Description
Set in a dystopian future inspired by the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" and its movie adaptation "Blade Runner", Replica Hunters is a Tactical RPG where the player controls a team of bounty hunters. Their mission is simple: neutralize the illegal remaining androids (named Replicas) that still roam around the city.

Quickly the team starts to wonder, though... Do Replicas feel like humans do? Do they have ambitions, hopes, imagination? Do they suffer, feel pain, or feel despair? Or is it all simulated artificial intelligence?

They realize Replicas indeed are conscious beings that deserve rights like humans do. But what about their mission? Will they go on with it knowing this harsh truth?

Composed in 24 hours, the rest of the time spent on figuring out how to post it lol x3
I made use of plenty of drum loops and synths, and I tried using a leitmotif around there. But nothing too complicated, I'm always simple when it comes to my compositions. I used FL Studio.

Message from the artist:
This was really fun! I'd totally do it again next time :)
Props on Lone Rabbit for organizing everything!
Also huge thanks to Sakuragi, who made the cover art for my submission.

Really great sounds and style, it fits right in with cyberpunk. Between the creepiness and the action filled parts of cyberpunk, this really fits the theme. Great stuff!

WOW that's a lot of tracks, but you did a fantastic job making each of them sound unique and full of character!

This is super creative! I love that the replicas all have personality. My favorite is the defiant replica. The theme captures that survival instinct that the replicants have in Blade Runner - trying to defy death. Great job!

Really enjoying these CRONCHY synth-guitars in the Battle theme! Definitely getting mavericks vs. Mega Man X vibes from this collection.

The break-y percussion and fast arps of the Boss Battle theme are also a lot of fun, it’s probably my favorite out of the bunch.

Great work!

okay... this is my favorite submission yet. I can already imagine this in a game, and I really like the idea. i dont even really know what to say-- and in 24 hours?? you say this was simple but im still blown away. i struggled to pump mine out in 48 hours! this sounds perfect for the game idea you described. i really hope to see you in future jams.

6 tracks in 24 hour? Did you ever sleep? It's pretty impressive, tho... and it sounds good too!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!

I did sleep! And I had plenty of time to spare, too haha. What screwed me over was panicking when I had to submit it lmao

You must be a robot to crank all that quality!

Developer(+1)

THANK YOU SO MUCH, FELLOW HUMAN. I APPRECIATE YOUR COMPLIMENT A LOT.

No but seriously, thanks!! I wouldn't say it's quality but I mean, I can't be my own judge here haha.

Impressive that you got so many tracks out in 24 hours! Dreaming Replica is such a vibe and is my favorite overall, followed closely by the boss battle with that wild rhythm. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah I'm not quite sure how I managed, considering the last 9-day jam I couldn't get a single track done haha xp

Gotta love the 15/16 time signature ;3

Great vibe in all of these tracks. I love the boss battle theme, very oldschool flashy. Nicely done!

Developer

Thank you!! At first I wasn't really sure with the Boss Battle one, but it grew on me and somehow I made it work... I think haha.

My favourite is dreaming replica, I like the laid back tone there! Good stuff all around!

Developer

Thank you so much!! Yeah, Dreaming Replica is my fav too haha

I really like that you laid out a concept and cranked out that amount of music in such a relatively short time! The selected soundscape fits the lore nicely.

I really like the vaporwavy feel of Dreaming Replica and the guitar riffs in Battle Replica, and breakbeat is always welcome in boss battles!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I tried my best haha, I'm glad my best was good enough xD

Dawning Replica: Cool opening. Really like the super short blippy sound. I quite like how you slowly veer it into a scary feel by slowly detuning the piece. Makes me feel quite uneasy.

Dreaming Replica: Digging that vowel-y synth you open up with a lot. Also like the mellow feel of the breakbeat in this. Good synths. Nothing to complain about really. Feel this is almost like a world map or planning kind of tune. I like the sweepy effects in the second half too. I like how they syncopate with the drums.

Defiant Replica: Cool track. Really like that echoey snare drum. Around the 1 minute mark, the walking synth reminded me a little of the original Deus Ex soundtrack. Not sure if that was intentional or not, but if so, nice wink to another cyberpunk classic.

Disposable Replica: Oh I really like this. Once again, with such a lovely echoey snare. I love those. This one makes me feel like I'm walking through either a battlefield full of fallen mechs, or a junkyard or dock. Great work conveying a consistent mood here.

Deadly Replica: This one screams playstation to me. I think it's those pad swells. They really harken back to those days (in a good way). It's a cool theme. It feels a bit like this would be a boss that's fought strategically?

Dormant Replica: Nice. I like how you apply a similar gating here as you did with the opening. Makes a nice wedge that way. The only thing that leaves me wondering is the uneasy feeling at the end... is the battle not over? Will there be a part 2? :D

Good work! Crazy how many tracks you managed to do in such a short time.

My favorite was disposable replica because of the beat.

Thank you so much!! These are a lot of compliments in a row I can't take it x3

Alas, if I copied another cyberpunk game, it was not intentional. I don't think I've played many games or heard many songs of the genre haha.

Thanks again! :)

Well done keeping a consistent vibe throughout! I particularly enjoyed the track Boss Battle - Deadly Replica!
