  • Hey! I loved your concept, and really appreciate the hard work you put into this! Other than your friend's great feedback, I would like to mention that you can improve the game by; - Making some levels understandable, (sometimes I have to die to understand what's happening) - Put checkpoints, maybe a world/area system where you can save the progress you made! - More artwork for indicators! "Where can I wall jump?" or "Which place is the secret area?" Even tho they should be hidden, the player would like a hint about those types of things, to become a pro at your game! I see that you kept adding features to your game so that players won't get bored! And it actually works, I never got bored. Nice job on this game! I really hope you will continue working on this one! I wish you good luck on your future projects! XD
  • Nice job just 1 suggestion when you get in the mist the player takes damage over time and the platform is visible because when the mist touches the platform it is almost impossible to see but for a person with 2 months of experience outstanding performance

Selected Challenges!
Alone, I wanted to give the player a sensation of solitude
You are the Enemy, you will find it out at the end but, the enemies you encounter are just in your mind and "you" are the enemy of yourself.

Great concept! I really loved how you should use small things to solve the puzzle, like restarting the level or the enemy hitting the buttons, I died hundreds of times, but it kept getting more fun!

Nice job on this! ✨

Thank you so much for playing my game and thank you for the precious feedback!

Great atmosphere and concept. I did find it a bit hard to tell when I could and couldn't wall jump which lead to some annoying deaths but overall nice work!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing my game! I will make sure to apply all of the feedbacks I got to my game and update it!

Great game! Probably the game in the jam I enjoyed the most (among those I have played) and certainly the game I've spent the most time on! Great animations, sound, theme, lore, fast-paced because of the "fog", the possibility to manipulate the enemies to trigger the buttons for you, and more!  I would love to try to speedrun a complete version of it! You immediately understand that it is an excellent basis for a complete game and you did already a lot of work!

I spent quite a lot of time play-testing it (it wasn't easy because of the fog) and I did notice  basically no big problems, here are my observation (I excluded stuff already commented by other users and you) (probably not so valuable because the game runs really great):

  1. The game run smoothly, I played without closing the window for a quite long time and I did not notice any performance issue -> so congrats! no (at least major) memory leaks XD!
  2. (probable you already noticed it) Button triggering and consequent “gate“ opening are sometimes inconsistent: grabbing a wall near a button triggers button animation but not gate opening, or the button animation in the level with the "double gate" is triggered from far away (from underneath while wall jumping); maybe because the wall grabbing state the upside-down button sometimes seems to be triggered in the correct way but the gate does not open
  3. Sometimes after death, the play button doesn't work immediately (cannot understand when it happens)
  4. Sometimes I died but I didn't understand why: enemies were quite far away, no fog (it happened twice too quickly to give you some more info)
  5. Sometimes the last "not hopping enemy" placed in the bottom-left corner (of the room with 3 consecutive of these enemies) did not follow me (seems not to be related  to the x-axis position on the floor where the player lands)
  6. (probably only a personal opinion) the "hopping enemies" seem to have a big (or offset) collision box in the top direction (not on the side) or maybe during their jump animation
  7. (personal opinion): If you go quite fast, the "fog" became basically irrelevant (maybe it can be added a maximum distance between the player and "fog")
  8. (personal opinion) a bit frustrating: you run away from a hopping enemy, you trigger a transition room, the enemy stops super-near the start of that room -> basically now you have no way to pass it  (enemy is still there and you have to trigger room transition)

(sorry for the terrible English and the lengthy but quite weak observations)

Keep up the great job!

Ok so FIRST OF ALL, thank you for your feedback and for playing my game. I'm also gonna go with numbers so this can be more clear:

  1.  YES! The game indeed runs smoothly, that's because i spent at least 8 hours to tweak with this issue! In the very first version, the fog made the game unplayable!
  2.  YES! I do know that! That is because most of the collisions for the game are broken with the browser version! You will not find it when I release the downloadable version!
  3. This also works with collisions! If you press on the "play" writing, it works, but if you press the button but not on the "play" itself, it doesn't work! This is also caused by collisions
  4. That's because one of the enemies is broken on the web version! It appears invisible but it's actually there :(
  5.  Yeah I noticed that, but it was already too late, this will be fixed :(
  6. Rip, still collisions issues :(
  7. Someone already told me! They actually said that the fog was too fast! So I'm just gonna add 3 modes to the game! Easy, Normal, Hard! With slower or faster fog, and some tweaking to match all players and playstyles.
  8. Yes! This was one of the worst thing I have in my game (other than restarting the game if you loose lol), I will find a solution to this!

wow, english is also not my first language so I'm sorry if you find any errors. I REALLY appreciated your post, comments like these really help me to make a better version of the game and of myself! Thank you again for playing! And sorry for the issues!

