I'm a musician (singer/songwriter) looking to develop skills in SFX for video games. I work in Reaper and have access to various sound libraries.

If you're interested in working together, tell me a bit about your project for the jam!

I can't speak for every dev, but a common response I've seen to this question is cohesion. What I mean by that is an asset pack that has a particular style, where everything looks like it came from the asset pack, AND, this is likely even more important, quantity. The more assets either in the pack, or various volumes I can buy, the better.

Often times what prevents me from purchasing an asset pack is if there aren't simply enough assets because I know I'll hit a road-block and need to shop around some more and finding a style consistent with an asset pack from a different author is challenging. This is why Kenney's Assets are so popular, not only does he have a lot of different packs, but the packs he does offer, contain a lot of assets - and of course his are free.

I'd pay anywhere from $5-$150 depending on how much value I'm getting from the asset pack.

I didn't participate in the jam, but I tried this. Really great use of the limitation. Kudos!

Same to you!

I'm having a lot of fun with this limitation. To each their own.

I don't think there's enough to go by yet. What's the objective or game mechanic?

Hi, could you please make a quick demonstration video of how to set these character sprites up?

I'm doing it in Aseprite, but I don't think I'm doing it right as it feels a bit cumbersome.

Thanks for adding WASD support! I enjoyed my time playing. It's well designed game visually, and mechanically. The graphics and sound are great, and the level design. Great job!

Thanks for playing. Variety in enemies is a good idea. The only time I noticed unresponsive controls was when I used the analogue stick so my suggestion was WASD or the d-pad.

Thanks again!

That was pretty amazing. The voice overs were great, although I got tired of hearing how those rocks were unstable after retrying so many times haha. I was starting to rage but felt compelled to finish it which I think is a sign of good design.

Well polished game for a short period of time. Kudos.

I'm actually surprised at how enjoyable I found that to be. The music, the ducks, the ambience, the paint, it was relaxing and cathartic.

I ended up selling my painting as an NFT for about tree fiddy so win-win there. Good work!

Really unique idea!

I didn't quite fully understand how to play though. I don't know if it's because I'm bad at math or what, but I never really knew what the right play was.

Thanks for giving it a play. That's a great point, I'm not sure why I didn't just choose birds or some sort of animal. If I continue to work on the project, I'll make that change. Thanks again.

Thanks for adding WASD support! I was able to give it a try. I'm not sure why, but I couldn't really get the hang of it. I felt like I could only double jump if I stayed still or did nothing else but press W twice? If I moved at all, I lost my ability to double jump. If I was already double jumping, then I was okay to move left or right. I'm not sure if that was intended but it made it really frustrating.

Aside from that, I could see myself really enjoying this game.

This was pretty great. Graphics were nice, and so was the music. I enjoyed the concept.

The controls really messed with my mind haha. I think a control scheme that would've made more sense for me personally would've been left click turning  left, and right click turning right with space bar being jump - but it was nice being able to control the game with just the mouse too.

I'm not sure if it was a bug, or just my mouse being sensitive, but some platforms I would land on my character would jump again almost immediately - it didn't happen often but here and there.

Anyway, great work.

Graphics look nice, but I couldn't play it as my keyboard doesn't have arrow keys (mini keyboard that requires function key being pressed to use them). Not going to leave a rating as that would be unfair, but just to suggest supporting WASD control scheme in the future.

This is amazing. I really love the presentation from the visuals to the sounds, just a great aesthetic overall. Great concept too. Could see myself having played countless hours of something like this as kid running MS-DOS in the early 90s.

Unfortunately I couldn't play this as my keyboard doesn't have standard arrow keys (mini keyboard that requires holding a function key), therefore I'm not going to leave a rating as that'd be unfair.

So I'm leaving a comment in hopes that more people add WASD as an alternative control scheme. Great pixel work though too.

Really cool idea. 5 star presentation. Was too difficult for me though. I also couldn't get passed one obstacle. I couldn't tell if I needed to type 'jump' again while already jumping? Couldn't make it over, and couldn't duck long enough to get under something.

I think ideally, a less difficult version of this would be awesome.

That was cool. The mouse sensitivity was a bit too fast for me. Would've been nice to have some music to add to the suspense.

Overall, I enjoyed it (I won!) and think it was a pretty unique idea. Good work.

I'm terrible at this type of game (shmup), but that was pretty fun. I liked how other birds had a bit different mechanics or attributes, like a larger bullet but slower speed etc.

Presentation was terrific. Great pixel work and music. Kudos.

Lol, that was crazy difficult for me, but I really like that idea. Cool concept!

That was pretty cool. I like the art style a lot. Had a retro aesthetic along with the music. The music eventually stopped though and I wished that had kept going.

Lot of potential with this idea. I think I would of preferred it being faster paced with a stronger sense of urgency. I didn't quite understand how I would win or lose.

Great job overall.

Haha, fun idea. That damn bird that does the fake swoop kept getting me! I enjoyed it!

Oh this is cool. Probably my favorite submission so far. The movement is wacky and I love it.

I could see this being loads of fun multiplayer in a Mario Party kind of way, bumping into each other and what not.

Great work.

Neat concept! As others have said, the artwork is great. The music was good. There was a bit of a learning curve, but in-part that's because it's a new idea!

Like Flappy Bird but with better graphics and music. The added enemies / AI was a nice touch. My only gripe was the music restarting when you press 'r' to retry - would've been nice if it just played continuously.

Nice work!

Thanks for playing, and that's a great idea!

Neat game! Felt like the enemies had a lot of hit points!

Neat concept. I liked how you were left in the dark, but at the same time it also felt like there was no way to win if you went the wrong way, just swimming in the dark without any indication of where to go. I think an arrow pointing to some food when you go far off course could be nice.

Anyway, good job!

I like the concept a lot. It took me a moment to realize the letters/packages were color coded haha. Lot of potential with that concept. Nice work!

That's exciting! Welcome aboard.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot to add using the space key as an option. Whoops! Thank you.

I rekt Mark. Anyway, I like the visuals and the story introduction bit. Reminded me of some classic games which was nice.

That was great. I love the retro aesthetic. Neat idea!

Wow, that was fun. I think the idea for the limitation was clever. I also really like how you setup and displayed the tutorial. Great work.

Spooky game! Good job with the ambience. It was scary being shrouded in the dark not knowing when something was going to come after you. Great atmosphere, and the music was nice too.

Neat game! I've never played one of the typing/spelling games before. That was pretty fun. The music was great!

For me it was my first game jam, and first game. I had a blast! I feel so inspired seeing everyone’s work. I can’t wait to work on the next project.
