Description
There's a more detailed description on the PDF, but in short: I wrote the soundtrack of a game in which the main mechanics revolve around puzzles and a big mystery.
I am not familiar with Cyberpunk music, so I tried to inspire the theme with the story (check the PDF for more details!).
The entire OST is built around what I'm familiar with which is Tango, so the entire musical language is basically tango. Hope you enjoy this experiment!

Message from the artist:
Something I want to mention, that accordion like instrument you can hear is not an accordion, but a bandoneon.

As an Argentinian I love the Tango approach you took in some of these, it works surprisingly well for a mystery game. It makes for a very unique entry. Great job, I love it!!

(I'm definitely not biased just because you said Professor Layton was an inspiration lmao)

Argentina es el mejor país de Argentina

Impressive how much you got out in 48 hours. Digging this composition and I can hear the tango vibes in the chords too. Great work!

I love the mix of tango styling and cyberpunk, especially with those string synths in the first track and the growly bass in interrogation. Also love the use of bandoneon, I've never heard of it but it fits the style you were going for super well! Nice addition as well with the little jingles in there, helps paint the picture of actual gameplay. Very stylized, moody, and pretty jazzy at some parts, love it!

Nice OST, reminds me style of 90s Sierra Adventure games... Good work.

I really appreciate that you chose top stick with the Tango genre and try your best to combine it with the theme. In a contest that tended to produce a lot of somewhat samey entries, this was a nice breath of fresh air. I think some of the musical ideas could be elaborated on a bit more and some more natural sounding Instruments would improve the quality of the tunes, but overall, I quite enjoyed this one.

This is taking me back to the Professor Layton games, which are near and dear to me  (edit: just realized someone else said this too! So you know there's something to it). It makes me want to sit down on a rainy day and solve a puzzle of a noir city. The accordion bandoneon sounds great! And I agree with Aran that some reverb could probably help the different parts sit together in the same space.

The jingles are probably my favorite part of all this. They're super creative and something that makes the soundtrack feel very complete, like now it just needs a game, which I would love to play. Nice job!

Definitely enjoying the ways the tracks embody their narrative explanations! Cool compositions and cinematic moments – I liked the Found jingle a lot!

It sounds like you’re relatively new to writing electronic music, and it shows a bit in the sound design of the synths. Right now they’re pretty loud and sitting “in front” of everything else.

The main thing I’d recommend is using reverb more to round out the sounds of the synths and help them mesh with the rest of the instrumental. :)

Some great content here! The instrument choices are intriguing to say the least - definite future noire sort of vibe - almost diesel punk? Arrangements are solid. I feel like the low and high end could have used a bit more pop and sparkle in the mix-down, but for the amount of compositions, to have time to do a really thorough mastering pass in the time allowed... you get what you get, right? *grin* Great job.

Overall I think these tracks are really good but they feel pretty disconnected from the theme and don't have a lot of elements I would associate with Cyberpunk. While the melodies and rhythms are all really good the timbre of most instruments sounds a bit too analog or something from a Sega Genesis game. I think Interrogation works the best with the theme and would be a good track for a game. The accordion style sounds in other tracks could be replaced with more lush pads. Like, 2150 Noir sounds really good and I think your tango influence is a great idea but the instrument choice is off. I really like it though and I think it's a great submission.

Maybe a bit more steampunk than cyberpunk 😁 cool to hear something different. It's easy to imagine a scenario in your head while listening, you really managed to tell a story with the music. Reminds me of Professor Layton games for some reason. Interrogation has a more cyber vibe.

The Professor Layton OST is definitely a huge inspiration of mine; it's such a good soundtrack

Bandoneon... interesting. :D

Wait ... tango? :D

Cool! Really surprising, but very well executed.

Downtown

Cool. It's interesting hearing this on such a synthy backdrop. It really does feel like a downtown theme. Exploring the place.

Interrogation

Again, very nice. I really like the glides you do on the synths. The repeating piano reminds me a little of the 7th Guest. It's a puzzle game I used to play as a kid. As such, I could see this working exceptionally well for puzzling.

Jingle - Found

Cool! Actual video game / event effects too!

Mansion

I feel we're heading for a confrontation. I'm not sure who this is, but he definitely dunnit. I love the pace in this one. Lots of forward momentum. Also cool fills.

Jingle - Elevator

Very good. I would love it if this happened in the middle of a chase. Both you and the villain get into an elevator and suddenly that music while you wait to both continue your chase.

Chase

Cool! Really like the chippy influences. Also, those swipey sounds are amazing! They really sell this soundtrack. Cool hit on the finale too.

Man, I love how this is really an entire soundtrack. Definitely got noir vibes from the whole thing. The pacing is also really excellent and those little jingles are a really nice touch that really sell this as a game soundtrack. Well done!

Tango is not my field of expertise, but it’s not hard to imagine it in a cyberpunk, maybe steampunk context! :D

Downtown had really nice mellow vibes! Interrogation really fit the title! The synthbends really added to the mood!

Mansion is the star of the soundtrack, that’s for sure! Quite a lot happens in it!

Chase is thriller material, good stuff!

I don't usually associate accordions with cyberpunk, but you make it work here!

Developer

This is actually pretty reassuring to hear, thanks!

Great cohesion in this soundtrack! I admire all the variations you created from a simple yet catchy theme, each track had its own unique feel. Nicely done!

very entertaining listen, an unusual set of instrumentation for tango but that made It even more interesting to hear! My favorite was definitely mansion, i loved the energy from it, and the jingles were a nice touch too

I loved the bandoneon, it was really expressive. Also, great job keeping a cohesive feel throughout!