I really LOVED the graphics!!! The player slided a bit too much in my opinion, but overall it was a really good game!

Submitted(+1)

Nice game! I'd definitely like to see the updated version.

Developer

Thank you! I can't wait to update it! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for playing!

I got stuck on the 3rd level, as in i couldn’t figure out how to escape that one.

Anyway, pretty good execution though the jumping was a bit of a hassle. It keeps jumping if the spacebar is still pressed which is annoying because i tend to be slow at releasing the spacebar. I think the user should have to first release the spacebar before jumping again. Just my opinion though.

Developer

Ok so, that's a common issue, the writing says "press r to reset" and if you do, you...reset. Thank you for your feedback! And YES, I will update the game and fix common bugs and problems!

Submitted(+1)

love the cute and dark artstyle of the game. My only complaint is that there is no game over screen when you die and you just go back to the main menu. Other than that, It's really good.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I know, I ran out of time and I didn't add any, sorry if it bothered you :( And thank you for your feedback!

Submitted

No problem the game was still fun to play.

Submitted(+1)

Nice work! I hope to see more levels in the future and other graphical themes as I feel this concept can be repeated also in other colors without feeling too repetitive but that's just my opinion.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! YES, I also think that this style can easily be repeated with other colors!

It looks cool but the text is close to unreadable.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! YES, the text is indeed difficult to read, really sorry if it bothered you, I will 100% fix this issue after the jam!

Submitted(+1)

Alright!!

Really amazing platformer with GREAT way for adding the challenges. Specially the 'You are the Enemy' challenge that you wanted to do with the lore. I was also planning on implementing that challenge with the lore but like you, wasn't able to do it. However, I do think you shouldn't have revealed it as you are going to update the game after the JAM.

Now as for the Audio aspect, really good crisp audio. There are a few things that are already mentioned by others down that you should take into account while updating the game later:

  1. Lighting of the game. It does get really dark. But if you wanna keep that dark theme, maybe you can find a way to light up the platform, using some white lightings or something else
  2. The text should get more clear as you don't people to be stuck reading the text in the level while they are being chased by the mist.
  3. Player movement - I think you have implemented it in a way where player moves forward a bit even when he stops moving cause of inertia. Its good but messes up the flow when you are short on time and you fall off the platform by a split second. Yes it accounts for an added difficulty so maybe you can touch up a bit more on it.

Overall really good game. And can't wait to play it once you have updated the game again after the JAM.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! Firstly I have to admit the problems that my game has, it's totally true and I will fix all of them as soon possible! I really really appreciate long comments like these, as I can't really judge myself all alone, THANK YOU! <3

Nice take on the theme. Was fun, thank you!

thank YOU for the feedback!

Fun and depressing. I love this feeling.

Developer

Just like my life! Thank you for your feedback!

Submitted(+1)

This was cool! The minimalist audio suits the game well. I also liked the way you incorporated both the theme 'minimalism' and optional challenges into different elements of the game (from the art, sound, to back story) - they all work really well together.

I liked the aesthetic with the lighting / oncoming mist (as others have pointed out - it might be a bit dark, but you've mentioned you will update that which is awesome).

Looking forward to when you update it and expand on the game in the future! Overall great work :D

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback! I really put most of my efforts into making the scene feel like I wanted, In reality I had a lot more in mind for this game and YES, I will give it updates as I can't stand having something I liked making so much, with no real ending.

Submitted

Glad to hear it!! Excited to see what you add to the game in the future :D

Submitted(+1)

Really enjoyed it. 2 months paid off. I would just say that at first I had a false impression that I was being tossed away from the platform because I was holding the jump button while airborne. Maybe jump only when the input is triggered would be better than repeting while I hold the button.

Still, good job.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for your feedback! I look forward to update the game after the jam finishes!

Submitted(+1)

Cool game, fun mechanic. I like the idea of a fog coming in and engulfing everything in site. It's a little dark so I couldn't see the platforms really well but that could also have been my screen. Fun game, I enjoyed it.

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! YES, the game is indeed very dark, I wanted to do something (no spoiler) but I had no time, I will 100% update it!

Submitted(+1)

This was actually really scary to play & I loved it! The sounds the mist made were kind of cute ngl. My only feedback for this one was that I found the text a bit hard to read, but other than that it was a fun game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! I will surely update the game after the jam ends!

Submitted(+1)

I wish i could play but i can't play web builds because of my computer, i won't rate it but please include a zip next time, Please it looks so good!

Developer

I'm really really sorry for the issue. I didn't actually think about it as this was my first jam.
Also I noticed that browser game tend to have also bugs witch don't exist in my executable, thank you for the feedback nonetheless!

Submitted(+1)

Controls were good , I like the bare bones audio, I'm still not sure if I was imagining the sound of the oncoming mist or not. Very well done.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! There is indeed a sound that plays with the mist :D
