Very smooth and simple. It looks great and feels great. I really like how the player has to deduce the the symbol meanings. It would be nice to have some indication of how many more levels there were, maybe a set of dots on the side that get filled in after each level? I think a couple extra more difficult levels are needed, most of the levels were pretty quick to complete. I'm thinking another rule/mechanic could help too. Maybe a color shifter square (or vertex) for the snake that swaps between colors and you have to hit certain vertexes with specific colors. Just an idea, not sure how good that would actually feel to play with. Overall great job!

Developer

Thanks for the suggestions and while I do agree with more difficult stages and extra rules, I’ve actually made a plan for what I want the end result to be. But the idea you gave might just be seen in a future game…

Very nicely done! I actually enjoyed not knowing what the symbols needed and figuring it out myself. Gave me some good penny-drop moments. Not too tricky in general, which suits me :D

Developer

Thanks, I’m gonna try to release a more polished and better designed game post-jam!

A very well-made game. I really like all that juice and good sound design. The movement feels nice and responsive. Maybe some background music would be nice.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I like the idea and I’m going to proceed with it post-jam!

Anything less than 5 stars for fun will be unfair as I had a lot of it. At the beginning figuring out what I need to do was a bit difficult. But I liked it did not have any text tutorials. Maybe some visual cues on what need to happen to win. But I did manage to finish all the levels!

Developer

thanks, I actually will redesign the game to have better intuitive design and maybe even camera movement so that I can make the puzzle rules less confusing and easier to learn while having the puzzle itself still be a challenge!

That was a good variation on the "Snake needs to fill the board" type of puzzles.

I really like how you managed to teach every mechanic without needing any text, that was cleverly designed.

What's holding you back is the lack of music and features outside of the main gameplay loop.

But, the core gameplay is engaging and I can see this having a lot of potential, especially with the different level objectives. Those last levels were quite fun !

Good job !

Developer(+1)

The lack of music is more on me just refusing to use songs that are not mine or making a good 30-60 second loop… the lack of features outside the main gameplay loop was just something I forgot and remembered about at the last day…

Fair points, that's all good !
I'm just trying to give some constructive cristicism and not just "game is great" to help everyone learn from their games :)

It was.. interesting.

I liked it, but it didn't feel very puzzle-y. I wasn't really thinking about the solutions, but rather just follow my instict (and most of the time it worked).

Take this with a mountain of salt, but I feel like this game could work like some of those randomly generated logic games (like sodoku for example), but I'm not sure if that's feasible for this game specifically (I never really looked at how these games work).

Developer

Ah, that’s probably because that’s how I did it. Making neat puzzles for a game jam is hard but I also like to say that this game could be randomly generated but it would be not easy or intuitive to play…

Overall really good. I liked the complexity of it

The sounds are a bit too punchy and loud by default. And since there is no info about what every symbol means it's easy to misunderstand some of them at first: I got stuck on the lvl where points are first introduced.

But I think what's holding it back the most is no saves. Add saves and a lot more people would finish it

Developer

I actually wanted to add more mechanics, settings, levels and even a level select screen. I’m hoping to release a bigger and better version with a publisher if I can find one!

Submitted(+1)

Sounds fun, but if you wanna add more then saves or lvl selection screen should be the first thing you make.

Or make lvls randomly generated and it'll become something of a roguelike

Anyway, good luck with it and write to me if you'll need a tester!

Developer(+1)

while the random levels idea sounds nice, it would not feel to good I think and would take me years to make… but I’m actually continuing this game and adding more things!

Really interesting how the Snake-like mechanics are used here, the variety of objectives really kept my mental gears turning

Developer

Thanks, the mechanics were the most important thing I wanted to implement
