This is without a doubt a favorite! I loved the lost vikings when I was a kid, and always wanted to replicate the mechanics in a game jam but never had the guts to do it yet. A little jankiness aside, the puzzles design is very well done, the cats are adorable, and the music is great. I played it to the end, and I could easily see this as a full-fledged game, with story/dialogue, more cats, hundreds of puzzles, etc.

Great job indeed!

Developer

Lost Vikings is dope. The idea of more cats makes me want to take  a nap.

Hi Scalpha! This game gives me OG Mario Raccoon vibes just like your profile pic! Super cool, and nice level design!

Developer

First comment I've ever gotten on my rad profile pic, thank you!

very well done lots of levels the only issue I ran into well playing the game was the teleportation cat killing it self some times well teleporting.

Developer

I tested out all of the cats with a controller and that works a lot smoother with the teleport than the keyboard. sometimes with the keyboard you just disappear into nothingness for some reason

ah never tried to use a gamepad.  my game uses a gamepad as well never said it did anywhere though and the tutorial only changes to show the gamepad controls if you are using the gamepad lol.....

I think there is little bug in the first level, I can fly under the ground.
The idea to switch cat with differents power is cool.

Gg for the submission :)

Yeah, in later level designs, i added invisible spikes on all the perimeter so you just die if you go out of level but I think I missed it on some of the early levels.

amazed at the quality archieved only by 1 person, plus with the limitation, level design is solid and mechanics too, appretiate the 2 character control i did found some puzzles not that intuitive once both mechanics start to mesh but it is a very fun time!

Developer

Hopefully, there are a variety of ways to solve each level, if you got stuck and wanted to see it through, I posted a walkthrough vid.

Incredibly creative gameplay mechanics with a wide variety of different, clever levels. Very well done! the controls are sometimes quite buggy unfortunately, but the varied amount of content and imaginative abilities make up for that entirely IMO.

Developer(+1)

I think the basic controls are mostly fine, but the unity physics doesn't play well with a lot of the special abilities.

Great game!

Impressive work. Concept, presentation and level design are all top-notch. There were some issues with collision detection where a cat would go through a wall or floor tile. Overall one of the best entries so far IMO.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much. Unity physics is a fickle monster. Oolong completely broke the game even before the teleport cat.

love how the cats mix well with each other to create some really interesting puzzles

Developer

Yeah, its hard to make a game that has different character mechanics meshing with each other and every level not just feel like do cat 1 thing, do cat 2 thing, do cat 3 thing.

I love the mechanics of the game, very well done!

I am so impressed with how many levels You managed to make in just 3 days :D Concept is great, it's nice to see a good puzzle game here, oolong is my favourite cat :)

Developer

yeah he's pretty great. He's supposed to be a siamese but the color pallette means his face is a little too ligh

Submitted(+1)

Congrats for the game! Very clever puzzles! On the last levels I found a bug where is possible to climb on walls lol. Still it was very very fun congrats.

Developer

Oolong basically breaks the game. I thought Marley didn't but I was playing with a controller. With keyboard, the teleports are very sketchy.

Great job! Love the puzzle theme and music!

Any tips for creating similar music?

Quite fun!, I found that some of the physics were really wonky,  things like cats floating above the ground and I got stuck in a wall twice, but those could honestly just be unity web player being unity web player...

My only real complaint is that I played with controller, and the Y button is reset the level, but for a lot of fps games, Y is switch weapon, so I kept trying to "switch weapon" (cat) and accidentally reset.

Very fun overall

Developer

dude. I'm so over unity physics after making this game.  Glad to see someone playing with controller

I still had it plugged in from when i was testing my game lol

I feel you Scalpha, haha! I've been going with my own "halfbaked" physics engine (I can't call it an engine really, maybe a physics hand crank?), I have issues of my own but I can't help but wonder if it would be good or not to go back to unity physics, with rigidbodies and etc.

This was frustrating and so fun at the same time. Some of the levels were soooo hard  but it had me wanting to keep trying. Good game!

Developer

Hey Thanks! I just upload some bug fixes to hopefully help with the frustration.
