Use of the limitation
From a narrative point of view, the protagonist is a penguin on a unicycle, if a unicycle stops moving it falls. In the core gameplay you have to always move and reverse your speed to grab the rocks so you will keep moving or you lose/don't pick up rocks. Even if you do stop moving, the character will move itself in a pendulum pattern so that it doesn't stop (it's not only an animation, it actually sets the velocity).

Excellent graphics! I did find keep track of all the enemies quite stressful though

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad that you are the first to say that enemy tracking is stressful, I suspected so myself! Any ideas on how to make it better? :)

Submitted(+1)

Perhaps a little bit less enemies in general, so that you have more space to get some rocks, but otherwise there could be a little exclamation mark notification every time an enemy makes it to the nest (or is about to)

Very nice art and music, I liked the storyline, great game overall!

Developer

:) thank you!

Submitted(+2)

Nice art! I love the graphic and music, but the control is kind of difficult.

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback! :) We will improve the controls

Really clean design definitelly jelly! Is there End? I played for like 10 min, yeah i didnt have much rock usually around 8, but i wanna know the rest of the story. I think it would be better if every direction had pick up mechanism. I were just going left to right hoping it would land on rock.

Developer(+1)

Yes there is an end! I'm sorry to here it frustrated you, it is meant to be a bit complicated to pick up rocks... Thanks for playing :)

Submitted(+2)

Nice art and relaxing music, you even implement a full menu it's the first game in the jam that I play with that

Developer

Thank you very much :D

Submitted(+2)

Nice and clean graphics with some nice music, liked it! :)
Good job!

Developer

Thank you very much! :) (I LOVE your game)

Submitted(+1)

can i shoot canon by screaming fire?

Developer

No, the cannons are purely decorative as of now, they didn't make it into the game unfortunately :(

Submitted(+2)

good concept and presentation.. good luck..

Developer

Thanks :)

good music and art :D

Developer

Thank you :D

I love the art, the menus are impressive for a jam game, the music is good. I absolutely hated the controls though, I felt like I couldn't do anything. I didn't understand when I was grabbing rocks or not, I didn't really get the point of the enemies, I had a lot of trouble getting to where I wanted to go, the mechanic to grab rocks felt uselessly complicated... I know all of this is kind of the point of your game, but it didn't resonate with me. Still, an impressive job for a jam and only two people!

Developer

Yes we figured that we need to give a graphical clue to the player about what is the right speed to reverse and pick up rocks. We didn't convey well enough the enemies role, they steal the rocks from your nest if they reach it, we should show it better in-game. Knowing that the game itself should be more informative, can I ask you if the Instructions section cleared some of your doubts or if you found it lacking?  Thank you very much for your feedback! :)

Submitted(+1)

I did read it, but for some reason I glossed over the enemy description, sorry x)
It's a very good explanation screen to be honest, clear, easy to read, but it isn't enough for picking up rocks for exemple (I knew I had to go one way then the other, but it seemed I was never aligned right, or too far, or too close).

Developer

We will definitely improve in that direction, thanks for taking the time to give us feedback!

Submitted(+1)

No worries!

Developer

Hey! I realized that there was a bug with the velocity, since you took interest with the feedback, could I ask you to try the new version? It should be a bit easier because we didn't take into account the vertical velocity to contribute for bending down and picking rocks! (I don't mean to change your mind about the voting, we are just trying to improve the game and are in need of playtesters :) )

Submitted(+2)

The art is really top notch! It's amazing that you made it just over the weekend. With slightly easier-to-understand mechanics and more levels, I think it'd be popular as a full game!

Developer(+1)

Yes, we owe it much to the artist, which  is very good and talented :) We need to iterate on the mechanics, make things clearer. Thank you very much!

Submitted(+2)

This might win! I loved the story at the start and all the little details

Developer

:D Thanks for the encouragement, we are glad you enjoyed it

Submitted(+2)

Neat concept! As others have said, the artwork is great. The music was good. There was a bit of a learning curve, but in-part that's because it's a new idea!

Developer

Thanks! About the learning curve, did you get good at it, were you able to finish it? Thank you very much for your feedback :D

Submitted(+2)

Great art and sound direction, slight learning curve for gameplay but it was an enjoyable experience :)

Developer

Thanks, even though the music is stock, we wrote it in the description because otherwise it might seem like we composed it. Did you manage to finish it? :D

Submitted(+2)

really interesting and unique idea with the pick up mechanic, loved the art and story too

Developer

Thank you very much :)

Submitted(+2)

Very well done!

Developer

Thank you very much! :)

I LOVE this art! When the penguins turn into fried chicken it looks amazing, and it's hilarious. You guys should be very proud! I would recommend making what you arr supposed to do more clear though because it took me a bit of time to understand it.

Developer

Thank you, thanks to you guys we are slowly realizing that some things are not clear. Could I bother you asking what you personally found not so clear? :) Thank you for your warm feedback :D

Submitted(+1)

So I didn't understand how to move, and collect the rocks.

Developer

Ok, we will work on making the instructions clearer, and it just came to my mind that we could show the instruction panel also immediately after the storyboard. Thank you very much

Submitted(+2)

What an original concept! It's a really nice presentation and storytelling that you did. It could be great to write the infos on the jam page about the rules and controls too.

Nice job!

Developer(+1)

Oh right, we were very tired so we didn't give enough love to the Jam page :( Will do. Thanks for your feedback and for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Cute little game - was having trouble with power ups until the realisation about backing up came!

Developer

You mean it wasn't clear enough that you had to bend down to get the Powerups? Thank you for your feedback :)

Submitted

Yea, exactly - potentially my own fault

Developer

Not at all. It is our job to make instructions clear :D

Submitted(+2)

Cute artwork, and props on the clear instructions. I think with a little more time this could be a really neat concept. Congrats!

Developer

Thank you very much for playing :) Any suggestions on what to work on with a little more time? :D
