The concept is interesting. I liked the gameplay and the graphics are great.

I can't tell how much energy I have. The game looks very good, but i died many times bcs I jumped or run without energy. Maybe and option to skip the dialog in the first level would be nice, i've seen it WAY too many times xdd

Developer

The aura should be the health bar, but i see now that somethings looked obvious to me as i created them, but not for so much for most players,  But i will polish the game after the jam and adjust it untill it works better.

The dialogue and music/sound effects give it a well polished feel, though I really struggled with the gameplay! I kept dying on the first level due to running out of energy (the first energy pickups being green when the rest are red really threw me off).
I think having movement consume energy is a bit too punishing, especially when it trains you to minimize all of your actions, as the final level is extremely hard with that mindset! especially with how chaotic and dense the bullet patterns are once enemies stack up.
I liked how the particle effects stack up on the player wisp, and i'm impressed at the dialogue implementation, Great job getting it over the line within the time-frame of the jam!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, i already changed the color on the local game, will polish more and post it after the jam.I wanted the energy taken from the enemies to look like pieces of them, but looking at it now, i get how it can be frustrating for most players, specially because there are a lot of different monitors, and little variations in color can make it actually impossible to distinguish one another.

loved the atmosphere and the gameplay was fun!!

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback!

Love the atmosphere and dialog! And the ending was perfect <3 Great game! I don't have any feedback other than if you decide to keep working on the game I'd love to see a text speed setting!

Developer(+1)

I will add some features in the future, including skiping text for sure.
Is not polished at all, so it may even look a lot different in the "final" version.
Thanks a lot for playing! <3   I am glad you had fun.

I like the idea and concept, first time I play a bullethell in 3D, nice! The dialogues are very well embedded, they give it depth.

But there are things I would change to improve the gameplay and overall feeling. The bullets are almost no different from the energy balls, I would make the game more frenetic (gameplay, music, difficulty, etc.) since it is a bullethell, it's a bit difficult to calculate how much energy you have left, the annoying enemy firing sound, more shooting patterns... I know there's not enough time for almost anything in just a few days, but I'd love to play a game with those improvements!

Overall I think it's a very good game to be your first entry in a game jam, and the atmosphere is great! Good job

Developer(+1)

Thanks!
I've actually noticed  most of those thing and will be working on balancing the game for a better experience.
For now i will only make the changes in my computer, but as the jam voting ends, the adjustments will be posted.

The game is very visually striking and is really fun to play! Everything about the visual gets a 5 stars from me! The game feels a bit too easy I think, there are way too many gaps between the bullets and being able to jump definitely makes it easy even with the energy system, which I really liked! It's a really fun game regardless, though the popping sound when an enemy fires hampered my enjoyment a bit because ow my ears :( There was a slight constant rotation on the player, not sure if that was intentional though.

Developer(+1)

I will take care of that sound then, didn't really had time to polish, so some bugs may have passed. About the rotation, i think it might be a  issue with the game player.

could you pass me some info so i can try to fix it ?
*what browser are you using  ?
*does it happens every time ?
*if it don't happen every single time, did you notice a way to reproduce the bug ?

Submitted(+1)
  • I used firefox!
  • It happens everytime yeah.

Also I tried running it on Chrome and the constant rotation isn't there so it's most likely a Firefox issue.

Developer(+1)

Good to know. i will try to troubleshoot and discover what is going on.
My local version already got a lot of little changes here and there.

This was a great game, but didn’t really have a “bullet hell” feel until the last level. Even then, bumrushing the big guys took out most of the risk! It’s fun to play though, with my only complaints being that the reset triggers are placed before the dialogue (go after! or make it skippable!) and that the energy pickups are nigh indistinguishable from the enemy bullets. Nice ending!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yes!
I could not fit much more bullets in the screen in the jam time, because i only had two days (in the first one i was working), so performance was an big issue.
Still, i may focus on variability on the polishing, more than in quantity of bullets.
Also, i will make the energy easier to differentiate, I really agree with you.

Wonderfully done! I always love a good bullethell!
Funny enough this game is a perfect blend of both games I worked on for the jam :P

the dark background with red, blue, green, and white of this one https://christess12.itch.io/starlight

and the health is ammo of this one https://hotnoggin.itch.io/crystalcast

Developer

Thanks!
Unfortunately I can't play StarLight because I'm a Linux user, but was one of the first that got my attention in the jam, looks very interesting.
I really liked Crystalcast, it has a lot of style in the storytelling.

I really like the dialog triggers for this game, they didn't feel forced and It felt natural! I would've like an energy bar of some sorts to know  how my strategies affect my energy supply! Really good game overall! Congrats on your first jam!

Developer (2 edits)

I probably should have the core explain, that the aura on the players orb is the energy meter. It might pass unnoticed.
Unfortunately I can't play Lightweaver because I'm a crack Linux user

Submitted(+1)

hahaha I see. I just uploaded a web version so that you can play it! I hadn't done It cause I didn't know how to but I learned for you haha!

Developer

Thanks! i will take a look. :D

I've don't think I've ever played a 3D bullet hell game before. Once I actually figured out how to get past the beginning, it was a fun time.

Also, your answer to the "cookies eaten" question made me chuckle.  I hope your liver is okay!

Developer

Glad you had fun! After the Jam i will polish it a bit, so there is more variation, maybe some power ups, and to make the game more clear.

Submitted(+1)

The visual in this game is stunning! Truly a bullet hell, especially on the last level. Also like how the game loops back to the start. My only feedback is the energy orbs are a bit hard to differentiate to the enemy bullets. Maybe green would be a better color? Like the core? Overall, I enjoyed this game a lot!

Developer

I thought about the energy orbs too, i wanted it to kind of look like the orbs that droped them when dying, as pieces of themselfs.. but it really became hard to diference between them.
Surely will adjust it in the future.

Submitted(+1)

Enjoyed the game! Really liked the way you presented the theme, and bullet hells are fun,

One point of feedback I will say though, is that I wish the dialogue was a bit faster (or there was a way to skip it). It felt a little slow especially that when you die you had to go through it again.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the feedback!
I will add an skip option later for sure, i felt this need too, but was afraid that i could break the game beeing so close of the delivery date.
Also to add some change in game-play, it is 3d and i'm thinking about using it a little better.

I absolutely LOVE bullet hell games, which is why this game got 5 stars from me. I also happened to make a bullet hell game, but yours is definitely the best of the two. I thought it was cool how the game looped back around at the end.

Developer

Thanks! Took a lot of non sleeped ours. haha
i will surelly take a look at your game!
