closely here (probably one of my favourites of the jam), where you do that initial fakeout and then transport us to the real game, which is a 3D style Five Nights game and it is very very tense!
I was blown away by this implementation. I don't know how you did it in RPG Maker MZ. I have some idea. But not the full idea. There are other judges who reckon they know how you did it, but I personally don't have as much of an idea.
Either way, even beyond the "shock factor of being in an engine", the game works well on a gameplay basis.
I also hate playing this game. Like, I can't even touch the keyboard sometimes... it's so freaky! OUCH.
And by that, don't get me wrong - I think it's amazing. But I don't like playing these types of games where you get scared like this! But I also think it'd be fantastic for streamers. Just not me, a person with already high anxiety. It's definitely good for the audience it seeks to scare hehehehe
The jump scare is maybe WAY too loud, but maybe that's the point? You're supposed to be super scared by it (lol) but even then, it is scorchingly loud.
But the idea of the story setup where you're transported into this game by an "entity" is a nice framework. And that entity will make frequent comments about whether this is "beyond expectations" or not, and things about the engine, and various comments... I forgot what kind of comments because I don't have my VOD with me (T_T) but suffice to say... this game was a banger, and I don't have many criticisms, honestly? It's just solid all-round.
To hear that you made it in such a short time too? Very impressive.
Yeah, I... don't really know what else to say. I'm very very impressed by this game, and I can't wait to see more by the developer. Consider me subscribed.
Cheers and cheers! Every game is a gift. Keep making games!
Thanks for the feedback! Not to worry, I saw your VOD a couple of times and took notes on your feedback so I can use it to improve the game later! So even if it's gone, its value is not!
I will absolutely be using your feedback, along with the other judges, to improve the game and hopefully get a fully fleshed out version to go on Steam at some point. And in terms of how I made stuff and what improvements I now want to make on it, after the jam is over I'll probably make a video about it. Even if I'm not the best at explaining things I can at least try to go into at least a little bit on how I did specific things!
I love the fact that no plugins were used for this game and they were all events! Definitely went beyond expectations and it is such an impressive feat! The pictures used for all the movements and animations really helped bring the game to life or to horror. xD <3 Jumpscare wes fun and hilarious at times, and you do have to try again to make things right. But I love how straightforward this entry is and just showcased is strengths immediately! Great job with this entry! <3
Super glad that you enjoyed the game! It's awesome to hear that everything worked as it was suppose to!
And thank you! I'm super proud that I was about to do it without plugins. Although I did accidentally leave the default plugins in the folder but if someone doubted if they were used or not they could just delete them and play the game so I'm not worried about that. XD
Me when I saw the "no plugins were used" screen
how
I'm glad that was a surprise! And also this made me laugh. XD
Hello! I fully enjoyed the game on stream, and has a very unique twist of beyond expectations.
I'm not a fan of FNAF-like games, but this one was build with a lot of attention: there are not too many informations you need to know, and the ones that you don't know you will learn during the game overs.
That's a very cool multitasking game with the right aura of mistery and gameplay that is pretty cool.
My only critique is that restarting from level 1 each time you lose could become annoying when you lose near the end, but it didn't happen so I'm not complaining. This was the first game of the jam I played, and it started with a blast! XD
Here's the stream VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2439196857
Thanks again for playing it!
I'm very happy with your comments as it's great to know that someone who doesn't like FNAF-like games still enjoyed it!
Perhaps for after the jam; a difficulty setting of some kind would fix having to start over from level 1 but still allow those who want the full challenge to choose if they want that?
Still though for this version I think I got the difficult to an ok level I hope! XD
Created in RPG Maker MZ with NO plugins.
IMPORTANT:
I forgot to remove the default plugins from the folder, but they're not used in any way.
I was watching the live where it was played now
This game is amazing and DEFINITELY Beyond my expectation
You're amazing
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
A live, uh... 👀
